Mrs Griffiths, July 2020
Absolutely fabulous location.. We were there with a family of 11 and 3 dogs and there was more than enough space for everyone. The outside garden is massive to enjoy bbqs etc and a seperate bbq area with fantastic views over conniston etc. We will definitely be going back there in the near future. Also the red lion pub which is only 3 miles away were very accommodating with excellent food and drink (with 50% off at the minute). Overall definitely worth a visit.
Mr Holliday, September 2020
Fantastic house, plenty of space and incredible views (fuschia will need trimming soon as restricting kitchen view in one direction! ). Kitchen well stocked although some bigger mugs would be very appreciated. Aga seemed to only do roast or off, but was lovely to roast with! Plenty of fridge and freezer space.
Beds on the top floor are very much on the firm side and the doubles on the first floor are soft - so choose your bedroom accordingly!! Bathrooms are lovely, clean and with decent showers. Sky sports was a bonus!
Looking forward to a return visit with the extended family who had to miss this trip due to lockdown.
Mr Cockburn, July 2020
What a fabulous place to stay , it was beyond our expectations .. We had an amazing long weekend , the house was amazing and had everything we needed . We didn’t want to come home ! I’d love to live in this house it was fantastic . Thankyou
Mrs Thorne, February 2020
Absolutely wonderful property for a large family group.. There is so much space and so plenty of room for everyone to spread out and not be on top of each other. The views are incredible and we had a brilliant week celebrating the grandparents' 40th anniversary. Also, praise for the owner - we had a slight problem with one of the showers and it was all sorted the day I rang which also happened to be the Saturday of a Bank Holiday weekend. I wish I could afford to rent the property more often, but it is great value for money.
What a property, beautiful, clean, spacious, well equipped, relaxing, great for adults, children and dogs, perfectly located for visiting different areas, we thoroughly enjoyed our family holiday, visiting from Coldstream and Devon, would definitely stay here again xxx
Mrs Churchill, May 2019
Our 2nd visit - the first for a family party for my 70th birthday & our recent visit to celebrate the golden wedding of my husband & myself.. We all had a wonderful time & cannot fault the farm. We fully intend to return.
Miss Das, May 2019
Great holiday home very spacious everything you would need was there
This is an amazing property with fantastic views
Loads of space and well equipped.. Great views and outside space. Classy but comfortable.
We had a wonderful holiday at Groffa Crag.. The house was warm and comfortable with loads of space for everybody and we had everything we needed for our family group.
What a fabulous place! We celebrated a 60th birthday party over the weekend. Six bedrooms, several sitting rooms and a great dining room to seat all 12 family members (brothers , wives , children and grandchildren) Two kitchens, but we all spent time cooking and chatting in the large kitchen where the views far exceeded our expectations. Fabulous views over to the fells and Morecambe Bay. A warm, welcoming ,very well equipped farm house
We had a wonderful weekend and would definitely go again. Thank you for making the birthday weekend a special place to be with special memories.
A great get away for a large group with plenty of space to spread out in.. Very 'homely' with stunning views.
This is a fabulous property which more than exceeded expectations.. We were a party of 9 and found there was plenty of space for everyone whether hanging out in the kitchen looking at the view or crashed in front of the tv with a fire roaring in the wood burner.
A great size house for a large group.. We were celebrating a joint 30th / 60th birthday and our party consisted of 7 adults, 2 children and 3 dogs. There was plenty of room for us to spread out or be together. The views from the kitchen are amazing! The added bonus was the table tennis in the basement. This kept children and adults active and entertained. The large garden and forest area provided plenty of solace for the dogs and children to run. The house was very well equipped and we had a wonderful weekend there.
We have had a fantastic time! What a beautiful place to stay, far reaching views, extremely spacious, warm & comfortable. A perfect place for a family gathering!
Wonderful house, with excellent kitchen and bathroom facilities.. I’d highly recommend this property!
We had an absolutely wonderful stay! The house is beautiful the photos really don’t do it justice!! We had 11 adults and children with us and we were all very comfortable and didn’t get on top of each other!
We would highly recommend this house and would love to come back for Christmas.
The setting is stunning and the views are spectacular.
Thanks so much we had s very special weekend
It’s only when you wake each morning that you can appreciate the views around the farmhouse.. The owner provides not only bed linen and towels but toiletries and cleaning essentials as well. The inside space is fantastic much larger than we expected. One part is a fully contained one bedroomed house that can be locked to provide complete privacy if required.
We very nearly lost our holiday booking for 9 people as Sykes couldn’t take a payment & didn’t think it necessary to call me! All the email notifications went into my junk folder. This was our main family holiday & we cane very close to losing it. Not good enough not to call me in this situation as it could of been rectified immediately. Sykes put in the wrong expiry date on my c card so it wasn’t even my error! Very stressful
Kendal Climbing Centre was awesome for 5 to 14 year olds.. Wonderful views from the farmhouse.
Fabulous house, lots of space for everyone, comfortable beds large bedrooms, ample bathrooms, lovely kitchen with fantastic views.. Hope to stay here again soon!
Groffa Crag was perfect for our needs.. It is huge! So many rooms and all so large. We came here with all my family (8 adults, 4 children and 1 dog) for my 40th birthday. The amount of space made it very comfortable for us all to stay together. It was a very cold weekend when we visited, so we enjoyed staying in more than we normally would when visiting the Lakes. The position of the kitchen is perfect and the views are breathtaking. We hope to visit again soon. Thank you!
The photos advertising the house do not do the views justice! Wonderful house - lots of memories made.
Went for daughters 30th birthday, party of 11, 9 adults and 2 children and 3dogs.. Plenty of space for large party. 3 sittingrooms all with wood burning stoves which was excellent as weather was lovely but very cold. Facilities were excellent for all of us and kitchen was very well equipped. Excellent base for all planned family activities and beautiful scenery and panoramic views from kitchen and outdoor seating area. Large garden with small wooded area to the rear which was excellent for the dogs. Going in February there were fields with no livestock so we were able to take dogs in the field across from farmhouse.Would highly recommend a visit to Grizedale forest can take dogs and has a tarmac wheelchair friendly route.Would highly recommend this farmhouse for brilliant short break, a home from home, cosy and relaxing. If I had to be critical at all 1 double and 2twin bedrooms need updating but were very comfortable. Thank you for a lovely time would love to come again for longer!!
This was a lovely big house with plenty of room for a family.. It shows signs of wear but generally tidy and comfortable with good facilities. Good views of surrounding area and easy access to roads in all directions.
In all honesty the description and the photos on the website did not do the property justice and the holiday was far better than we imagined.. Rooms great, clean and with plenty of seating. Kitchen superb. Bedrooms all spacious clean and comfortable
This is a fabulous property.. Excellent for what we had booked it for an early Christmas celebration with friends. The main, larger kitchen was amazing with simply fantastic views of Coniston and the surrounding area and very well stocked with all we needed. 2 large fridges which was great as 8 of us! Property is quite remote so no nipping out for anything forgotten. Lovely and peaceful. Parking good, plenty of room. My only suggestions would be to have a spare supply of toilet roll and to have curtains on the windows in the Boot Room bedroom. Only had blinds which were of a light colour too so didn’t sleep too well. Towels adequate but could have been larger. Had to wash oven trays before use as had all been put away dirty and greasy. Couldn’t get TV in dinning area to work but didn’t really need it anyway. Otherwise, all good and we loved our stay. Didn’t find the welcome folder till we were leaving so maybe this needs to be left out and took a while to find the underground games room. Also a dog poster with instructions about dogs and farmers needs to be bigger and in a more prominent place Would definitely stay again. Thank you.
Wonderful place for a family get together, large rooms, well-equipped, views from kitchen amazing and stargazing from the top bedroom, and fun playing table tennis in the basement.. Enjoyed exploring round Coniston and walking on Duddon Sands.
10 Adults and 2 dogs stayed for a week. The accommodation was fantastic. The space allowed us all to eat and get together. Equally the layout catered for those who wanted some quiet time. The number of bathrooms meant no queues for the shower in the mornings. The kitchen was well equipped ( we cooked every night). All appliances including 2 dishwashers worked.
The views were stunning, particularly the view over Coniston water
Disappointed in the washing machine and dishwasher, both need replacing.. But otherwise everything was fabulous.
Wonderful house and location, so much space, very laid back holiday.. Close to coast and lakes so loads to do! Dog was welcome, all round fantastic holiday.
The house was booked for a large group of walkers.
The living areas are enormous and comfortable. In fact we hardly went in the end living room - I would imagine this would be nice and cool in very hot weather. Wi Fi worked well and there are several TVs and a really good selection of DVDs and books
Several bedrooms are en suite. Bathrooms looked modern and inviting (although we did have a problem with the 1st floor shower). The big top bedroom is amazing (although this one is not en suite).
There are two kitchens. But most people will want to spend their time in the large well equipped kitchen with almost "otherworldly" panoramic views to the high fells all the way round to Morecambe Bay.
Ulverston is just a few miles down the road. We parked 6 cars without too many problems.
We would definitely come back here.
Miss Goddard, June 2017
Plenty of room for our family weekend away to celebrate a 50th birthday.. ...loved the table tennis...Rayburn...views.....easy walks from house....easy food delivery from Asda....not far from Ulverston Station. We were sorry that the Laurel and Hardy Museum was closed, but would recommend a visit to Tarn Hows and Tom Gill waterfall, and the Cathedral Cave at Tilbertwaite Quarries and the old packhorse bridge, Slaters Bridge.
Mr Sainsbury, October 2016
This cottage is in a wonderful setting giving breath taking views towards Coniston Water and the coast.. It is very spacious and suited our party of 12 adults and 3 dogs really well. There is a huge amount of parking space- great as we had 6 cars between us. The rooms, both sitting rooms and bedrooms are of a really good size. There are plenty of bathroom facilities for a large party. There is a great boot room for leaving outdoor equipment. The property was well heated and warm throughout. There was a constant supply of hot water. We appreciated the large dining table as we could sit and eat an evening meal as a group of 12. It was nice to have three separate sitting areas so we could split in to smaller groups when we chose to do so. The twelve of us have been spending a week away together for a number of years, in different locations, and we have experienced a wide range of accommodation of very varying standards. Grofa Crag has been one of the best cottages we have used. We had a great holiday!
Mrs Best, November 2016
It was fabulous.. ..
Our only critisism was that we couldn't find a guide of how to walk to the pub ;0)
Mr Millington, October 2016
The farmhouse was amazing, it appeared a lot larger than the pictures on the website.. It a great place to stay as one big group, where everyone can eat/socialise together, but also it can easily be divided into smaller groups, with various living/lounge areas, two kitchens, etc. The views are amazing and although there are a few properties in the locality because of the position of the farmhouse it feels like it is totally isolated.
Cunningham, September 2016
A fantastic location for large groups of all ages, with amenities 10 mins away and easy access to the Southern Lakes.. The amazing House was equipped with more than enough facilities and the stunning panoramic views changed every day with the weather.
We loved it.
Great views, an excellent location and a beautiful house. There were plenty of things to do!
This was one of the best holiday accommodations we have stayed in, well equipped, spotlessly clean, lovely and warm throughout and situated with the most beautiful Lakeland fell view from the kitchen window.
It suited our extended family group having a number of sitting areas, 3 TVs and plenty of space, the children enjoyed the table tennis room in the basement.
It would have been helpful if the garden area was secure for the dogs - they needed supervising whilst outside but this was a minor problem.
I would not hesitate to recommend this property.
Mr Walker, August 2016
Great views, an excellent location and a beautiful house.. There were plenty of things to do!
The house and garden were amazing. We loved everything about it. We didn't want to leave.
Liked the tremendous view from the kitchen! The house was always warm and there was plenty of hot water. An excellent base for a large family gathering.
Goffa Crag Farmhouse is a beautiful property in a wonderful location.
