July 2020
Mostly very satisfactory and comfortable accommodation.. Just a couple of small issues. The toilet seat was too small and didn’t fit properly and the water in the bathroom was inconsistent with hot water.

This was a modern semi bungalow near the centre of Grange over Sands - clean, modern, comfortable, well equipped.. Nothing we could want for really. It is situated up a steep hill and has steps to access so may not be suitable for those with mobility problems. Parking outside & good decking to rear garden. Lots to do in surrounding area & stunning views of Morecambe Bay from the front windows. We would certainly return for another holiday here.

I’d read the comments from others and they are all fair comments.. The owner is lovely and very knowledgeable about the area. There is a hill but then you don’t look down on amazing views without being up a hill. There is one pub in the village called The Commodore we had lunch here one day. It was ok but drinks are very pricey. We drove to another one nearby called The Pheasant Inn very popular with families again it was ok. The nicest food was a pub in Lindale about 10 min drive called The Royal Oak lovely menu nice atmosphere. You can get all these pubs websites up and look at their menus. Grange over sands has everything you need a Spar a Tesco Express & a Co-Op. There is a lovely butchers opposite the spar and a nice fish & chip shop opposite the co-op and on the same side as the chippy just a bit further along is the bakery. We walked from Hillside to the promenade a few times and it’s a good walk. The prom has some nice cafes if you wish to stop. The views are great. Overall a good location ideally placed for you to explore the surrounding areas.

The accommodation was excellent.. Very clean, spacious, comfortable and very well laid out. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay and we had a fantastic holiday. Grange over sands offers a great range of shops ranging from bakeries to coffee shops. You must also try out the fish and chip shop there and enjoy the walk along the promise which offers amazing views

Comfortable and clean.. Quiet location yet very convenient for the town. Great views. Would definitely stay there again.

This property is rated 5 star, but lacks many items which you would expect to find in a highly rated cottage.. There is no cleaning products, a lack of cloths, only 1 loo roll was provided, no handsoap, no shaving point, no additional TV (usually in 1 of the bedrooms) no clocks in bedrooms. We have stayed in many cottages over the years, some 3 and 4 star, and this is the only one where things of this nature are not supplied, we have even had small toiletries and tissues as additional luxuries, but nothing like that is provided here. Also the bedroom drawers should have had a dust, you don't really want other people's hair or fluff or nail files left for you to find ! It is comfortable and warm with good views over Grange over Sands, which is a lovely place to stay (cottage is at the top of a very steep road) but these little extras, in our opinion, would have truly rated this as 5 star.

A very nice base for our stay in the lakes cottage had everything we needed and owner was very friendly when we contacted re key collection.. the only negative we had was the access to the dwelling from the town the banks were very steep

July 2015
This was a very comfortable property, fairly central and well placed for the Lakes but not so close for the town to be crowded. There was plenty of room and equipment for four people. We found Hillside to be very much a home from home.

May 2015
This is the nicest cottage I have ever spent a holiday in. The owners have obviously put a lot of thought and care into making it a comfortable and homely place to stay. It is spotlessly clean, has all the modern conveniences, lovely furniture and a beautiful patio garden to relax in. The location is close to town and yet in a peaceful setting with a beautiful view. Grange itself is a picturesque little town with a long promenade and lovely gardens. It has a bakery making sumptuous bread and cakes which opens early for those eager to start the day with fresh bread. I would definately return and recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a relaxing stay in the Lake District.
Mrs Raffle
April 2015
The property was very comfortable and clean. The location was very central to Grange, we loved Grange-over-Sands with the promenade and local shops. This is the best property we have stayed. It is clean, tidy modern and everything you can think of to make your stay perfect. It is a credit to the owners? Grange itself is a small town but very friendly people are here and dogs are catered for most of the time? Would definitely come back again and a must to stay at Hillside. Thank you

Hillside was out of this world, it was peaceful and we had good weather. It was just what we needed and Jack the dog loved it.
Mrs Galway
June 2014
The week we spent in Hillside was truly excellent. The property was superb throughout in terms of equipment, decor, comfort and security. Additional thoughtful touches made our stay a really pleasant one. It was located in a quiet cul-de-sac close to Grange, so convenient for shopping and exploring the locality,as well as for the good bus and train services. There is so much to explore in this part of Cumbria. One of the best holidays we have had.

April 2014
We had an absolutely fabulous holiday! The accommodation was just as described, if not more so. Everybody was friendly and even had time to fuss over our puppy! Grange-over-Sands is an excellent place to stay for a relaxing holiday with plenty to do in surrounding areas.

December 2013
Extremely well presented cottage. Quiet, and in good central location, though some people would find the steep hill something of a challenge. We are regular visitors to Grange, and enjoy its slightly oldfashioned charm, excellent butchers, bakery, and brass band concerts. Many places are accessible by bus or train so there is no need to use a car. Only crticism was the total absence of cleaning materials - and the elegant but rather difficult to use bathroom taps!
Mrs McGill
November 2013
Excellent property, all furnishings and equipment to a high standard. Everything you need for a lovely holiday. Lovely house with lovely views. Would recommend this property to anyone wanting a holiday in the lovely lake district.
Mrs Dunscombe
October 2013
Very clean, very comfortable property, fitted out to a very high standard. We felt completely at home. The views were to die for. The town itself was only a 10 minute walk away, and had a very good range of cafes and shops. Very pleasant walks along the well kept ornamental gardens and duck pond, also the promenade (accessible through the tunnel under the railway line). Highly recommend the walk through Eggerslack Wood up to Hampsfell Hospice, with amazing views over Morecambe Bay and the Kent Estuary. Would love to return.

Everything about this cottage was first class. We had a lovely holiday and everything that you could possibly need was provided, the decor and furnishings were lovely and of a good standard. My son loved the wifi (so did I). In all the cottages we have stayed in with our dog this is the top of the list!

March 2013
We have just returned from a weeks stay at Hillside and there is absolutely nothing to fault with this accommodation. The decor is lovely and all the furnishings are to a very high standard, my son loved the internet and if I am honest so did I. We loved that we could take our dog with us, Grange is very dog friendly and the residents were lovely when you were out walking your dog, everyone said good morning, we even found a restaurant that let us take her in with us to eat (area on one side for dog lovers) Gilpin Bridge Inn if anyone is interested, vegetable risotto is to die for!! The house was lovely and warm and everything you could possibly need is there. At some point we will return to Grange and Hillside is where we want to stay, we all came back a lot fitter than when we went, just need to keep it up now!! Do stay in this cottage you will not be disappointed.

The place we stayed in was just what we wanted for the holiday we planned.

September 2012
Pros Spotlessly clean and well prepared. Comfortable beds and every permanent thing you might need.Lake district attractions were all available.Broadband fine, tele good. Cons absolutley nothing left no cleaning, washing up, tea bags, spare loo roll etc which other cottages we've used have. Major shopping expedition needed when we arrived-inconvenient after travel from IW! A welcome pack would make this place extra special. Also we took the cottage because it is dog permitted but there is no lawn in the garden: just decking. I managed but dog wee and poo which I always clear up anyway had to be washed off the wood with purchased disenfectant. We do expect to be able to sit in the garden with the dog and deal with late night eliminations there. That is why we take cottage as against hotel with dog.
Mr Short

Perfect location for touring the lakes, and Grange-over-Sands is a lovely place in its own right. The cottage itself is well furnished, with some very nice touches like the Bt-vision box for the TV, and the Rangemaster stove in the kitchen. It was also nice to be able to take our dog with us, and for the cottage to be clean, with no trace of previous dogs.

December 2011
Everything was as described. A modern, recently refurbished home with all the amenities we required. Fantastic views over Morcambe Bay, the only downside is the steep hill to access the property. Not ideal for a winter location which is often what we do. Could do with somewhere to hang coats, put boots when entering the property during wet weather.
Mr Roberts
November 2011
This property is a credit to its owner, tastefully decorated just like 'home from home', ideal for touring the southern lakes but still good road contacts to the motorway. Grange-over-Sands is not to busy and with its walks along the front it made an ideal late break. We will book this property again if available next year.
Mr Smith
October 2011

Hillside was beautiful, comfortably furnished and very well equipped. The cottage was impeccably clean and the views over the bay did not disappoint. It is also in an excellent location for exploring the Lake District, and we even whiled away a few hours in Grange-over-Sands.

This property is a home away from home. It was extremely comfortable with top of the range appliances. The cottage is light and cheerful and close to many amenities.
Miss Miller
August 2011
The cottage is beautiful. We were really taken aback and it was much more than we ever expected, especially for such a good price. Even the extra's made all the difference, such as bikes to use, DVDs, jigsaw, books and boardgames. The family were never bored on an evening. Lots of wardrobe space and storage, and the kitchen was amazing, it really did have everything. The owners should be proud to own such a beautiful cottage in a lovely location and they have made an exceptional effort in ensuring your stay here is perfect. I will definitely be returning. The whole family loved it, even our small dog!
Mrs Coverdale
June 2011
