We had a fantastic time.. Herdwicks Barn was the perfect base for us to set off from for activities in the Peak District and further afield. We generally didn't have to travel any longer than 45mins to get to attractions. The owner, Sue, was also very attentive friendly and helpful. Her local knowledge really helped us to plan our days.

This is an amazing little cottage - small enough to be cosy but just about everything you need for a perfect holiday.. This was our first break in four years and we couldn't have been more fortunate with our choice. We chose to cook and eat in every night of our holiday and the facilities were perfect for self-catering. The owners were so friendly and helpful and we really couldn't fault anything. We even had glorious weather which enabled us to sit out and enjoy the garden which being fully enclosed was an absolute boon for our little dog. Thank you so much for providing us with the most perfect cottage in a wonderful location.

This is an excellent holiday cottage.. The conversion has been completed to a very high standard and is nice and warm. The property is very comfortable - even the sofa which is not often the case. It is a compact space but not claustrophobic and contains everything that you need. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. We would like to return again and would highly recommend it.

Lovely, comfortable stay.. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a few days away. The countryside was beautiful not used to seeing so much scenery as from the city. We visited Alton towers which was only a 10 minute drive away from the cottage, very convenient location. The owners were very friendly and welcoming, came to see how our stay was which I thought was nice. Overall, very good experience, hopefully be back again soon :)

We were very fortunate to have the weather on our side for the bank holiday weekend but had it been raining, it would still have been wonderful.. The setting was beautiful and the cottage was perfect. It has a really rustic feel yet very modern at the same time. The location is calm and 'secluded' but a short drive to everywhere. We did a number of walks and in Sunday went to the Ramblers retreat for brunch (10mins away) and it was idillic. The owner was lovely and even provided tables and chair for us to eat outside in the evening sun. It was just wonderful. Highly recommended.

The cottage was beautifully renovated with up to date facilities, fast wifi, gorgeous decor and furnishings (you had thought about everything - right down to the Christmas decorations! ). Myself and my partner stayed over new year with our dog and it was just wonderful as a relaxing retreat, will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely time and brilliant recommendations for things to do too!

Met expectations but the option for a welcome basket would have been a nice addition.. Trying to find shops on a Sunday in a rural area for bread and milk was difficult

Lovely little cottage. Perfect for a quiet getaway. Underfloor heating was a real treat for cold toes after a long windy walk and bed was exceptionally comfortable. Great location for getting to local walks and cycle trails as well as Bakewell and Matlock.

The owners were very friendly and welcoming. The rural location was central to local attractions and facilities within an 8 mile radius. The property was very dog friendly, as was the whole area.

A charming cottage, only recently converted. It is in a quiet rural setting that is ideal for touring the Peak District National Park. There are some lovely walks in the local area. The owners live close by and made us feel very welcome. The cottage is as described, well appointed and kitted out to a high standard. Worth every penny!
