Hawksclough Cottage Self-Catering

Holiday home
This lovely, end-terrace holiday cottage is situated on the main road running through Mytholmroyd, on the edge of Hebden Bridge. The property opens directly into an open plan living area with a kitchen, a dining table for two, and a sitting area with a two-seater sofa and window seat. There is also a TV with Freeview and a woodburner. Upstairs are two bedrooms; one has a single bed and one has a double bed and wardrobe. There is also a first floor bathroom. Outside is an undesignated off road parking space and a shared courtyard with furniture. A wonderful holiday choice for exploring West Yorkshire.

Hebden Bridge is a town in the Yorkshire Dales, home to the Rochdale Canal and a Victorian railway station. The town also boasts many interesting little shops and pubs and a cinema which serves tea and scones in the interval. There are great walks on offer in the surrounding countryside with the Pennine Way nearby. Also, visit Haworth nearby, home of the Bronte family.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

Gas central heating with woodburning stove. Electric oven, ceramic hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, TV with Freeview, DVD, WiFi. Washing machine. Fuel, power and starter pack for stove inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Note: Off road parking for 1 car on a first come first serve basis. One well-behaved dog welcome. Note: Uneven stairs in the property. Sorry, no smoking. Self-Catering Reviews

The cottage is ideal and all details as listed.. We will certainly be returning again. We left some items as we had to leave early due to a family emergency and the owner was great and allowed us to return to collect our things the next day. Great for walks, local pubs and such easy access, either walk or train into Hebden Bridge. There was everything we could think of in the cottage and lots of lovely touches and a welcome pack with some luxury items. We have no hesitation of recommending this to any one. There are negative comments about the parking on some reviews, we had no issues what so ever and plenty of space. Don't hesitate, book this cottage you won't be disappointed.

We arrived to find the cottage had not been cleaned or beds changed after the last guests. The outside space is derelict and unsafe. We could not even let the dog out of the car. After waiting for ages to speak to Sykes we asked for a refund. The call handler was really unhelpful and said she would call the owner and then call us back. We waited and waited and then made the decision to drive home. There was a traffic jam outside as it was rush hour when Sykes called back at 4.20. We were told that we should find somewhere to wait whilst a team of cleaners came to the cottage and that it would be ready by 5.30. Sykes said they would pay for a meal. I explained that the traffic jam meant it would be impossible to get to and clean the cottage by this time and that I had booked it for my partner as a treat and to rest during cancer recovery. I explained that the outside area was so unsafe with the derelict building, rusty saw, chemicals etc. I asked again for a refund and it was refused. There was also no access to the canal except possibly by clambering over the derelict wall. Please see pictures. I seriously suggest you do not book this cottage.

Well-equipped, clean and smart cottage with a modern bathroom with a view of the canal and hillside. The welcome pack was very generous and much appreciated. The WiFi worked well, never dropping the connection and the TV had plenty of channels to choose from. It's a pity that the lounge and main bedroom face the road; we were somewhat aware of traffic noise, especially cars and motorbikes speeding at night. Parking and manoeuvring space is rather restricted due to other residents' cars but, as we never used ours, it wasn't an issue. The location by the canal was pleasant and we did long walks along the quiet tow path in both directions a few times. We had lovely lunches at The Stubbing Wharf in Hebden Bridge and At The Weavers, an Italian restaurant in Luddendenfoot, which is an easy walk along the tow path. St Michael's Church in the town centre was beautifully decorated and we were made very welcome. The station is a 10 minute walk away and off-peak fares to Halifax and Leeds were very reasonable.

Fantastic little cottage, ideally situated for getting out and about. The owners have made it so welcoming and homely. The eggs, bread butter, milk and other bits and pieces were a nice surprise. I would definitely recommend this little gem.
