Glan y Gors Snowdonia, Gwynedd

Lovely cottage, lots of space for a big group.. Clean and comfortable in a lovely location with beautiful views. Originally booked for May but dates easily transferred due to Covid.

The location has a lot of hidden gems, waterfall side walks, lake very close and great views which was a surprised and not expected from the description given..

The property was very comfortable.. The disabled facilities were good except one of the single beds was too soft and two low. The kitchen was well-equipped but old and tired. The oven door didn’t shut properly and the fridge was far too small for a family of 8.

Sadly this holiday cottage did not live up to our expectations to the extent that we came home a day early.. The size and the location of the property was what we wanted so no complaints there. We expected an old house and possibly old furniture, however, the whole place inside needs a complete deep clean and de-clutter. The place is dingy and smells damp. The beds have seen better days and the pillows, quilts and bed linen need to be replaced as they are old and marked. An old curtain is used as the door to the downstairs bedroom. We couldn't use the jacuzzi as the mouldy smell in the bathroom was too bad. The garden cannot be used for children to play in as there is an old dilapidated slide and a lot of rubble lying around. The BBQ and patio area are not usable. We took photos of the worst areas but they don't portray our unhappiness and disappointment. This is an unloved, neglected house not a holiday home. We are so disappointed that we rented a property that is so neglected and we feel that we have been ripped off. This house is not worth over £600 for 3 nights (we stayed 2) and ideally we would like our money back.

The sofa bed in the living room was very uncomfortable an needs replacing.. Also, although there was fire-wood provided for the wood-burner, this was damp and there was no kindling wood provided.Finally, more than one roll of toilet paper per bathroom would have been a nice touch. Overall we were happy with the cottage and the location was excellent. A little more attention to detail and fixing the issue with the sofa-bed would have made it excellent..

We loved staying in the property over Christmas and the New Year.. There was plenty of room for the whole family including older members who could stay on the ground floor. Three bathrooms meant no trouble with blocking and, importantly for the time of year, it was easy to keep the whole house warm!

We had booked the place for 11 of us for hike.. Suitable for large group. Moreover it was the hospitality from the host that we were impressed with. Lesley was very helpful and flexible in terms of accommodating our needs.

The cottage was well presented and equipped with good facilities.. Enjoyed the lovely cake the host greeted on our welcome.

Large property ideal for our family of 10 /mix adults and children Plenty of room for them to play both inside and out.. The owner was very friendly .Location short drive out of town but not too far to LLanberris for restaurants etc.

The cottage was comfortable and provided everything we needed - however it needs updating and a deep clean as many parts were scruffy eg shower cubicle in downstairs wetroom, also most curtains appeared grubby and were hanging off the rails.. Lighting in the sitting room was inadequate with some bulbs not working. Outside areas were a bit overgrown with lots of weeds. No telephone although the details said there was one in the cottage.

Really nice property and friendly owners.. One of my party tried lighting the fire but it just smoked a lot, house was warm enough was the central heating though. First world problems, couldn't get the internet to work.

The property is generally clean, but could do with a deep clean.. It is getting a little tired in places, but this is reflected in the price. One of the WC's wasn't working. A plumber was apparently coming out, but toilet remained unusable - bit frustrating with a large group. Minor gripes; otherwise comfortable stay

This was a traditional type of Welsh cottage.. It's not ultra modern and neither are its facilities but is large, comfortable, clean and warm and had everything we needed. we were very happy in it.

We had an issue with plumbing but the owner responded the same morning, with a plumber on site promptly.. The issue was resolved before we got back from our day out! Very good response, very friendly and welcoming.

The house was very spacious and very well equipped. The garden was great, very good for both adults and children. It was also in a splendid location for going to all kinds of attractions and for walks directly from the house. We enjoyed our stay there very much.

We had an amazing time at the cottage. There was plenty of space for us all. This is the first time any of us have been on a holiday like this one and all of us can't wait to come back again. The owner was lovely and very helpful and the views were spectacular.

This property is in an excellent location. It is peaceful with great views. I took my large telescope and picked out Jupiter. My disabled nephew was with the group and he had the downstairs bedroom giving him his own wheelchair shower. All of the rooms were exceptional for a holiday let and all in my party loved the cottage.

We had an amazing time at the cottage.. There was plenty of space for us all. This is the first time any of us have been on a holiday like this one and all of us can't wait to come back again. The owner was lovely and very helpful and the views were spectacular.

We had a lovely stay at this cottage . It was very clean, comfortable and was well equipped. The wet room was very good for my daughter with special needs. The WiFi and Sky TV was an added bonus! There is plenty to do around the local area and is a very beautiful area to stay in.

A hidden gem with a few flaws but still a gem despite this! We found this place during a web trawl. We were looking for a place in Wales with wheelchair access as well as welcoming pets and we needed four bedrooms with one of them being adapted for a wheelchair user so this place fitted the bill quite nicely. Be aware though Glan y Gors is quite isolated, a car is a must and be prepared for winding roads that go bump in the night and day as you make your way to your destination. Sheep are prevalent, as are walkers, serious bikers and even horse riders. There is ample parking outside the cottage and if you don't have any mobility, or you don't feel you can negotiate the steep concrete slope, you can drive to the kitchen front door and park up. Entry is through the kitchen door which is wide enough to take my outsize wheelchair. The kitchen is big, there is a table for 8 in it, along with a hob, fridge, stove, washing machine, microwave, toaster, kettle, all the usual kitchen utility aids. Be aware the microwave doesn't switch off, it heats your food but keeps on heating it! Well I said this little gem had a flaw or two! Plus some of the pans have seen far better days but the eating utensils from plates to cups are of a good quality. Sharp knives, bring your own, they do supply cutting knives but they are blunt to say the least. Bedding is supplied but bring a towel as these are not included in your stay. The adapted bathroom is roomy, a shower chair is supplied, the loo has all the railings In place but be aware it is right next to a hot radiator and the plinth the toilet itself is on has been in situ since 1998 and needs replacing because when you sit on the loo you rock somewhat. One of the cottages little quirks that the owner says she will sort out. Until then just take a sea sickness tablet and try not to look at any paintings of ships riding waves in a raging sea whilst perched upon the pot. The lounge is spacious, with another dining table and chairs available: there is a log burner to warm your bones on a cold night but there is also good central heating throughout the cottage. There is wifi, but BT apparently was in the process of repairing it during our stay. This is a new addition to the property so there are teething problems that need sorting out. In the adapted room downstairs you can get 4G so for the cyber lovers, all is not lost. The TV had to be replaced as it was faulty, but in all fairness the owner did sort this as soon as we told them there was a problem. It's not a big TV but it is brand new! A flight of stairs leads to three further bedrooms and two bathrooms. In theory a person in a wheelchair can access the rooms upstairs via a lift outside but this is not working, the owner is trying to get a second hand one to replace it but as it is obsolete this is proving somewhat difficult. There is plenty of room for your dog to run around in, a closed in garden that you can use, remember to clean up after your pooch though, and as long as you are careful you can walk the lonely roads further afield if the fancy takes you. This is not a perfect property but it ticks all the boxes I need it to tick. It's adapted enough for me, its quirks are my kind of quirks, plus my bedroom has a fabulous view, the family dog can come along, and it is remote enough for peace and quiet, but near enough to the likes of Bangor to get your big town fix without having to travel for hours. You are also near to loads of places of historical interest, you can get your mountain fix by admiring Snowdonia, and if you are a fan of trains, old and new, then this is the place for you. Would I come back again? Yes, on the provision, that the loo ceases to rock on its own axis, I am all for new and different experiences, but that rocking bogs are a no no.

Lovely character cottage, beautiful views over a beautiful location. Good spacious rooms, lovely log burning stove - all in all fantastic stay for 9 of us aged from 5 - 83!!

The kitchen was full of flies and no wonder, there were 7 people including the children in our party, my wife and mother in law had to wash 7 items of everything, plates, cereal bowls, cups, glasses, cutlery, they were disgusting and dirty, food left on the plates, the cooker had flies all over it, the pots and pans could not be used, you were unable to make even a sandwich without someone with you to get rid of the flies, the living room had seen better days, not like the images on the web site, in fact nothing like it at all. Several light bulbs had gone so they had to be changed by myself and my father in law, all this had to be done before we had even unpacked! How Sykes Cottages can give this accommodation 4 ticks I will never comprehend!! We were also expected to strip all the beds on the day of our departure and also vacuum, isn't that the job of the cleaners, after paying nearly £900 for one week I feel conned!!! On a more positive note the upstairs was at least clean and comfortable and the views were spectacular, pity the property wasn't.

Location was perfect for our intention of climbing Snowdon. The property was warm and ready for arrival. The owner was lovely and accommodating.

It was spacious but felt very cosy and homely. The heating was excellent and warmed every part of the house. The view from the back of the house was lovely and the location was great. Three bathrooms was good for our large family and the living room was big enough for us all to be comfortable in. The kitchen had every utensil you could want and the large table easily seated ten and could of squeezed a few more in. On the whole everything was superb.

Comfortable and cosy cottage. Lots of room for six adults and six children under six. Ideal position with plenty to do without traveling long distances, lovely beaches, walks and places to visit. Could easily have spent another week there. Lovely weather which always helps!

The cottage was well placed for outdoor activities in Snowdonia.. Well appointed with all you could wish for in creature comforts. The owners had made every attempt to make it inviting, with those little things that make all the differance.

The Whirlpool bath was amazing! We did enjoy climbing the mountains

Glan Y Gors Cottage was beautiful, we could not have asked for a more homely and well equipped cottage. Everything was just as good, if not better than, described and the owners were lovely. As for the surroundings, wow, it does not get any more tranquil and picturesque than this. I would recommend not only this cottage but Sykes Cottages to anyone. I know I will certainly be booking again. Many thanks for a perfect holiday.

The cottage is in very quiet, tranquil surroundings and walking in Snowdonia is only a short drive away. My party enjoyed two and a half days of excellent walking/scrambling on Wales' highest peaks.

We enjoyed the beautiful nature and surroundings. The cottage is a good starting point to visit North Wales. We had the opportunity to see most interesting tourist places and spots during our fortnight stay.

The cottage felt so homely straight away, there was no need to settle in. It is in the most amazing and stunning countryside and gives a new meaning to peace and quiet, yet is only a short drive away from amenities etc (ie Llamberis). The cottage itself was more than we could have hoped for and easily accomodated all 10 of us.

A very comfortable and homely cottage.

I would like to say how much my family and I enjoyed our holiday at Glan Y Gors. There is so much to do in North Wales and the house made a fine base from which to venture out each day. The bedrooms were excellent in terms of layout and size. There was more than enough storage, mirrors, etc. The cottage offers tremendous peace and quiet.

Everything was perfect.

The enclosed garden was ideal for the dog. Excellent walking nearby. The property owners very friendly and helpful. A spacious cottage with plenty of room for all. Excellent mountain biking in nearby Betws-y-coed.

The cottage was in a nice quiet location with easy access to all tourist locations and routes to other parts of North Wales. Excellent information on places to visit and a good variety of places to dine. Comfortable, very well equipped and homely especially for rainy evenings in (of which there were many!!). Finally, the welsh bread and fresh flowers to greet our arrival was a welcome sight.
