Where do I start..... Steep steps leading down to property. No disabled access. No trays/pans for oven. 1 badly scratched frying pan.A dustpan would be handy so would a hoover. Handle fell off boiler cupboard which owner knew about. Why not fix it. Cobwebs in places. No operating instructions for heated flooring. I know we're in unprecedented times but this property goes beyond basic... Nice view from veranda

Cottage could have done with a good clean cobwebs everywhere..

Lovely views - shame the windows were very dirty and the glass in 2nd bedroom blown.. The hot water was scalding from taps and showers were fixed at a tepid temperature. Bedding and towels needed a quality upgrade and beds very hard for disabled pensioners. Sykes information does not include the 8-10 steps to get from the road to the front door. Letters from Sykes were addressed to me personally and included info re washing machine and dishwasher use - I thought these were available in the cottage as a given! perhaps letters should be tailored to individual properties and their facilities and not’ one size fits all’.

This cottage had very basic facilities.. No allowance for recycling. No trays for cooking. A non stick frying pan that's badly scratched. Only 1 Pyrex dish to cook in. No disabled access.

The local pub is now shut (going to be made into flats ) according to sign on door.. Towels need to be upgraded , could do with a culindar in the kitchen. Also cutlery could do with being replaced. The property would benefit from the hedge being cut right down so the view can be properly appreciated from all of the veranda, also the small garden could be properly fenced to make it dog friendly. The view from the property is amazing and nice local walks.

The view from our windows across the river were beautiful.. The beds very comfortable and the heating effective. we didn't want to go home.

We Would use the cottage again because we were visiting family and the cottage was in a very convenient location for us.. If we were just going for a holiday there are lots of nicer places to stay in that area. No washing machine, no dishwasher, showers were a dribble, needed a deep clean however it was a nice bungalow with pretty views over countryside. The sink was blocked when we got there so my poor husband had to remove the u bend and unblock it. Not a pleasant experience. The shower head was dirty but only required a wipe to clean it up. The underfloor heating was great but difficult to control. We were either boiling hot or freezing cold. Lovely bungalow but It just felt a bit unloved.

Really happy with our stay in modern open plan house.. Balcony was good sitting area. House located in quiet location. Thank you.

June 2019
The cottage was lovely and the view amazing.. The bed was very comfortable and the underfloor heating a boon as the weather was not warm. However, I felt the standard of linen and towels was poor and the fact that there wasn't a washing machine meant they couldn't be washed. I would have expected fresh linen etc after a week. Also, the crockery was very basic. A bit of weeding and renewal of plants in pots would make it look more welcoming. My husband and I are elderly but fit , so the steps didn't worry us but maybe it should be mentioned in the description ? And to we Aussies, the showers were pathetic ! I don't like to be negative , we had a great time because of where the cottage is situated near to many old friends but it would have been better had the things I've mentioned been there.
Mrs Vernon-rogers, June 2019
June 2019
Cottage was beautifully furnished, comfortable beds, very clean throughout.. Superb views. Lovely area for a holiday, Cawsands and Kingsands beautiful old worldly and Polperro and Looe. Would have been nice to have had larger bath towels, those supplied were just adequate. Instructions on the showers would have been helpful, I found the water either scolding hot or freezing cold, as I could not find the correct setting. Note on booking to say no hair drier would have been helpful. Though some what basic to some places we've stayed with Sykes I would visit again and recommend to friends and family
Mrs Ford, June 2019

There were no facilities for recycling in the property and no instructions for where recycling sites were located.. The property was surprisingly noisy from the adjacent roads.

Maybe to have thickness of the curtains to help keep daylight out in the bedrooms.. Also think that it would be useful to have known that the traffic can be heard in the main bedroom. l was woken frequently due to the flow of constant vehicles.

DVD player not good.. No washing machine. Double bed needs replacing (slatts fall out). Otherwise really good, love to stay again.

June 2018
The cottage.. was lovely exactly as described in your brochure. Everything was lovely, very clean, the big picture windows/doors with views of the river were wonderful, location (near to the coast) was great. My only issue was no wooden spoons when doing cooking and also because it was such a hot week when we stayed there no swimming pool to jump in at end of the day!! All in all a really good cottage to stay in in a lovely part of Britain.

All very easy.. Quick response by phone and email when I asked for key collections details at the last minute. Very nice accommodation at a good price. Great area. Lovely to find an unspoiled corner of Cornwall with easy access to Plymouth.

Fantastic location, a real hideaway.. Lovely view over the estuary, and easy access to Devon and Cornwall and Plymouth. The balcony, windows and outside furniture could have been cleaned which would have made our stay more enjoyable.

What a great find! ! :) Super accommodation (bigger than you think) and like previous reviews state, the photos just don't do the property justice! We went for New Year, so the log fire was a bonus, even though the under floor heating was also amazing, just a tad much for our dog! Some great local walks just a few miles away with some spectacular beaches. The local dog friendly pub is a lovely place to go too . The only slight negatives are both the showers are not particularly powerful and the DVD player is showing signs of age and would benefit with being replaced. However saying this, it certainly wouldn't stop me from booking this property again.....I would totally recommend!! A cordless dyson would be a fab addition for leaving this excellent accommodation spic and span (especially on having a dog), once we found the hoover, under a bed, we found it wasn't great for picking up dog hairs.

Very relaxing holiday views were magnificent everything was perfect

October 2016
The views were better than shown.. The cottage was roomy and cosy, helped by underfloor heating. Although this was not controllable and we had to ensure we switched it off early so we weren't too warm in bed and then turn it on when we got up to make tea. Not a problem once you realise. Towel rails would help as wet towels could not be dried. The position as well as the views, was ideal for visiting that area of Cornwall and Plymouth. We loved Portwrinkle.
Mr Keeping, July 2017

This was the second time we stayed in this lovely property.. So ihr expectations werden already high.
Mrs Gee-Smith, October 2016
August 2016
The view was really lovely.. There wasn't any welcome pack though or starter wood for the fire. If you arrive late on the Saturday there isn't anywhere local to eat out really unless you pre book somewhere or drive out quite far.The local pub is really a restaurant and you need to book. The twin beds weren't too comfortable and quite noisy when you turn over in your sleep.

The location of the property is excellent with a stunning view over the river Lynher. Antony is on the bus route, so we were able to leave the car there and travel to The Rame Peninsula and Plymouth without worrying about expensive parking fees. After long days, walking the dog, it was a welcoming and comfortable bungalow to come home to.

Cottage has the wow factor as soon as you walk in. Clean and comfortable with lovely view. Would stay there again. A hair dryer, bathroom curtains and some coffee provided would have been nice touches. Double bed could do with a new mattress as it was not so comfortable after a couple of nights. Couldn't get the hang of the heating but the wood fire was nice. Good location but no place close by for a nice dog walk, you needed to go in the car. A nasty bend to cross to get to the lane where cottage is but a lot of places to visit within a few miles.

The property was open plan and modern in style but still warm and welcoming.. We had everything we needed for our self catering stay. The under floor heating was really good and easy to operate although most days we did not need it as it was mild compared to Yorkshire weather. The bathrooms and showers were excellent. The kitchen had everything we needed. The views from the windows were stunning. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property. It was very dog friendly whilst being finished to a very high standard.

We stayed at the cottage with another couple and our little dog. It had everything we needed from comfy seating, spectacular views, a fully stocked kitchen, a nice welcome pack and flowers in the vase, comfy beds and two bathrooms. The interior was open plan and modern so it felt spacious yet homely and we could all chat whilst cooking and enjoying a glass of wine. Finished to a high standard yet felt at ease. Even though the weather was not kind when we were on holiday we still managed a lovely walk around Edgecombe Park, the passenger ferry across to Plymouth and some lovely drives out to the famous places of Boscastle, Padstow and Port Isaac. Would highly recommend this property and would stay again.

Highly recommended! On arrival we were delighted that the cottage was even nicer than it looked in the photos, and these were impressive enough. There is lots to like about it - very spacious, modern, well designed with lots of interesting details, and in a beautiful secluded location with superb views across the ever changing estuary with Dartmoor in the distance. Everything you need for an enjoyable stay is there, even a pair of binoculars to help enjoy the view! The pub in the village is just a short walk down the road and where we were always given a friendly welcome. Although there is a community shop in the village, we rarely found this open, so you need to be more than a little organised with your shopping and provisions. We went as a couple with a dog, and found the short lane outside the front fine for early morning and evening 'essential' walks, but the Wacker Quay to antony Trail, which winds along the edge of the water for much of its length, was a lovely return walk. Our favourite places for eating and drinking were the Edgcombe arms at Cremyll, (overlooking the water towards Plymouth), and the beach cafe at Seaton where you can feel at ease with a dog. However, the cottage is so nice that at times it was tempting to just stay in and relax!

Fantastic views from large picture windows, overlooking the river and the distant hills. Semi detatched and about 25 yds. from the main road. This cottage has everything you need, the garden is small but there is a sun deck. When approaching from the ferry at Torpoint the turn off the main rd Is on a blind bend, and can be a little hairy, no problem coming from the South, although the locals should do something about the verge at the junction as it is overgrown and blocks your view on leaving the side rd. The cottage was nice and clean with a welcome pack. It is handy for all the places on the Rame peninsular. We would highly recommend this cottage but beware steps down to the front door if you have elderly guests, would definatly return.

Spacious and comfortable for 2 and would still be adequate for a couple and two children; replacing all mattresses would push the score up further. Under-floor heating worked very well though we had less success with the wood-burner. The quiet location has good estuary views to the north yet it is just a short journey to the ferry in order to get into Plymouth: it's also a good location from which to explore eastern Cornwall.
