The ad says 2 bathrooms, but there is only the en suite which is tiny.. The en suite is so small you can hardly dry yourself after a shower. The shower was extremely slippery and there is nothing to grab if you slip. The bed was up against the wall so the person sleeping on that side of the bed could only get out by climbing over the other person. The bed could not be pulled away from the wall as there was not enough room. Anyone else staying in the cottage needing the bathroom during the night has to enter the bedroom to use the en suite. AS THERE IS ONLY ONE BATHROOM NOT TWO. The garden is shared with owner and it is immaculate. Pesonally we were nervous to let out dog into the garden in case he damage the plants when chasing the ball. Also, and this is purely a personal opinion, it is not secure garden. My dog is only small but he can jump and would have easily been able to jump the wall to get in the next field, which contained sheep. There is a road that boarders the end of the cottage garden and the fence would be easy for any small dog to get through. Very often the garden gate to the garden was left open. This lead into the open farm yard on out onto the road. The cottage was clean, warm and contained everything you needed, the owner was pleasant and extremely helpful. However, I am sorry to say, due to the size of the bathroom and the unsecure garden I would not come back.

We had an amazing stay at this lovely cottage, it has beautiful gardens which our children loved especially the hiding holes. It was easy to get out and about from here although with such idyllic surroundings it took some persuading to leave! We went with our three year old and 8 month old and found the cottage to be well equipped, clean and practical. It would be suitable for all ages. The owners are lovely and friendly and made us feel at home. I think we shall definitely return. A huge thank you to Geoff and Jane........ We will be back!

On the practical side this accommodation gets top marks - well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, cosy living area and lots of hot water. Friendly owners, idyllic setting, lovely garden to sit and relax in. 2 mins down the road to get phone signal, 20 minute walk to local pub and village shop. I was there for 4 days and found good walks from Cottage every day. Nothing negative to say. Loved every minute of my short break.

A very warm and friendly welcome was provided by the owners who live on the farm joining this cottage. The cottage was clean and cosy with a modern kitchen. Lots of useful equipment and games for the children. The location is very quiet but, with a car, is in easy striking distance of all the main attractions.

Well equipped & looked after cottage with all you need for a short or longer stay. Hesket Newmarket village is walking distance up the road for food at the Old Crown Pub. Great location for access to the lakes.

Just returned from a 3 night stay at Gardeners Cottage. There was 2 adults, 3 kids (3 to 11) and the dog. It's a pleasant quaint cottage attached to the owners home which is a working farm. It was very quiet, and benefited from no phone signal or Wi-Fi. We found everything we wanted in the kitchen. The accommodation was comfortable and cosy. There was a very large garden to the front which was enjoyed by all. We booked last minute direct with the owner, as it if it was done through Cottage Holidays it wouldn't have happened, and been more expensive to boot! The owners were very friendly and accommodating.

The cottage was warm, comfortable and very clean. It has character features expected and has a well equipped kitchen. I was met on arrival and shown around the premises, being informed if there were any problems that the owners are just around the corner. I found them to be a lovely, friendly couple. Magazines and tourist information, including a large map of the area were set out inside which I found very helpful. The garden was quite large, but contained and my little dog loved exploring here. A little way down the road is Hesket Newmarket where 'The Crown' pub is situated. Some good everyday food here and they make their own beers in their brewery to the back of the premises. The Post Office and little store is a couple of doors up. The next village along is Caldbeck with a petrol station and a larger store, although still small. Certain small pieces of meat can be bought here. The cottage was easy to find with the directions given to me when booking. The only downside was the road going to and from it is single lane, but this can be expected in this area and being on a farm.

perfect way to enjoy a work hard, play hard holiday with family. walked all day in the lakes, couple of pints in the crown at hesket newmarket then back to gardners cottage for home comforts. All necessary mod cons but no unnecesary ones ensured great family times and moments.

Such a beautiful part of the country and a great place to get away from it all. Ideal if you want to get away from it all (even mobile phone signals!) Slightly less room than we had expected. The property mentioned it was ideal for younger children but the children's bedroom is open to the lounge and so once the children were in bed we couldn't use the lounge which rather spoilt the evenings
