Just returned from a week at this nice comfortable cottage. Lovely, beautiful quiet setting, surrounded by countryside but only a 5 min walk to The Country Harvest Farm shop and cafe (along a fairly busy road with no pavement) Ingleton is a 20 minute walk from the cottage too, either on main road (pavement all the way from Country Harvest), or you can walk along the road opposite bypassing Thornton-in-Lonsdale, taking in the lovely views. The cottage is ideally situated to visit many local attractions for walks, hikes and sightseeing trips. You can also flag down any of the local buses at The Country Harvest  too, which was an added bonus for us. Large spacious upside down cottage for 2, to take in the views all around. The cottage was spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable, well styled, and had everything you could want, from basic kitchen equipment (no coffee maker or washing machine)to books, games, DVD's and brochures from local attractions.A welcome basket was a lovely added touch. Wifi was excellent throughout our stay too. A few niggles though, the bathroom light was on a short time sensor, so you sometimes got plunged into darkness. The white goods in kitchen could do with being upgraded, as could the crockery. The outside lights on balcony never worked, and on one night tripped the electrics which we couldn't reset ourselves as the fuse box isn't in the cottage. Unfortunately they weren't fixed during our stay, but Christine the owner has advised they are now. No thermostat in the cottage to control the heating, you need to adjust each radiator individually. Saying that these didn't detract from the enjoyment of our stay. All in all a great place to stay, add to that really nice October weather, except for one day, the perfect week was enjoyed. We would definitely recommend and return here, if we are ever back in this area.

We have just come back from Hazelwood Cottage and we cannot wait to go back! The cottage is superb with amazing views of Ingleborough from the balcony. We sat most evenings on the balcony watching the birds, and watching mummy hare and her babies enjoying the fields. The cottage has got everything that you could want for an amazing holiday in the Yorkshire Dales! It’s is pristine and you have everything you need to have an amazing stay! We were also left a lovely hamper from the owners, which was lovely and just what we needed after a long drive. You are literally one mile from Ingleton, we walked in most nights. You are on the doorstep of lots of amazing walks including the Ingleton Waterfall Walk.. cannot praise this cottage enough.. thanks for having us! Seen you soon Paul & Kay Hobman

We were amazed to find that the cottage was in such a wonderful location- right beneath the Ingleton Mountain.. We stayed home most evenings because the all-round views were too good to miss. As an artist I was able to take home some sketches without having to search for a subject. A glass of wine on the balcony and a wonderful sunset were the perfect ending to enjoyable visits to local scenic attractions: The Waterfall walk - 7 miles- very enjoyable, Walk through tree-lined paths, up and over the lime-stone steps parallel to the river. We didn't make the whole way, being over eighty, but still enjoyable. The river at makes for an ideal contrast- a relaxing day with easy walking along the river banks or sitting on the benches provided. It makes an ideal picnic space with the added bonus of an ice cream van and much entertainment watching the school children diving and thrashing about in the water. The town itself is small and has interesting shops and choices of cafe/bars/restaurants. Ingleton itself has a wonderful food and gift shop with award winning butchers, sandwiches, freshly-made ready foods, pies, cakes and fruit. I really didn't feel the need to cook- in spite of the excellent cooking facilities at the cottage.

This is a great cottage and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.. The cottage was in a superb location, extremely clean and had everything we needed for a great holiday. The milk, eggs and biscuits provided on our our arrival were a very nice touch. As an added bonus, the views from the sitting room window and balcony are spectacular. Would book this cottage without hesitation if we ever holiday in this area again.

This little cottage was very well equipped with the exception of a washing machine but it was not needed this trip as the weather was dry.. Really large bedroom with plenty of draw and hanging space. Kitchen very well equipped and I was able to find all the dishes and utensils I required. The location is excellent as there is lots to do in the area. There is also a deli type shop within walking distance with a small cafe so vegetable and meat etc can be purchased here or alternatively Booths supermarket in Kirby Longsdale has an excellent choice. Restaurant information was provided by the owner and we tried Avanti out and had a good meal. If all Sykes Cottages are of a similar standard, as reflected in the price I presume then we will hopefully use you again.

This is a beautiful cottage in an excellent location.. My only little quibble is the bathroom which in my opinion lets the cottage down. The bath is too small for hot soaks after long walks and the shower is poor and would only run very hot or cold! The first problem probably can't be rectified in the space available but the second could.
