Hafan Haydn Dyserth, Denbighshire

This is a really lovely cosy cottage, and didn't disappoint from the description. The countryside around was superb, very quiet, and terrific setting on a farm. The sheep, chickens and horses came to you as you walked through the field, with the owners allowing us to collect our own free range eggs from the run, really nice touch. We would not hesitate to stay again, and would love to take our grandchildren. Owners Mr &Mrs Williams, very friendly and approachable, and the groceries and wine left by them, very appreciated. Beautiful cottage in a perfect location.. Remote and calm but only 10 min drive from shops, cozy pubs with food and garden/ gift centre with the best cakes ever! The cottage was the cleanest most well stocked place we have ever stayed in anywhere. Anything you may forget is there so don’t worry. Having sheep as your neighbours is a wonderful experience and our human ones who owned the property where lovely , non intrusive but you still felt really looked after. A true delight.

Cottage was spotless and very comfy, owners were very friendly and helpful leaving us milk and cakes on arrival.. Beautiful weather and all going well,Untill Monday night when a terrific thunderstorm struck the main house and all our electrics went out. The owners had the power restored next day and bought us a new TV When we went to go out in our car that had been hit too and all electrics gone. We came home with Green Flag recovery next day. Sad end to a lovely holiday! Still waiting for our car back! Mr & Mrs R McNab

I booked this holiday as a surprise for my then Pregnant other half, it started by secretly flying her Mum over from South Africa then the mystery location for a week away.. the cottage was amazing, quite and very comfy for the three of us, we all loved it. the views were great and the facilities perfect for what we needed I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a week of piece and quite even on the few rainy days it was a great place to be the cottage was perfect and a great place to rest and see the surrounding area, I wouldn't hesitate to return here with the little one once he's a little older

We return every year to this gorgeous cottage - simply her nicest place we’ve stayed a complete away from it all experience but a home from home.. The owners can’t do enough to make sure the cottage is perfect. Easy access to amenities and some fabulous walks too. Beautiful!

This lovely cottage is a credit to Rhian and Yan It has everything you need and more The beautiful location with views that are amazing all the homely touches makes this a very special place.. A great base to explore lovely North Wales. Our grandaughters loved collecting the eggs from the chicken everyday and playing with the 2 friendly sheep.We will defenently be going back again.

We had an amazing holiday in this perfect cottage.. I have never stayed in a cottage with so many home comforts and little extras, just simple things like spare wipes and cot sheet for our little one just shows care for their guests. Would love to stay here again xx

The cottage was extremely clean and all the facilities were spot on.. Host's were delightful and lemon drizzle cake left for us was divine.

Our holiday at this cottage was beyond what we wished for.. Our hosts were so lovely, kind & couldn't do enough for us. They went beyond the call of duty with their very welcoming touches. We felt very home from home. The cottage was immaculate, spotlessy clean and the views of the Welsh countryside were beautiful. We particularly loved watching the resident sheep and chickens with their amusing characters. We would return tomorrow.

The owners make you feel so welcome and add extra touches to give the already beautiful cottage the wow factor upon arrival.. The cottage has all the amenities you could need which are very well maintained and the cottage has a spectacular view of the countryside. This is a place ideal for a great getaway as apart from the owners next door in their house, your only neighbours are the sheep and chickens. The chickens love the attention and some sheep like cuddles and a good scratch behind the ear. Getting out and about is easy access for eating, drinking, shops, the beach and plenty more activities such as pottery painting with afternoon tea, aquarium, zip wiring, caves, pony trekking amongst others and the local pub, 'The Blue Lion' is also really friendly and have the best steak and ale pie in town. We would definately recommend this cottage as a great base for a superb holiday destination.

It was my parents second visit here and it was my first, and what a great first visit! Will definitely be returning again! They thought of everything we might need and it was so comfortable and relaxing. The cottage was beautifully decorated to such a high standard, with a great bathroom, fully kitted kitchen and comfy beds in the bedrooms! Such a lovely place with such a lovely couple who own it. The location is absolutely brilliant with such amazing and lovely views. The sheep and chickens are super friendly too! Thank you so much for everything, I wish a week was longer!

Hafan Haydn is a lovely cottage a real home from home.. The location is ideal for walking the local countryside or trips to the beaches and other attractions of North Wales.

Our third stay at this lovely cottage made even more magical by staying for Christmas this year.. The cottage is beautifully furnished, clean and comfortable and the owners are so helpful and always add personal touches. The owners even accommodated hiding the children’s presents in their garage for us and taking the empty boxes to the tip! Can’t wait to return in the summer.

Our second time visiting this beautiful cottage and we love it even more than the first. The cottage is in a beautiful peaceful setting with lovely views from every window yet only 5 minutes drive to local amenities and a great base to explore North Wales. The cottage is so cosy and homely and furnished to a very high standard with everything you could need for a self catering holiday. The owners are so friendly and helpful and leave lovely homemade cakes and produce for you. My children loved looking out at the chickens and sheep and we were all sad to leave. By far the best holiday cottage we have stayed in and by far the most comfy beds! We can't wait to return.

This is a relaxing cottage in a lovely location. We had a toddler and baby with us and they had stair gates, high chair and travel cot ready for us, at no extra cost! The owners are lovely, the little things they thought of made the stay more than perfect. The cottage was extremely clean and the beds were very comfy! I can't say enough good things about the cottage - we will be going again!

Hafan Haydn is in a fantastic location. We spent many happy hours admiring the views from the cottage. Just what we needed for a family with a young baby. It was very well equipped and we will definitely be returning!

This property is absolutely immaculate, and designed by the owners themselves to an incredibly high standard. The owners are next door, and you pass their home as you drive/walk to the property, but they are discreet and quiet. The land that the property is on is excellent, with a wraparound private garden with patio, shed and rotary line, which leads out onto the owners small holding, which has sheep and chickens. The area is so peaceful, apart from the odd bleat of the sheep, but is only a short drive to the beaches at Prestatyn, and makes a fantastic holiday destination. Perfect for families and couples alike.

We absolutely loved seeing the chickens sheep in the field, and collecting our own eggs! The cottage itself was probably faultless! We really enjoyed the fire.

We and our baby absolutely loved our holiday here. The hosts were lovely and really helpful. Collecting eggs from the chickens was a treat, and our son loved watching them and the sheep. The cottage was wonderful, the views were just astounding. The woodburner was good fun, and we found it easy to get to local things like a supermarket, curry takeaway, and even the local hospital! Great location for walks.

Perfect hideaway from the world, beautiful location, friendly chickens and sheep just over the fence. You can sit warm and snug in front of the wood burner and still see the wildlife outside. Perfect dark skies for star gazing. Hosts have thought of everything, flowers, wine and fire lighters, its a real treat to stay here.

A friend and I visited this wonderful cottage for a three day escape. It was a wonderful stay. The location was beautiful, surrounded by fields yet not too far from the local village for anything you wanted or many other local places of interest. The owners had thought of everything you could possibly need and made sure you had it - from toothpaste to a supply of milk, eggs, wine and cake upon arrival. It felt as if they were looking after you while also giving you the space to enjoy yourself. The cottage itself was beautiful - with a wonderful fire (which we really appreciated as the weather was terrible!) I honestly don't think I could recommend this place enough and would love to come back!

Had a warm welcome from friendly and helpful hosts. It was a delightful comfortable cottage, with many thoughtful extras provided by the hosts. The location was close enough to good transport links, yet was quiet and peaceful, and conveniently located for access to the many attractions of north Wales - such as world class gardens, the Vale of Clwyd etc.

Hafan Haydn was a beautifully reconstructed barn which was delightful inside and contained everything we needed. The property was right out in the country; surrounded by sheep, cows and scenery yet located close to shops. Perfect in every way.

The cottage is tucked away in an idyllic location. On arrival we had milk, eggs, a bottle of wine and some shortbread and even a childrens magazine for our 4 year old daughter. The accomodation was fantastic and had the high chair and cot for our little one all set up. Our daughters loved watching the lambs and sheep in the field opposite and the location is good for getting round North Wales.

The cottage was fantastic, a perfect home from home - it was so cosy especially when the log fire was lit. The owners are wonderful, so helpful and accommodating. Will definitely be returning.

My partner and I went with my 1 year old baby in the summer for my birthday. We loved it. The hens tapping in the door and the sheep roaming about was great. The hosts put up a baby gate and travel cot for our child. There was a birthday cake and bottle of wine waiting for me on arrival. The place was spotless and tastefully decorated and the bathroom is beautiful. The views are stunning and it's so peaceful! We are hoping to go back very soon. Loved it.

We spent our Christmas here and we could not fault the cottage at all. Ideally situated with great views but not too far away from the local town and other main towns. The owners are very welcoming and go that extra mile to make you feel welcome. The cottage is great with a modern touch and very good feel to it. The best Christmas we have had as a family.

I spent ages choosing our welsh cottage and was thrilled that Hafan Haydn was just as perfect as I had hoped when booking it nearly a year in advance. It was lovely, loads of charm, peace and quiet, and every morning I was woken up by the owls .... perfect.

An excellent property, with a very good standard of finish. The location and the panoramic views were an added bonus.

The owners were very welcoming. Liked the tranquillity of the setting and its central location for touring North Wales. We will certainly be revisiting Hafan Haydn. We cannot think of one negative feature of our holiday.

A stunning location, lovely cottage and the owners were so welcoming.

My wife and I, along with our 5 month old, stayed at the cottage for 1 week. It has been lovingly restored by the owners who are extremely friendly and made perfect hosts. Lots of thought has been put into this, with great attention to detail. On arrival, goodies were provided, so after a long drive we could make cups of tea with cake, taste their own free range eggs from the chickens and sipped our complimentary bottle of wine. Small things like soaps included, sugar at the ready, dishwasher tablets stocked etc meant that we didn't have to go to the shops for anything other than our own main meal ingredients. That is a really welcome thing when you arrive after a long drive, and those small things take effort to continuously stock up and provide that added value to guests. That effort, is a reflection on the owners, who have provided a peaceful and private space to relax in. A previous review mentions a short walk to get to the cottage from the parking. This did not put us off, and indeed on arrival we discovered that the 'short walk', is just 20 meters from where the car is parked on the drive to where the door to the cottage is. It was not a reason not to visit, and we had no trouble with our 6 month old, even when there was thunder and lightning! The bedrooms are in a converted roof space. Space is tight, I am 6'1", but frankly, I loved the atmosphere created by being snuggly tucked up in a cosy space. The owners made space for us to put a cot (provided) in the second bedroom, and we had no issues in enjoying the cosiness of the bedroom spaces. It is standing height in the middle of the room, and is only intrusive in trying to walk down the side of the bed - not an issue for us, and adds character and enjoyment to a week away. All in all, I would fully recommend this cottage to all couples, couples & baby and couples with school age children etc - You may think twice with crawlers/toddlers due to the open plan spacious living downstairs, but it wouldn't stop us. The downstairs is perfectly appointed, and we greatly enjoyed eating breakfast on the completely private patio in the morning sun overlooking the roaming sheep on the expansive views. The cottage is decorated to a very high standard with stunning views and great amenities within the cottage. We went with two young children and felt that it wasn't quite appropriate for young children as there were no doors separating the lounge from the dining room and no doors from the dining room to the kitchen so we had to put one of the stair gates there but otherwise this is a great place to stay if you have older children. Also the car parking is a little way from the cottage and this was tricky for us with small children. Great communication from the owners and lots of eggs and a welcome pack there for us which we really enjoyed.

The cottage and location were idyllic. It was so easy to relax there and do nothing if that's what we felt like, and at the same time there was loads of information on activities and places to visit in the local area if we wanted that too. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a quite base from which to explore North Wales!
