1 Manor Barn is a stone-built barn conversion situated in the lovely Dales village of Carperby and can sleep six people. There are two king-size double bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room, a twin bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen with dining area, a sitting room with a woodburner and a snug. Outside there is off road parking for two cars and an enclosed rear/side lawned garden with patio and furniture. 1 Manor Barn is a wonderful base and a great touring location to explore the Yorkshire Dales.

Area
Situated close to well-known Aysgarth Falls and the impressive Bolton Castle - which dates back to 1379 - the idyllic Wensleydale village of Carperby is set within excellent walking country. The village offers a pub serving good food, and there's an excellent range of amenities in the nearby market town of Leyburn. The villages of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale are both easily accessible from Carperby and make for lovely days out, whilst the surrounding countryside provides a wealth of walking and cycling paths amidst the charming scenery.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

Beautiful cottage plenty of space for the three grandchildren(15, and 19) that travelled with us.. Probably not enough toilet rolls for us all. When we first arrived we ended up on the Manor Farm Road, as it is the same postcode as Manor Barn. Thus there was a slight muddle when we had our Asda shopping delivered. Prior to us setting off for Carperby I did have a phone call from Asda saying there was 2 deliveries for the post code I had entered. All was resolved when the shopping arrived. Just a bit confusing, as there is a number 1 Manor Barn and I Manor Farm down different drives. There is no sign at the end of the drive we had to use to say that MANOR BARN is down this drive. As usual we had a great holiday.

Instructions on access to cottage confusing.. Key to front door left under flower pot at rear. No explanation about this and we tried to open the rear door. Unable to do this as it was locked on the inside. We then tried the front door. Left us feeling anxious about gaining entry especially when tired after a long journey. Inside the cottage is a folder with very explicit instructions to things including how to gain entry to the cottage!!

The directions to the cottage could have been clearer.. The photograph is of the front of the property but the directions take you to the rear. There is a board that has No1 on it but nothing else except a picture of an owl! We encountered a very rude gentleman who wouldn’t allow us to park just to enable us to check we had the right location. The cottage is lovely but there were some minor points that let it down. The bed in the second bedroom hadn’t been made up so we had to do it. There was no towel or toilet roll in the downstairs toilet, there was no bath mat to prevent slipping in the bath and no mat to stand on in either of the bathrooms and no hair drier. We could also have done with something more substantial to wash up with in addition to the small cloth. There is a dishwasher but this would have been a waste with the few items we had to wash up each day. Generally, however, it was very roomy and comfortable and in a lovely location.

There is a pub within walking distance but no other shops.. It's good to be prepared and bring some essentials for breakfast. The cottage has provide some tea/coffee and milk which was nice when we arrived. The cottage was really comfortable for 4 adults and our baby. Plenty of space to relax in the cottage when we needed a day in, some DVDs to relax and lots of info on walks in the local area.

Well equipped comfortable cottage.. Lovely new kitchen. Ample room for the 6 of us (4 adults and 2 children). Lots of information of walks etc to do in the area. Lovely walk from the door to Castle Bolton. Good base for exploring the area.

This is a very well appointed cottage in a lovely village with a good pub.. Both Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are within walking distance and the scenery is spectacular.

Some of the exterior lights weren't working.. Had to use a torch in the dark once we discovered that as there are a few steps and a couple of gates to get to the front door from the car parking space. There was also a very limited supply of washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets(just one!) and no spare loo rolls. A sign on the road would be helpful as the driveway to neighbouring properties is very close. One of the cottage owners wasn't too pleased as two of our cars came into the wrong driveway to start with! Apart from that the cottage was very comfortable with all the facilities we needed, and in a quite, convenient village.

Excellent accommodation home from home.. Very well equipped, we were snowed in for a couple of days and were so warm and comfortable.The owner Andrew took the trouble to phone to check that we were ok and also arranged for more logs for the log burner, we were very surprised by his caring attitude. This is not just a holiday home you can tell that it is used by the owners because of all the little touches.

The cottage was extremely comfortable, warm and very well equipped and clean, its in a good location for walks with a very welcoming pub in the village, there were 6 adults and one baby in the cottage with plenty of room for everyone, overall we all had a lovely relaxing time.. Thank you.
