We stayed here in the winter and it was just wonderful. The house is well kitted out and great for a large gathering. Also great for kids, or just adult company. It is just the thing for a bit of luxury after a stormy walk in the moors. Lots if great pubs with great food in the vicinity too.

We have just returned from 3 nights at Great Bidlake Manor celebrating New Years. The house was full of character, extremely comfortable and cosy, and equipped with everything we might need and more. The kids had a great time in the TV and games rooms, and the living areas were perfect for generally hanging out. Location just on the edge of Dartmoor was stunning with easy access to walks - thwarted just by British weather! All in all perfect for a larger group wanting somewhere a bit special to hang out and celebrate.

The house is beautiful; very cosy with open fires and lovely comfortable rooms. Large bedrooms with excellent bathrooms, as well as lots of space downstairs for meals, gathering and relaxing. Very well equipped kitchen that makes it easy to cook for big groups. The grounds are gorgeous and everything is maintained with great care and attention. Beautiful countryside around - we did a Dartmoor walk - and just a great spot all round.

Everything was absolutely wonderful - great bedrooms, fantastic en-suites, well-equipped kitchen, great sounding piano... Rabbits. Sheep. We've never used Sonos before - very nice. Comes with its own wood & walking distance to the pub. I can't think of anything that wasn't lovely.

Bidlake Manor is a lovely place to stay.. This was our second family holiday there and accommodated the 10 of us superbly. A family Birthday made even more memorable. Our two dogs could not fault Bidlake either, acres to roam.

The people who met us at the property were very helpful.. There were no problems. We thought it was excellent value for money, given the vast size of the property. We didn't really have time to take advantage of all the facilities on offer.

Eight of us stayed for a week. It took a few hours to navigate the huge house. The rooms are all stunning, all en-suite and each has its own attraction. A great place to dine in once you get used to the cooker. Lots of little snugs for a quiet read. Everything worked. Well placed for all sorts of days out all within an hour. Well worth a repeat visit.

I booked Great Bidlake Manor to celebrate a significant birthday. My wife and I were joined by five other couples and the house proved to be a superb venue for relaxing and celebrations. The facilities are second to none - my wife did the catering in the well appointed kitchen and all twelve of us were able to sit comfortably at the beautiful period dining table in the large dining hall. All six bedrooms are wonderfully decorated and furnished with extra king sized beds and on-suite bathrooms. Plenty of fiction and non fiction books in the library together with local maps and guides. There are open fires in the lounge and dining hall which we lit and the underfloor heating keeps the whole house nice and warm. The boys enjoyed the games room with the pool table, dartboard and games console. Outside the extensive grounds are great for a pre-diner stroll and in the summer the large patio area would be great for drinks and eating al-fresco. Okehampton, Tavistock and Launceston are only a few miles away and worth a visit and Exeter is about half an hour away straight down the A30. In conclusion I would thoroughly recommend Great Bidlake Manor to anyone seeking a luxurious break on the edge of Dartmoor

If you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and spend some quality time with friends or family, here is a great place to go! This is a lovely large country house that quickly feels like home, whilst at the same time making you feel like you’re staying in a luxury hotel. I’m guessing this has been achieved by the owner being a Bidlake, and the house having 750 years of his family history. My partner and I joined 5 other couples to celebrate a ‘big birthday’. The large double bedrooms all have an en suite bathroom - with a fabulous high pressure hot shower helping to wash away the cobwebs from previous nights’ celebrations. Our bed was extremely comfortable, and being in the countryside the only noise came from cows lowing and birds singing. There are lots of rooms to enable your group to either do their own thing or get together - including two well equipped lovely country kitchens, two dining rooms, a games room, a music room, and a great lounge with a lovely open fire (with plenty of logs to keep it going). There are also landings with sofas and chairs and a chess board table. Outside, there are grounds to wander around, with what were once stables, barns, and a stream. Signs of days gone by include a Mounting Post, that would have been used originally to help the ladies get on their horses. The Magnolias were starting to bloom around the doors, adding some glorious colour. Given its size and location we were able to enjoy a fabulous dinner party, that the birthday boy’s lovely wife put together, followed by plenty of singing and dancing - there is a Sonos system with speakers in several rooms. You need to bring your own food and drink, and be prepared to all join in on making a success of your weekend, or longer - a week would be great at any time of the year. With 12 of you it makes the cost very reasonable indeed. Everywhere was beautifully clean, helped by having a large cloakroom to hang coats and leave walking boots. There are lovely wooden floors mainly downstairs, with some light carpets, so we all wore socks & slippers around the house. There are plenty of places locally to explore. We went to Tavistock for a Saturday afternoon explore around the indoor market, and the excellent Clovelly Inn at Bratton Clovelly for Sunday lunch (also highly recommended). My only small recommendation would be a more visible sign outside - we managed to drive past when we first arrived: if Little Bidlake Farm is on your right, it’s about 200/300 yards after it, on the same side. If LBF is on your left, you’ve missed it! Highly recommended. A super house (that needs respecting, of course), which is ideal for groups of friends or family. Oh, and there’s a ghost to look out for too .......

This beautiful Manor House was everything we hoped for and more, exceptionally clean luxury accommodation which was very well equipped and the heated flooring and fires made it a lovely cosy retreat for a get-together for the whole family.. The house has generous accommodation with enough room for people to have their own space if needed, but simultaneously providing informal and formal dining areas for the whole family and likewise with the sitting room. The open fires were the icing on the cake. We also loved the separate music room, the TV room on which to view either one's own DVDs or the wide selection provided. There was much else to take advantage of if so inclined, such as the study with a wide range of books, the pool room, darts board, second kitchen with full washing facilities etc. It was an idyllic setting and a really well furnished and thought out large family home that we felt privileged to have been able to experience. In fact, the whole experience made some wonderful family memories and we would love to return in the future.

Great Bidlake Manor is an outstanding property ideally suited to quiet family getaways.. It was immaculately presented and every comfort was provided. The games room was a real bonus but the beauty of the house and grounds was a permanent distraction for us. Thank you so much for a wonderful break away from it all.

The House was amazingly comfortable, with many added comforts.. The bedrooms were large with excellent en suite facilities. Every comfort had been thought of and the kitchen was well stocked with facilities to cook. There were provisions provided for us eg. coffee, tea, tin foil, cling film, dishwasher tablets etc. All in all the best house we have stayed in.

Staying in Great Bidlake Manor feels like a cross between a luxury country hotel and a family home.. Everyone in our party, from the youngest to oldest, thoroughly enjoyed their stay. The addition of tea and coffee in the kitchen, plus all the logs for the amazing fires, were a wonderful extra you don’t normally get in self catering. Everything had been thought of to make your stay the best ever !

I have nothing but praise and thanks for the owners and caretaking staff at Bidlake .. My one area for improvement would be the potholes in the approach drive , however it did not distract from having a good time
