Perfect location to explore the beautiful area.. The cottage met all our expectations and was a perfect home for the three generations to catch up and enjoy time together. Lovely open plan living and well equipped with everything needed for a family break. Would love to return again and would definitely recommend this lovely cottage.

This is a lovely cottage in a fantastic area for walking and cycling, only 10 miles from Snowdonia but without all the crowds.. The owners have made really good provisions against covid-19 and they left us home made tea bread for our arrival which was kind. The village has 2 pubs but only the New Inn was open for our stay. Food was basic but filling if you've been out exercising. The mountains in the area are great for exploring but note that some of the paths on the map are hard to find and/or blocked by fences - definitely take a 1:25k map rather than a 1:50k.

We knew there was no garden and there being no bathroom upstairs but they both might prevent us booking this cottage again! The cake, mints and many thoughtful touches were greatly appreciated as was the fabulous scenery. We had a ver a very soggy week with almost wall to wall rain so we spent a lot of time in the cottage and still enjoyed ourselves.

What a lovely cottage this is! Pictures do not do it justice - the lounge/dining room like a baronial hall with ceiling to the top of the house! Warm and cosy and the log fire just a dream. Took morning coffees every day in the bright and cosy conservatory. Nice welcome pack provided (thank you Mr & Mrs Ashton). Kitchen well equipped (even had a knife sharpener which often isn't provided anywhere) but kettle took forever to boil! Only downside was the shower in the bathroom ran cool before I could rinse off my shampoo. Brrr. All in all, a lovely break and we will be returning :).

As usual, Glendower was a peaceful haven of rest and relaxation.. Surrounded by mountains in the tanat valley you can’t do anything but relax. The cottage is comfortable and warm but full of character and at one with it’s surroundings. This has been our sixth time here and certainly won’t be our last. Mr and Mrs Ashton who own the holiday cottage are a kind and welcoming couple who go a long way to making a stay here more comfortable. Thank you for that. See you again next year. Ed Disbury

The owners of Glendower Cottage made us feel welcome by leaving lamps on, heating on and goodies by the way of milk in the fridge, tea/coffee/sugar available and very tasty home made tea bread and chocolates.. As we had travelled for 5 hours, this was a very nice gesture. A lovely area to explore and the hub of the village is the pub 'The New Inn'. A lovely relaxing break in a lovely area. Would recommend this cottage to anyone.

What a beautiful cottage in a stunning location.. The New Inn will quickly become your goto for a beer or 2 and the food is "OK".. The cottage however is the gem.. We enjoyed the wood burner each evening as we relaxed after a day's hiking.. Bronze age ditch Fort within 40 mins walk and some scenery that will blow your mind. The owners were helpful and surprised when I rang for an axe to cut down some kindling, however we went for a walk and arrived "home" to a very sharp axe.! Loved our time there, the cottage was perfect.. The only slight negative was no shop in the village so stock up on what you need before you arrive as we had to make a 30 min journey after a 3 and a half hour journey to stock up but in the grand scheme of things my girl and I would visit Glendower again in a heart beat. A true gem..

Lovely place, our 2nd stay at a sykes cottage, the only slight issue was no shop in the village and no mention in description so we arrived and then had to drive a further 15 miles to get groceries..

This is the fourth time we’ve been to Glendower and we will be back again next year.. It’s location is excellent for relaxation and central for trips out. It’s like a little step back in time where you can escape the pressures of everyday life and relax and escape for the whole time you’re there. We love the place and appreciate Mr & Mrs Ashton’s hospitality in providing a lovely holiday place. Ed Disbury

Such a great cottage! ! Everything was superbly presented and pristine, lovely high quality towels for every guest. This cottage has a great heating system as we were there at the end of November but the whole cottage was comfortable and warm, a real delight to come back to after a brisk walk in the wonderful surrounding countryside. The hosts were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We will be returning next year. NB The local pub was very welcoming, they had a well priced varied menu for the whole family.

The location is excellent for those who want to avoid the usual tourist traps and enjoy the countryside; there were plenty of walks from the doorstep. Overall the cottage was excellent. It was warm and cosy and situated in a beautiful setting. The scenery in the surrounding area was breathtaking and there was plenty to do and see. We would not hesitate to recommend it to others. Our dog enjoyed his holiday as much as we did. We enjoyed it so much that we have already booked a return visit later this year. We would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family.

This is a fabulous roomy cottage in a great location with fantastic views of the Berwyn Hills. We loved staying here and so did our friends - the dog thought it was cool too. There are two pubs in the village which provide excellent ales and good pub grub. Located just outside Snowdonia National Park, it was in easy driving distance of all local areas of outstanding beauty. Would highly recommend this cottage.

We made Christmas dinner on Boxing Day (we're Americans, what do we know?). We then spent three days without leaving the house because of weather, snow and ice, and we never got bored! The Christmas tree was a wonderful gift and the decorations were lovely. Of course, the box of chocolates won the prize with kids and grown-ups alike! It's a lovely house in a beautiful place. Thanks so much!

March 2014
We stayed for new year, all of the party had a wonderful time. The owner made us very welcome with the house beautifully decorated for christmas and the chocolates were much appreciated. We found the pubs in the village were very good with the ability to have takaway at one if you wanted to stay in very useful. We ordered our food to be delivered from asda which was very good and arrived on time. We love the woodburner which was very atmospheric and reminded me of home. The owner came to check on us and made sure we had no problems which made us feel welcome, but we had no problems to report. The house was well equipped and the layout worked really well for 2 couples with two bathrooms. The dogs loved the wonderful walks even though the weather wasn't brillant they had a great time. The view from the cottage to the village and up the mountain was very scenic and I can't wait to come back in the summer to really appreciate it.

The property was lovely inside, the location was great for the two local pubs which you could see from the lounge window. The owner left a message and chocolates on the table, he also checked on us to make sure we had no problem which was extremely nice. The views were amazing from the upstairs bedroom. We had many walks available from the door. I can't wait to go back again.

The cottage was 'olde worldy', spacious but cosy. It was beautiful, warm and homely and so peaceful. The multi-fuel fire was fabulous. The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed. The local pub served excellent food, and the locals were very friendly and helpful. The surrounding scenery and beyond was stunning and there were plenty of walks and things to do locally. We would definitely go back. We really did not want to leave.
