We have recently returned home from what can oh be described as one of the best holidays we have been on. The house itself is in a fantastic location overlooking the harbour. It is five minute walk to the town centre but also away from the hustle and bustle. The house is well equipped and had a variety of things you would need. The attention to detail was fantastic especially for family holidays. The beds were comfy and although the house does have stairs these were safe with three young children. We just had a safety chat before hand about holding on to the rail etc. The bedrooms were all spacious and well equipped with very comfy beds and soft linen. Thankyou for a fantastic stay we are looking forward to booking again soon.

This property has the potential to be gorgeous, we stayed here last July and we’re very impressed, but sadly it has been neglected over the last 18 months and our recent stay was very disappointing. Unfortunately, this time we found the property to be dirty, shabby and in desperate need of repair, i.e., leaking radiators, broken panes of glass, threadbare carpets, over worn furniture, broken blinds to name a few. It also has very steep, turning stairs, which serving 3 floors, and unfortunately the hand rail is coming away from the wall, this needs fixing before an accident happens.

wanting a short family break we booked this accommodation and paid a deposit to Sykes Cottages. The accommodation did state it had steep stairs, Perhaps we should have checked Sykes reviews before booking (lesson learned). Comments were that the property had very steep stairs with sharp turns. We immediately rang to change the bookings because we had two heavily pregnant ladies in our group. We did not want a refund but just to change the venue, we were also happy to pay any administration fee to move. The reply was a resounding no despite our circumstances I have to say it demonstrates a complete inflexibility and a total disregard for their clients. We have booked numerous accommodation thruoghout the UK. This the first, a very last time we will book with Sykes. Apologies to the owners of Church Street, I'm sure your property is wonderful but it just didn't meet out needs. learn from our lesson read the reviews!

The cottage was a great size and perfect for our party size.. There was a little more that could of been done cleanliness wise, however it wasn’t terrible. The bed in the attic needs to be replaced. It was extremely uncomfortable. The carpet leading up to the attic was loose and could of easily be tripped on so I would recommend this to be repaired before anyone else stays there. The welcome tea and coffee package was great and very much appreciated.

Everything in the listing was as described.. Unfortunately, there were several issues that left us feeling disappointed. The worst was a bad smell coming from the toilet drain in the attic bathroom. The owner arranged for someone to come and try to fix this on the Tuesday of our stay, but the smell was still present for the rest of our visit. In the second floor bathroom the sink plug didn’t close properly, so we couldn’t run a sink of water for washing or shaving. In the first floor bathroom the shower tray was slow to drain away. On inspection there was a large amount of matted hair and muck in the drain - it obviously hadn’t been cleaned for a while. Elsewhere we would have liked more mugs to save having to wash them by hand for each meal. Also a couple more pans and a grill rack would have been useful, and a teapot! Finally, it would have been nice to have instructions for which bin to put out and when. Only by chance were we able to do the recycling on the correct day.

The house was just as good as it looked on the photos, excellent location for walking into town and well set up for large groups or families.. It was very clean and I think my only suggestion to give it that extra special touch would be to maybe include a little welcome pack with some basics such as tea, coffee, sugar, milk, bread etc and a few toiletries in the bathrooms but generally we had no complaints. The adverts were very clear and honest about the stairs and the higher you go the steeper they get. The stairwell was quite narrow so it was a little difficult getting luggage to the bedrooms but it kept us all fit. I contacted Sykes to enquire about a late check out, they were very professional and prompt in the way the call was handled and managed to get this agreed with the owner for us. A brilliant time was had by all and we would definitely recommend the house and Sykes.

Visited this property this weekend and I couldn’t of expected more! Enough space for us all to be able to move around without getting on top of each other. The property was in such a good location, everything within walking distance. The house was clean and fully equipped with everything we needed for our weekend stay. The rooms were modern and well presented with a good room lay out. Even the little details were there eg. Soft towels laid out on the bed. And the beds.... well they were soooo comfy and soft! Would definitely recommend and will be going back there in the near future.

This house is lovely.. It is over 4 floors so a good climb to bed if your on the top floor, lovely views though when you do get there. You do have to duck a lot but the listing does say that. One guest was over 6ft so didn’t even attempt the top room. The stairs are steep so anyone that struggles with steps I wouldn’t suggest this house. My family loved it. The kitchen is lovely and has everything you need, plenty of plates, glasses, cutlery etc. Lovely fluffy towels on the beds ready for the very stylish bathrooms. Shower on 1st floor is amazing! Lovely bed linen, comfortable sofas Perfect location with a short walk into the town. We were lucky to visit during the regatta which was great. Also good crab fishing spot right outside the house which was great. We did crab fish at the Fleece as suggested by the owner.

First impressions not favourable when we couldn't open the key safe to gain entry.. Had to wait outside until a passing photographer who worked for Sykes was able to open the safe. We were informed by yourselves that the cleaner had trouble that morning. The kitchen was not clean : remains of a dog biscuit on the floor, dirty crockery and cutlery in the cupboards, crumbs and food left by the previous tenant in the cupboards. I did not expect to start cleaning floors cupboards and set the dishwasher off to clean all the dirty crockery and cutlery upon arrival. Upstairs in the first bedroom the light inside the wardrobe was just hanging by the wires and the screws left in the wood. During the holiday 2of the older children aged 8and 10 years became upset when they couldn't open the doors to the bedroom and bathroom. Towels had to be placed on the floor to prevent a repeat of these accidents. When reading the previous tenants notes in the feedback book the same incident had occurred. This proves that Sykes do not take any notice of the feedback or have the courtesy to answer the phone message my daughter left after her child was trapped in the bathroom.
