The cottage is cosy and comfortable.. We love all the homely touches - really appreciated all the extras the owner made available. Although the cottage is in the middle of the town it is very quiet and so is ideally situated. Clitheroe itself is a lovely little town to visit and we love its castle. There are plenty of good walks in the area.

We enjoyed every moment of our stay in Clitheroe.. The cottage was warm, comfortable and immaculate and Claire was a wonderful host with willingness to be flexible about changing sheets, cleaning the cottage etc. We enjoyed the town, although initially found the one way system a little hard to negotiate, but it was well worth the effort with enjoyable visits to local restaurants and we loved the proximity of Booths Supermarket which was within walking distance as was the castle whose museum was a pleasant surprise. We would enthusiastically recommend this cottage if you are looking for a home away from home nestled in the beautiful English countryside.

The quality of this accommodation was exceptional .. Ideal for access to facilities in town such as shops and market, all within walking distance. The cleanliness of the property was outstanding matched by the comfort. Its location allows access to motorways for travel north and south and into the lake district and Yorkshire. Private parking was a bonus. We strongly recommend this property and we will be booking again.

We had an excellent trip, Claire's cottage is perfect and very well located.. The area around Clitheroe is well worth exploring, beautiful walking and interesting museums both in the town and at Ribchester. The market in Clitheroe is good and there are some exceptional shops. Highly recommended.

Clitheroe and the surrounding villages/countryside are lovely.. The cottage is in a central location near to the castle and market making everywhere easily accessible on foot. There are some lovely walks both from Clitheroe itself Including some along the river and also into the surrounding countryside. This is a really lovely area, the villages are very pretty and most of them have nice pube serving food as well as cafes. This is a good base for a relaxing holiday with lots of places to visit within a short distance.

Sykes seem to have given us the wrong telephone number (Tel 2).. The listing should have said that the property had no private space such as a courtyard or garden. This could have been important for families with children but not a big deal for us though. The lock on the front door was rather difficult to turn, needs adjustment or lubrication. We found the duvets too heavy for summer weather.

A perfect break spent at 1 The Stables last week.. Great accommodation. Very clean and very cosy too. A real home from home. Location is fab. Loved looking out over the stable door at the buzz of the market. Really close to the centre too with its large choice of cafes, pubs and restaurants. Nearby supermarkets were also a bonus. Would love to return.

I would highly recommend this cottage - the facilities are excellent and the owner available, friendly and approachable.. The cottage was very clean and cosy with every convenience provided; washer/dryer (with tabs), dishwasher (with tabs), washing up liquid, all cooking utensils and laundry facilities. It has two comfortable double bedrooms and a bathroom with separate shower cubicle. The location is excellent - right across from Clitheroe Castle and within easy walking distance of Clitheroe town centre, all shops, the market and train station. Within five minutes drive you are in beautiful countryside. There is an allocated parking space right next to the cottage which is very convenient. Overall an excellent base to explore the area and great to come back to in the afternoon/evening. Thank you, Claire!

Amazing to be so close to the centre of town, but be in such a quiet, safe, peaceful location.. Public transport (train and bus interchange) is an easy 5 minute walk away. Shops, bars, restaurants - minutes away. Look straight up to the tower of Clitheroe Castle from one of the comfy leather sofas in the living room. The ground floor has a well equipped, clean and spacious kitchen diner, with a proper dining table and chairs - thank you. Everything you need for self catering, with nice crockery and glassware. Spacious, warm and comfortable lounge. Upstairs, two immaculate and comfortable double bedrooms, one is particularly spacious. Good beds, pillows, linen and towels (even face flannels). The huge bathroom has separate bath and shower. This is a cosy, but not poky, cottage. The central hearing kept the whole place toasty warm in the cool evenings. Good, safe car parking by the side of the cottage. Lots of nice little touches by the owners, such as quality hand wash and lotion, welcome pack so you can have a fresh brew (with lovely biscuits) when you arrive or (my preference) a glass of chilled fizz! A real gem of a place. Highly recommended.
