Pronounced Yook-meh-sah-ness, this tastefully restored Menorcan Finca is located near the hamlet of Llucmecanes, just outside the island's capital, Mahon. Llucmecanes is home to a small church and local grocers and there is a popular local restaurant close by. The area is noted for its sleepy atmosphere and is a mecca for walkers but every August the village wakes up for the feast of its patron saint, Sant Gaieta. Festivities include a parade of giant figures, music and copious amounts of the local gin and lemon drink - Pomadas. It's just a short 10 minute drive to a multitude of great restaurants and bars along the picturesque harbour front of the capital whilst inside the town itself there are numerous good shops and a weekly local market held in the main square on Wednesdays.
The internal accommodation is all on the ground floor and consists of air-conditioned bedrooms - one with an en-suite shower room, the other two sharing a bathroom, a fitted, farmhouse kitchen and a comfortable lounge. There's also a very pleasant conservatory lounge over looking the garden to the rear of the house.
The lovely, larger than average, swimming pool is bordered by lawn and offers a refreshing chance to cool down after soaking up the Mediterranean sun. At the front of the house there is an area of natural shade amongst pine trees, a great spot for a barbecue dinner or simply chilling with a good book.
