The community, once recognised for producing the best tin, still has remnants of its rich history, such as abandoned pump houses, mine shafts, and workers' cottages to show for it. At low tide, Perranporth's three-mile-long sandy beach is surrounded by rugged rocks that are ideal for rock pooling.
