Beautiful setting & a very charming cottage.. We really enjoyed our stay & our hosts, Chris & Becky, were lovely. Plenty to do in the surrounding area. The walk from the cottage to Ashburton is well worth doing. Great for our dog as there is a separate pen for them to run around in if you don’t like your dog on a leash. Salcombe, Brixham, Paignton & Torquay all within easy reach. We felt we had everything we needed for our holiday base & loved seeing the horses everyday!

Its fully equipped with everything you need from an iron and ironing board to full kitchen facilities, board games, books and a wood burner. Clean and very spacious and we can't wait to visit again. Would Highly recommend. Thank you Higher Whiddon Farm :-)

We absolutely loved this cottage.. A really wonderful place to stay. The setting is beautiful and tranquil yet just a short drive to the coastal towns. To wake up everyday to see fantastic horses close by was an added bonus. We can’t wait to go back for another stay.

Excellent holiday cottage.. The owners who live next door were really helpful. However, in your narrative you should give better guidance as to how to find the place - Sat Nav does not really help because of all the unnamed roads. The cottage is actually in the village of Sigford. You also need to warn holiday-makers that the cottage is at the end of a very narrow, 2 mile, high-hedged, Typically-Devon country lane. It was not a problem for me, but my wife kept her eyes closed all down the lane! (I was the one driving, I should say). But great little holiday retreat.

Chris and Becky are the most amazing hosts, very welcoming but not at all intrusive.. We enjoyed getting to know the whole family, furry members included. The cottage is delightful, cosy and quaint. The location is amazing, surrounded by beautiful south Devon countryside, relaxing yet perfectly positioned for exploring all that South Devon has to offer. It’s a wonderful little gem and we’ll definitely be back. Thank you Chris and Becky xx

This is an amazing property to rent. It is a stunning cottage, very well equipped and tastefully decorated throughout. It has fabulous views and is in a great location to travel around South Devon, within easy reach of gorgeous beaches (particularly in South Hams) and lovely Devonshire villages. The A38 Express also gives easy access to many stores and shopping outlets. The cottage is situated on a farm adjacent to the lovely owners Becky, Chris & their lovely children Amelia & Joshua. They are so friendly & helpful and are really chilled. Chris is a retired successful NH Jockey and on the farm they breed and break in race horses. The new stable built this year is absolutely stunning. The horses were an added wonderful experience to our holiday. They are magnificent and I fell totally in love with all of them. It has been so interesting listening to Chris and learning about the racing industry and although we have had a great time visiting the various beaches and places during the day I have to admit that I couldn't wait to come back later in the day to have a 'horse hug' with Rex, Boo & Charlie! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this beautiful holiday let. It is a totally unique experience and so dog friendly which is the main reason we booked it. We will definitely return and wish Chris & Becky all the success with their business - they certainly deserve it!

We loved staying at our comfortable cottage for our Devon holiday.. It had everything we needed - including a washing machine that wasn't on the listing! Whilst we enjoyed the peace and quiet of our location, the high-hedge single-track road in was a little nerve wracking to begin with, but we soon got used to it. Ideal for exploring the surrounding area.

The cottage was in a beautiful location: a peaceful valley on the edge of Dartmoor.. It is a very short drive to the moor but also conveniently close to the main road network for visiting nearby coastal resorts. We particularly liked Shaldon with its ferry crossing to Teignmouth. The owners were on site, attentive and interested without being ‘in our faces’. The horses are magnificent. The cottage is spacious, clean and well furnished. I wholeheartedly recommend this cottage.

I spent a peaceful and comfortable month at Higher Whiddon Farm, during an abnormally cold February to March.. Despite the bitterly cold spell, the house was always warm - the central heating easy to manage, and the wood burner very efficient and easy to use. There was a lovely light sitting room, a very comfortable upstairs bed, splendid views, and pleasant walks from the door (I had no car). The owners live next door, and are friendly, relaxed and thoughtful. They also have two gorgeous small children whom I enjoyed meeting. Having the horses nearby is a great treat, and as a townie who knows nothing of horses, I enjoyed learning about them. I'd certainly recommend the cottage to anyone - families, couples, or people on their own. One thing worth mentioning is that if you're coming in winter, you need to bring wellies, especially for the footpath over to Ashburton. The only negative for me was the lack of an upstairs toilet. It would be wonderful if they could find a way of fitting one in.

Peaceful tranquil location in picturesque Devon farming countryside, 5 minutes from Dartmoor! This is a lovely property we had no issues during our stay with family and our two dogs. The garden is not enclosed but for responsible owners with well trained dogs this is not an issue. The owners who live nearby are very very very friendly and helpful and there was not enough they could do to make us feel welcome and to make our stay stress free. Plenty to see and do nearby. A charming cottage in a beautiful location would defiantly recommend without hesitation.
