Chester has quite rightly been described as 'the jewel of the North-West of England'. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the city is that within a very small area there is evidence of every period of history - from the old walls and amphitheatre of Roman times, through medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed town houses and Georgian terraces, to Victorian restorations and 21st century architecture. The city has much to offer.

Region
Chester is a beautiful and historic border city. Walk its ancient walls, discover the Roman remains and experience 21st Century shopping in the unique half-timbered medieval ‘Rows’ at the city’s heart.

A beautiful house in a fabulous location, very close to the city but in a quiet area with amazing views of the river, loved it!

The location was perfect, very quiet but also not far from town.. Stunning view with lots to see throughout the day and plenty of seating on various levels. Our only negative was the work vans which did block us in, however a neighbour was very helpful and I am sure this was only a temporary issue. Would definitely stay again.

The location of the property was perfect for my elderly parents.. They were able to enjoy leisurely strolls along the river and up to Chester centre. The views from the property over the river were amazing. On New Years eve we lit the open fire in the snug and at midnight we went out into the garden and watched fireworks going off all along the river whilst sipping champagne, it was brilliant and really made our New Year. Chester is a beautiful and very friendly place and what they have done In the market place is a credit to both the stall holders and the council

Beautiful property.. First time in a rented property. Had all essentials in kitchen with clementines /mince pies left for us ( thank you !). Very well looked after. Felt instantly at home. Decor is gorgeous and classic. Kitchen was superb and to have access to a snug with a log fire was perfect for the cold winter evenings. Maybe a small investment could be made into the sofas for comfort. There is a day bed In addition and the design is in keeping but a comfy sofa would be more beneficial to families. We will most definitely be wanting to stay in this property for our next visit. Stunningly beautiful

The accommodation was very good, just as described.. On arrival, the entry lock didn't work, and we could not gain admittance. The property maintenance team were so helpful, especially George, who stayed with us until his colleagues arrived. Very professional approach by maintenance team, and we were in the property very quickly. Superb location of property, lovely River view and near to city centre. Accommodation clean, warm, beds good. We stayed in winter, but in summer, with access to garden and overlooking River, it would be so lovely.Lovely park nearby, with tame squirrels that children love feeding. Very quiet location.Highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay in Chester, the house lived up to expectations and was extremely comfortable.. Well equipped with comfortable beds and pretty views over the river, we do intend to return at some stage for another stay. The only minor concern we had was the parking arrangements which weren’t marked very clearly and we weren’t sure exactly where to park. All round a 5 star holiday home, highly recommended.

We really enjoyed our holiday at 12 Deva Terrace, in a beautiful position next to the River Dee, yet close to Chester centre.. However it would have been useful to have a sun parasol in the garden To enhance our enjoyment.

This is a wonderfully situated property overlooking the River Dee and near the City Centre.. It has all the mod cons as well as charming original features. We didn’t want for anything while we were there and a caretaker is readily available and helpful if you have any questions. I would certainly recommend this property to anyone thinking if staying in Chester.

Visiting family, Chester zoo, Blue planet aquarium, Chester city, walking the Roman walls, seeing the Roman history, Chester boat trip, watching the activities on the river from the comfort of the holiday let, feeding the ducks from the garden and the beautiful Grosvenor park with its Squirrels which you can walk through to the lovely shopping areas thus avoiding most of the roads..

The house is beautiful and was clean and well equipped except that one of the chairs in the main living area had springs sticking up and could not be sat in because it was so uncomfortable.. I felt that the gardens had not been taken care of and looked rather shabby and overgrown. The patio was full of weeds and rather mucky and the steps down to the grassed area on the river were difficult to get down because of the overgrowth. I rented this property 5 years ago and felt that the outside was better looked after and more pleasant to sit outside so was a little disappointed.

Lovely Edwardian terraced house tastefully decorated with very nice pictures on the walls.. Perfect location next to the river but also close to the center and an excellent location for visiting Chester zoo.

Stated two bathrooms ( simbles of bath with shower over x2) but only 1 bathroom! Toilet and small basin sited in lounge area! Had to un block sink in bathroom( not very welcoming for us) leaking radiator in lounge area in which a bowl from the kitchen cupboard was placed on floor and blue bottle fly in bowl!!! ( lifeless) also not welcoming for us all!! Very dusty and window sills sash windows and frames dirty and sticky! Work tops and kitchen table very sticky and un clean, broken tea pot left by kettle & very dirty!! All draws greasy and sticky (inside) Sofa (cream) needs some TLC & other furnishings ( especially the tub chair, springs gone!!) We was so looking forward to our stay at 12 Deva Terrace but will not be returning!! Such a shame as it is the most beautiful house in such an idyllic area, owners need to chase up cleaning of such a beautiful house & furnishings. Such a shame about the house but absolutely enjoyed our stay in Chester ( we normally stay in hotel in chester, been returning to Chester every year x5 years now! We thought we would try house/ cottage in Chester with our friend's as looked and sounded so beautiful matching in with such a beautiful place chester is, so sorry for the review but just been honest and truthful.

Suggestion, the information about the boiler operation would be better put in a laminated folder & left out in the kitchen.. Arriving as we did later in the evening very tired & finding no hot water was a shock but reading the owners folder next day revealed all. Other than that we had a very enjoyable stay.

Upon arrival we found the house stone-cold.. Turning the heating thermostat up yielded no result. Tried to call the listed service number, no response. It was when I found the boiler that I discovered that the heating water was set as low as 38 degrees centigrade. I changed this to a normal temperature of around 60 degrees. The house very slowly warmed up. The house was also quite dusty. I could write my name in the dust on the floors, the mantlepiece, etc. cutlerly in the kitchen was there but of a very awkward design (like a dagger). It was not thoroughly clean either. We found dirty crockery in the dishwasher, left behind by previous guests. The bed in the master-bedroom was very hard and quite uncomfortable. All things considered, a bit dissapointing. I would also suggest to write on your website that the stairs are very steep.

This is the second time we've stayed at this beautiful property, we just love it and will certainly be back again!

Deva Terrace was an excellent choice as it was everything it seemed from the Website - clean, comfortable and cosy. And it was very well situated in the city centre however tucked away in a quiet terrace overlooking the River Dee. Chester was a great base to explore the surrounding cities and countryside. The city, itself, is a real English gem. Wonderful.

12 Deva Terrace is in a exceptional location and has unique riverside views. It is Elegant and has tasteful furnishings with all modern comforts. A homely feel in a distinguished property. A privilege and pleasure to spend a week in such fine surroundings. On the one occasion I had to contact the property manager and Sykes they were both very helpful and responsive.

Great location close to centre of Chester. 12 Deva Terrace had fantastic views directly over the River Dee and the local park and a necessary car parking space. We were near enough to be a short (5-10 mins) walk to the centre of Chester yet away from the noisy areas for a peaceful stay. Accommodation to a high standard and spotlessly clean in a period Grade 2 listed building. Surprising that it is not marketed for 6 rather than 4 . Particularly liked sitting out on the terrace with a coffee watching the boats on the river and the local wildlife. Would stay here again.

A lovely house and area, very convenient for most things in Chester. Felt like a home rather than a holiday let.

The property was in a lovely and convenient location. Really enjoyed having breakfast out in the garden looking over the river. The lounge was comfy and we loved sitting looking out of the window watching the traffic on the river!
