Foxley Lodge is very quiet and well placed for exploring lots of Norfolk.. We enjoyed trips to lots of beaches as well as Norwich itself and even down to Framlingham in Suffolk from this base. It is close to a supermarket but felt like it was in the countryside, which was really nice and very quiet and peaceful. The owner greeted us on arrival and seemed like a very nice chap; we were then left to enjoy the property for the week.
The cottage is compact but well furnished with shabby chic furniture and two big sofas, which we really appreciated. The kitchen has enough in it to let you cook whatever you want, within reason, and the shower room was functional. The garden is very secure for even the smallest dogs, and ours enjoyed investigating thoroughly. The wide gate has an extra guard to slot into place so that there really is no way for an enterprising pooch to wiggle through or under. There are no views at all from the cottage though, which is something to be aware of. You are also very close to another holiday property from the same owners and if sat outside you can hear each other quite plainly without effort. We felt the biggest plus was how clean and nicely presented the property was.
We found the cottage handy, well equipped and very comfortable downstairs but struggled to sleep - the bedroom seems light and airy but isn’t well ventilated enough to cope in the heatwave and was very hot and stuffy. This in addition to quite thick duvet and pretty inconsequential pillows. The stairs also creak very badly making it impossible to take a trip downstairs to the toilet in the night without waking your partner. We had a good stay but probably wouldn’t return in the future due to this issue - on holiday you want to be well rested but we came home pretty tired from a lack of quality sleep.
