Once home to Marsilio Ficino, an Italian philosopher and astrologer, this historic farmhouse's hillside position gives way to views of the Val d‘Arno. Though it might not control the territory below as it did in the 11th century, it does still give you access to it. Explore the medieval architecture of Figline and Chianti, just beyond, by driving a few minutes. But the location isn't the only thing that drew us to this home – it also splits the bedrooms between a villa, cottage and annexe, creating pockets of privacy whilst still allowing the group to come together for alfresco meals or poolside days.
Home truths: *We suggest hiring a car for ease – there's parking space for up to six cars here.
*The swimming pool – available for use between 15 May and 15 September – isn't fenced. If you're bringing little ones, they'll need to be supervised at all times.
*The bedrooms are found across three buildings. Though the rooms are only accessible by stairs in the main villa and annexe, there's a ground-floor bedroom and bathroom in the cottage for those with reduced mobility.
*If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot for free. You'll need to request them in advance.
*Pets may be allowed to accompany you here, with prior approval from your host.
