Beautiful cottage in a lovely location. The garden was great. But the shower did not drain (we fixed it ourselves), the kitchen equipment was poor there was only one wine glass we were supplied with 3 dishwasher tablets. The instructions for finding the cottage were poor as no road number was supplied. There was a broken blind and missing pictures. There were no facilities for recycling. Little things make a big difference. I contacted the management firm about the problems but they did not get back

Great location, good facilities although the spiral staircase is a bit tricky to master especially if your clumsy like me.. Good selection of DVDs. Comfortable cottage, nice place to sit at the back door, quiet location. enjoyed a few coast path walks which is nearby, recommend a walk to Woolacoomve via Morthoe, or a walk to Berrynarbour via Hele to other way. Food in the George and Dragon very good - oldest inn in Ilfracombe, very friendly staff. A nice place to relax, a most enjoyable week away.

Very comfortable enjoyable stay.. ..Very clean and tidy and everything you need to enjoy a stress free break...Walking distance of shops and pubs and a great heating system that heated the whole house lovely...and seeing as it was December when i stayed...was most welcome....Highly recommended.

We were disappointed that the cottage did not have any clothes hanging facility along with no iron/ironing board too.. This is odd in a property where stays are a week or more. The shower is in need of a deep clean and re-grouting and re-sealing too as the mould is unsightly. The location was good but the garden is in a dire need of cutting back and is unusable which is a shame.

We have just got back from Fern Cottage, having spent a week there.. Although the position of the cottage is very convenient for access to the town, there were a number of problems associated with the property. The most annoying of these was the shower tray, the drain was blocked and after the first person had had a shower, it took 40 minutes for the shower tray to empty before the next person could use it. Despite the fact that it is stated that "road side parking is available" it is only allowed during the winter months. There are car parks in the town but these proved to be expensive. In the end we went to the Tourist Information Centre (TIC) and bought a weekly pass, it is a pity that the owners did not inform us that these was available. Strangely, there are no wardrobes in the property, so there is no where to hang shirts or dresses etc. At least five of the light bulbs had blown and not been replaced. The TV is extremely small and therefore difficult to watch. There was no way of lighting the gas hob, as the sparking mechanism does not work. Lastly the garden and so called patio area is dark and very dirty. It need a good tidy up. Sandpiper, the maintenance company for the property, were extremely helpful. After a quick phone call to them, the light bulbs were replaced, a gas lighter for the cooker was provided and a plumber was sent to rectify the shower drain. They also provided a mirror for the main bedroom as there wasn't one when we arrived.

The neighbours are upset with people having bbq's at Fern Cottage and I think this needs to be made clear to holiday makers.. Also, guidance on the rubbish and recycling as all places are different and have different recycling bins/containers. Our rubbish was never collected during the week we were there.

We had a lot of trouble trying to open the key safe. the man from Sandpiper came to our recuse he was so helpful. The property could do with a clean of all the corners and behind the corner sofa. The shower takes 10 mins for the warm water to come through and the same with all the other taps. The TV no guide to help! we had a lot of difficulty trying to get the TV to work. The outside of the property needs weeding and the back garden is over grown. The parking is very difficult.
