The house was very clean and well equiped with everything you could want for a week away The equipement is all good qualify and the knives are even sharp.. . The owners live in a flat underneath the property however we didn't see them often We had an issue with the shower and Keith tried to resolve the issue He believed the problem was with the boiler so he was waiting for a plumber to resolve the problem There is an inventory of items in the houseand iincluding in each drawer- not up to date but still an inventory including a list of all 50 DVDs. We found this a little off putting and found that we were constantly checking to ensure we had put things in the right drawers Whilst we are aware that other cottages have inventories these have not been kept in the property and we gave not been privy to them A beautiful part of the country and a lovely house but the inventory made us feel uncomfortable

Could do with hooks on backs of bedroom doors and a tea strainer, then it would be perfect! ! Highly recommended for location if wanting to explore Hadrian's Wall. Owners very friendly.

Beautiful house, very clean and well equipped even for my large family.. We had a fantastic week here with plenty to do to keep everyone happy, we visited The Roman Army museum and Vindolanda, Beamish, we left our car at Holtwhistle car park (free parking) and for a reasonable price took the train to Newcastle to visit the The science of life museum (next door to the station), there are so many lovely places to explore. The area is beautiful and we would definitely book again, the owners were lovely and very accommodating.

The property was very nice and big and we'll equipped.. The proximity to Hadrian's wall and it's surrounding area's was amazing. Such great history. The only downside is that the property did not have a garden as shown in the photos on website. There is room for a bench at the front of the house so maybe the owner can think about putting one out there for people to sit and have a cuppa outside or read a book in the fresh air. XXX OWNER RESPONSE XXX Many thanks for your feedback and we are are happy for guests to use our patio seating area however, we take on board your comments regarding having a bench outside this particular property.

The photographs shown on the web page were cleverly taken.. No garden to speak of and no drying facilities for rain soaked clothing. However, the cottage is really well fitted out and very clean. All the family enjoyed their stay and Mr & Mrs Waugh were welcoming and helpful. XXX OWNER RESPONSE XXX Many thanks for your feedback and we are glad to hear your family enjoyed their stay. Guests are welcome to use our patio seating area and we are looking into a separate seating area for this property.

We allowed the children to choose our accommodation this year.. They each wanted a bedroom of their own as they don't get that luxury at home. We expected this to bump the price considerably but Alpha Rise came up and looked beautiful, modern and clean in its pictures. We booked a weeks stay at the back end of July. Our stay was fab, we were lucky to receive good weather and only had one day of rain. The owners were lovely and showed us around on arrival telling us where to find everything we would need and also adding that they were available should we have any problems. The property was presented just as its pictures and so much more. We really felt at home and could have happily extended our stay. The local area was a delight, we took the car off every day and visited somewhere new. We took walks along portions of Hadrian's wall, visited the Roman Army Museum and Vindolanda. There are some great pubs serving home cooked food so well worth at least a couple of meals out. I've already recommended this property to others and would certainly revisit myself.

No sitting area outside.. Owners living next door and using the outdoor furniture which is in front of their door. Yes there is a garden of sorts but does not really belong to the property.

Spent a week here meeting up with 2 friends. The house was brilliant, owners very friendly and if you need any thing you just have to ask. In a quite village with 2 pubs and a cafe. within easy walking distance of Harrians wall and other wall areas within a short drive away. Would recommend this to any one wishing to visit Hadrians wall.

This property is set in a stunning rural location yet within a short distance there are plenty of activities to do, historic sites to visit and excellent dining spots.. The property itself and the facilities provided are the best I have ever encountered.

The house was beautifully appointed and full of little touches that make life easier - the kitchen was well equipped for cooking and all the bathrooms stocked with essentials.. It was much better in every way than our own house!! You might also consider mentioning the proximity of the railway line as watching the trains was a real highlight for the younger members of our party!

The only reason I didn't give excellent for location is the lack of shops of Grisland.. In all other respects the location was excellent, very close to Hadrian's Wall with good walks both east and west along by the wall. The owners allowed us to recharge our electric car from their mains supply (we paid for the extra electricity). This made travelling around much simpler than it might otherwise have been and meant we could set off home with 240 miles of range which made the return journey to Hampshire very easy.
