Cottage was fantastic large and comfortable with all amenities, in a central location for all shops, resteraunts and bars etc would recommend for large families or groups .. Balavoulin hotel and Cairngorm hotel were the best we tried, overall ambience and food and drink was the Balavoulin, best food was the Cairngorm Hotel

House and location were brilliant.. Lovely property. The only thing that proved a bit of a problem was the height of the bottom step at the front and back doors. I had my mother and mother in law with us and they struggled getting up the steps. Maybe putting hand rails either side would really make this easier for older guests. Otherwise everything else was faultless.

A nice property in a stunning location.. The owners were super-friendly & helpful, and the cottage was a warm, well-equipped, and comfortable. It was a home-from-home from which it was easy to explore the area. The downstairs shower room was in need of redecoration and seating in the lounge was somewhat limited for the capacity of the house, but we would still happily visit again & would recommend the property to friends and family. To be honest the house was comfortable & perfectly adequate, but it's what's outside the window that you're really there to enjoy... the Cairngorms is an absolutely awesome location (in the truest sense of the word) & Scotland is incomparable in it's beauty...

The owners got in contact before our stay with key arrival information. 6 of us (my mother, wife and 3 children) stayed here last week. We were met at the house on arrival and given a short tour along with being introduced to the need-to-knows about the house - heating, TV, WiFi etc. Log fire in both the kitchen/diner and the lounge. With 4 comfortable bedrooms (1 ensuite), family bathroom along with downstairs shower room there's enough space for everyone to get ready in the morning for days out exploring the Highlands. Glencanisp is well placed for Aviemore, Cairngorms National Park as well as a 50 minute-is drive to Loch Ness. Both main rooms downstairs have Sky TV and there is excellent WiFi. A wonderful stay in an immaculately clean, tidy and beautiful house. We hope to be back soon!

The house was well heated and with the addition of 2 log burners with a good supply of fuel, all included it felt very cosy and homely.. There was plenty of room inside and parking off road. The location is central yet not too close to the noisier town centre. It made an excellent base for visiting the area.

Glencanisp is a First Class house set in a beautiful part of Scotland.. The house is exceptional with everything you could need for a very comfortable holiday. Aviemore has lots to do within a short distance, most notably The Highland Folk Museum and The Highland Wildlife Park, neither should be missed. Myself and family had a great weeks holiday, though a week is not enough to enjoy all this place has to offer, consequently we all hope to return to Glencanisp in the not too distant future.

Returning to Glencanisp felt like comming home. We had a great time in this perfectly equipped and imacculate house where we could all get out to explore during the day and then relax together at night. We had all 4 generations together again with plenty of space to let the little ones play while the elders relaxed over dinner and board games. Thanks again

Glencanisp was a delight - roomy, comfortable, cosy and with a very comprehensive range of high-quality fixtures and fittings.. Our extended family found a range of contents to suit everyone, with very thoughtful extras ranging from hot water bottles to bath toys for the children. The beds were very comfortable, with high quality bedding, and the two shower rooms plus charming bathroom served the 4 double bedrooms very well. The kitchen was huge and extremely well-equipped. I would highly recommend this accommodation and Sykes Cottages for ease and security of booking, with frequent updates and helpful information.

Glencanisp is a 10 minute level walk to the shops and excellent eateries, and a short drive to a great sledging area and the Cairngorm mountain railway. This was our second stay at this great family house - just like coming home. Warm, cosy but plenty of space for 4 adults and 4 children aged from 17 to 8. The kitchen and dining area is a wonderful space for socialising, with a really good utility room with excellent washing machine and tumble dryer. We also love the American style fridge/freezer which dispenses ice and good tasting chilled water. The beds are really comfortable, everything is clean and well presented, and there is good parking. The communication with the owners, Diane and Ian, is excellent, and they are anxious to make your stay a really good one, which indeed it was. Thank you for another lovely stay - with the added bonus of some lovely snow.....

Stayed here in March with a group of 8 as part of a hillwalking group. The cottage is traditional, and well furnished with plenty of space to eat, cook or relax together. All the bathrooms are modern and the kitchen is well equipped. It also has drying facilities in the utility room. Plenty of restaurants and food nearby if you don't want to cook. We ALL really enjoyed staying here and would definitely come back again. The weather this week was also stunning, which helped!

Stayed at Glencanisp for a week in July. The cottage is great for a large group such as ours ( 3 couples with 2 children aged 6 and 19 months). The cottage (I'd call it a house) has all that you require for a stay and was very clean when we arrived. An 8 minute walk brings you into the town with plenty of shops and restaurants. Would I stay there again? I'm not sure due to the traffic noise in the early mornings. If you can sleep through that then, yes, it's a good place to stay.

An absolutely fantastic property, very spacious and light. We all loved it, including the little ones. Would absolutely recommend the place and be delighted to stay there again. The property made our holiday. We all looked forward to coming back to it and it was a very easy place to relax.

This is a lovely big cottage in a great location and perfect for a group - in our case two families of four. Some comments that may be helpful: - location is about half a mile from Aviemore centre - 10mins walk or so from the Winking Owl pub and mountain cafe, a few minutes more from Tesco. Coop is 5 mins walk out of town on the dalfaber road and there's a small spar 2 mins walk away. - It's on the main toad through town but set back...some modest traffic noise and late night chatter from teenagers in the bus shelter across the road one Saturday, but normally fine. - there's a small garden at front and room to park 2-3 cars. There's also potential space for bikes (or skis or boards) outside in the back yard or for a few clean ones in the utility room inside the house. -great kitchen / diner space with a double oven and hobs, a big dining table that fits 8 easily, modern fridge and freezer (even does ice for drinks). An inconspicuous TV in the corner and a mixed fuel stove. - a darker, cosier room - feels more of a TV room or space for whisky and cards! A better fit for 5 or 6 than 8 - 4 bedrooms, all of medium to modest size, 1 ensuite. All fine and nice comfy beds, generally functional not special. - loads of great places nearby - ski often open into April, mountain biking at Glenmore and Rothiemurchus and blue/red trails at Glenlivet, loads of walks and don't miss cakes in Aviemore mountain café!

A very spacious and comfortable cottage within a walking distance off the Aviemore main-shopping area and very close to local bus stops. Good for both the groups of hikers and the skiers/snowboarders, with plenty of room to dry clothes, 2 showers, a bath, 4 bedrooms for up to 8 people, huge kitchen and a very nice living room, both with fire-stoves for extra warmth and comfort. Also books, DVDs, tabletop games to spend an evening. And some very beautiful views from windows as well. Been coming to Aviemore every winter for a few years now, for the mountain. Sadly, it was closed due to heavy snow and strong winds. Thankfully, the cottage had everything to keep us very comfortable, and the area have plenty of "poor-weather walks" to occupy restless skiers/snowboarders with no mountain available. First time staying at Glencanisp. Very probably, that will stay there again next year.

This is a fantastic holiday home that has everything you could ever need; from a slow cooker (handy for having meals ready when coming home from a long day sightseeing) to the games, toys and books for children. The accommodation is very spacious and comfortable. I was especially impressed with the beds, most comfortable bed I have EVER slept in. Glencanisp is only a 5-10 minute walk from main town centre with lots of nice bars, restaurants and shops. All in all I would highly recommend this property.
