Area
Little Stretton, just 14 miles south of Shrewsbury, sits at the foot of the Long Mynd Hills, which are known for their breathtaking beauty and rolling countryside walks. There are two great pubs in the village, as well as a charming church. Anyone who loves the outdoors will love exploring the thousands of acres of National Trust moorland and woodlands that make up this stunning Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which features alpine-style hills and valleys. Church Stretton, dubbed "Little Switzerland" by the Victorians because of its picturesque setting, is a charming town nearby. In keeping with its spa town feel, Stretton Hills is home to a variety of tea rooms, pubs, specialty shops, an enormous antiques centre, and an 18-hole golf course perched atop a hillside. Some other places to check out close by include: The Acton Scott Working Farm; Stokesay Castle; Discovery Hill; and the historic towns of Shrewsbury; Ludlow; Ironbridge; Much Wenlock; and Bishop's Castle.

A E Housman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
