Amazing accommodation, beautifully clean and decorated with very comfortable beds! The kitchen has everything you might need for evenings in and there’s also lovely restaurants and cafes within walking distance. The railway is a must and a great day out for everyone. In all an amazing weekend away!!!

This is the second time I have been to this wonderful property and both times were fantastic. The house is incredibly comfortable and clean. The beautiful front garden is a great place to look out over Snowdonia and the sea. Both trips have been a great success and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a lovely time in Wales

The description of this place does not do it justice! Absolutely stunningly uninterrupted views over Snowdonia (including spotting Snowdon istself!) panning across to Porthmadog Harbour and the sea! There were 6 adults and 3 boys (all 10 and under. We were lucky enough to have great weather and sat out every morning (the sun is on the the patio in the morning and is gloriously hot at 8am! We were also lucky enough to see a super moon rise over the harbour. The views out of ALL of the front windows are stunning! You can enjoy the Snowdonia skyline sitting at the kitchen table, lounge, sitting room and all three front bedrooms. Great variety of games, DVDs, books and toys (which would come in handy if the weather isn't so great!). Well stocked kitchen too! Only downside was only one parking space which required confident drivers to get to but we found space on the nearby roads and even when we didn't the car park is cheap! The location is great. Easy walk into Porthmadog which has everything you need plus some beautiful indépendant shops. It's not too touristy but touristy enough to have great ice cream and fish and chips. The park is literally across the road and has space for sports and also a playground (just a shame the crazy golf seems to be closed). The best beach, Blackrock Sands (which you can drive onto which saves lugging all the beach stuff from a car park!) is only 9 minutes drive. Criccieth (for a great castle and pebbly beach) is only 10 minutes away. The Zip World activities are only 30-40 minutes away. We also popped to climb Snowdon up the Llanberis Path which was only 25 minutes drive away too. The house was clean and spacious and I would stay again in a heart beat.

Garth Craig is a comfortable house in a great location.. The bad score is no reflection on Carth Craig however it is on Sykes Cottages!! Not responding to your guests emails, unable to call your office unless you want to be waiting 1 hour plus. When I finally got a response to my email it was just a generic if you want to change your dates etc. I will never use Sykes again and I advise others to so the same.

Everything at Garth was terrific from the well appointed accommodation, the location with its wonderful views over Portmadog and with plants of places to visit or just chill out in the house.. Breakfast outdoor a few mornings in glorious sunshine was a real bonus. Many thanks

This house is a lovely base for exploring the area and with a beach and the town within walking distance.. The house is plenty big enough for 9 people and has everything you could possibly need...and more. If you have limited mobility you may find the walk up from the town to the house a bit of a challenge but otherwise this house would suit anyone. Lovely touches from the owners leaving Welsh cakes and texting a couple of times to make sure we were all ok. Would definitely recommend staying here.

It would be nice to include photos of the location to park, and also the tricky nature of getting to the cottage.. We were fortunate in having confident drivers in the group, but if we hadn't been, negotiating that left turn was no fun. We were also able to fit a small and medium car on the drive which was also fortunate as we would have incurred parking charges otherwise, which i didn't notice in the details. other than that the cottage was great. Could do with a grater.

Really not sure why the only reviews here are for Christmas stays, it's clearly a popular house and will be good for a holiday at any time of year. Five of us stayed for Christmas, no problem at all cooking Christmas dinner in the well equipped kitchen! I now want a double oven myself. The two cosy living rooms make this a very comfortable house for everyone to spread out, both downstairs rooms have living flame gas fires which are perfect for winter evenings (there is central heating too). The views from the front of the house are great, I could sit in bed and see right across the valley to the hills on the other side. From the living room, you have a good view of the harbour. Attentive and helpful owners who sent lots of great information in advance and even phoned just to check everything was ok. It's unusual to have that level of attention in a holiday let, I think. We were met by a bottle of champagne and welsh cakes on arrival. The parking at the back of the house is tight for an estate car but still doable and there was plenty of free parking nearby. In terms of pubs, I'd recommend The Australia which you can see from the house and has Purple Moose Brewery beers. Good to see Porthmadog is a proper town with real people living there, unlike some Cornish villages for example which have been taken over by second homes. I would definitely stay here again.

Enjoyed the stay in the cottage was very close to all attractions and had a fantastic view.. Recommend the Pontoon resturant in PWLLHELI for we celebrated a 50th themed party and we're brilliant. Cottage had a personal loving touch which meant everyone relaxed and felt really at home from the start to the end of the holiday. Would definitely recommend this cottage to friends and intend to return to explore North Wales further.

This house was the best equipped holiday property I've ever seen (and I've stayed in a lot of places! ). Excellent kitchen, bath/shower room, laundry and storage facilities, plus lots of books, toys and games, beach equipment, DVDs, Wifi etc. My husband and I went with our daughter, son-in-law and 3-year old grandson, and all 3 generations loved it. Lots of space for the grown-ups to have a quiet sitting room and still have a whole room just for toys and games (3-year old loved the toy chest in the 2nd sitting room!). Comfortable beds, quiet location, apart from the "toot, toot" of the steam railway a few 100 yards away (3-year old in Thomas the Thank Engine heaven!) but close to shops and facilities, including children's playground. Oh, and the most spectacular views. Excellent all round.

Two living rooms worked out ideal with having children, the views were spectacular and the location was great. The separate toilet from the bathroom upstairs was ideal as well. The owners left Welsh cakes and a Christmas card. We felt very welcome and loved every minute of our stay.

6 adults, a 14 months, 5 and 7 year old children and a 7 week old baby stayed for 4 nights over New Year 2015. We arrived at 3pm and the Tesco delivery came at 4pm all the way up the steep steps! The weather was awful for the 4 days and we therefore made the most of this beautiful cottage. The kids had their own living room and the grown ups had theirs. The kitchen was ample and we were able to all sit round the table and eat. The added bonus of a washing machine with a 7 week old baby's washing was great. The bed rooms were of a nice size and my hubbie and I stayed in the loft room, we pushed the beds together. Once we got used to the low ceiling it was fine. It was very warm up there. We had a slight problem with the cottage and the agent was extremely attentive, the owner even rang to check we were ok. They left us a bottle of fizz, welsh cakes and an xmas card! Location was great, a very short walk from the high street and the Ship pub which became our local let 2 families park their cars for free for the duration. We didn't do much but eat, drink and play games with the kids (loads of great games at the cottage have been left). A thoroughly chilled out time at Garth Craig - thank you!

We hired the property over new year 2014. There were nine of us aged between 6months and 60 years old and we all enjoyed it. The property is in good condition it has three floors we used the ground and first floors, nine of us were accommodated. The facilities are very good two good bathrooms one with shower cubicle and one with bath, the kitchen has everything you need. There are games and guidebooks, the owners rang the first night to make sure we were settling in which was a nice touch. They also gave us a discount as building work had overran ,the effect of this was to reduce the benefit of the view as scaffolding was on the front of the house. This would have been more of a problem in the spring or summer. Porthmadog and the area are lovely and we would like to visit again when the weather is better, although we still found plenty to do !

I've been a regular visitor to Garth Craig for the past 15 years, I stay here every May for a few days with friends to do walking etc. The place is a real home from home with everything you need for a very comfortable stay. the location is brilliant with fantastic views of Porthmadog harbour, Ffestiniog railway and out towards Snowdonia. Close to the shops, restaurants and pubs with the only downside being parking, it's a little tight but over the years we've become use to doing it; the trick is to reverse down....!! Don't delay, go along and see for yourself.

This is an exceptionally 'usable' house for a large family. The kitchen and reception rooms open directly into one another meaning they can all be used by family members without a feeling of separation. The furniture and the beds are all very comfortable. The location of the property is excellent for the town, the harbour and the beach.
