We have just returned from a very relaxing week at Farley Lodge.. It’s location is stunning with deer a regular sight. Our only comments would be for the 2nd bedroom to also have a king size bed and we found the sofas a bit uncomfortable. Would it stop us coming back - absolutely not.
Mrs Fumagalli, September 2020
This is our fourth visit to Farley lodge, we return because it is so good, we love that it is set in the woods with spectacular views, the accommodation is really big and very well designed, lovely walks, the people in the farms down the lane are very friendly, there was a lovely park for the children, with a zip wire and adult course etc etc, in the near by village, where the shop is.. Will visit again
Ms Quigg, August 2020
Amazing lodge in an absolutely beautiful setting.. We had a brilliant, peaceful, relaxing stay!
Mrs Cade, July 2020
Myself and my husband have visited Farley Lodge previously with parents and enjoyed our stay so much we booked to revisit with our friend and her two year old Son.. We couldn’t have made a better decision, we had a wonderful week away! Thank you
Mrs Harris, March 2020
This is the third time of staying at Farley Lodge and we love it.. Peaceful and tranquil setting. Very nice, relaxing break.
Mr Smith, February 2020
The cottage was very luxurious, and our little daughter really appreciated having horses and other animals in the neighbouring fields.. It's necessary to drive carefully though as you're getting near to the property as the road is very bumpy and we ended up with a puncture. Check out time was also a bit early at 10am. But overall it's a great place to stay.
Miss Freer, January 2020
Gorgeous house in a gorgeous setting!
Mrs Robinson, November 2019
Great accommodation in a superb setting.. We were sorry to leave after a week of great walks from the doorstep and some good local pubs to enjoy - what more could you want!
Mrs Soper, November 2019
The cottage is very comfortable and is set in beautiful surroundings..
Mrs Wallis, December 2019
What a beautiful lodge! The unmade Road is a slight challenge but that's ok as the end destination is worth it. Wonderful little card to welcome us along with homemade cakes! The lodge is well equipped, comfortable and set in a fantastic position. Superb walks for the dogs.
Mr Gunn, November 2019
Wonderful property, very spacious , very clean, well equipped & with a stunning outlook.. We all spent hours just watching the wildlife & the weather passing through the valley. Our married sons joined us for the weekend & were so impressed one has already booked for their holiday next year.
Second time at this holiday cottage as we loved it so much the first time.. Peaceful location with walks and wildlife on the doorstep. Didn’t find the sofa particularly comfy this time. Cushions have gone saggy and don’t support your back. Lovely flap jack on arrival.
The listings do not represent the reality! Accomodation is much better than shown.
We had a great time. We wonder to recommend to anyone, as we may miss out ourselves next time
House, reception, owners outstanding.
The tranquillity of the surroundings, the quiet lane and the view over the fields as the sun rose in the mornings..
A fantastic lodge, all the facilities and layout were brilliant for a family break with 3 children, it felt like home but with more modern comforts! We hope to be back soon.
Very comfortable and well appointed
Perfect for woodland walks and bike
Very good wood fire.
Cottage was well furnished, spacious, warm and comfortable.. The setting was beautiful with lovely woodland walks from the door. We will definitely return to Farley Lodge.
This is the third time we have booked either Farley Lodge or Little Farley.. Both are dog friendly and there are great walks for the dog on the doorstep. It is the first time we have visited the area in the autum. The colours of the trees where spectacular. We will be visiting the property again next year.
This is the second time we’ve been back to this cottage and it was just as good as the first time.. Plenty of room for a family of six.
Well done Sykes and Owners - Excellent accommodation and location.. The only comment is the leather sofas which were uncomfortable and noisy every time one moved.
Very quiet wooded location so ideal for relaxing and walking.. Good access by car to local city, south coast and new forest plus a number of interesting local attractions. A number of good eating places within 10 minutes drive. Car needed to get to local shop (no local public transport). very well appointed lodge, large private garden, impressive views over the countryside.
We enjoyed the spaciousness of the rooms, the large kitchen and comfortable living room.. During the extreme heat of the summer, we enjoyed sitting and eating on the patio, watching the sunset and waiting for the bats to appear overhead. The owners were great, who dealt with a wasps nest immediately. We lacked for nothing and loved the tranquillity of the woods.
Our daughter was getting married in a local church and Farley Lodge made a great base for us all ahead of and after the wedding.. We hired the Lodge for two weeks and it took all the pressure off the preparations and gave us the perfect place to unwind in the days following the great day. A hotel would not have given us the same opportunity to relax. Megan the owner, and Lisa the housekeeper could not have been more welcoming. We felt perfectly at home. Fantastic, thank you.
Lovely property in a beautiful location! Will definitely book again!
This is the second time we have stayed at Farley Lodge and I am sure we will be back! Excellent accommodation and location, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves again.
From the moment we arrived it felt very peaceful and homely.. The facilities were all excellent 3 lovely bedrooms a very large kitchen and lounge. Plenty of room for coats and boots when you came back from walking in the woods. To just step out of the front door across the path and into Bentley woods was perfect every day we saw lots Deer and squirrels although we got lost on several occasions we always managed to find our way home. An added bonus was the village shop in Winterslow which sells everything and we spent several mornings in Stockbridge where the parking in free and the shops are all individual. We were 4 adults and there was plenty of room for each of us to have our own space. If you want a holiday where you can just relax in peaceful surroundings this is for you.
We stayed here during the Great Blizzard of 2018 - such an amazing location to see the snow come in from. If anything, the pictures undersell it.
The house is perfectly appointed - everything you need, with some lovely touches to make the stay a little bit special.
Most importantly the heating and hot water worked flawlessly for our family - two Grandparents, two kids and my wife and I. We had the log burner on for a couple of nights just for atmosphere really, as the house was plenty warm enough.
The owners being just next door is absolutely brilliant - they let the kids feed the newborn lambs, and when we got stuck in the snow on our way home, they organised a rescue effort and towed us all the way to the main road. Many thanks for that, if you're reading!
Can't recommend this place enough, we hope to stay there again soon.
A spacious well-equipped property.. Comfortable beds. The unmade road was not really a problem if you stayed in bottom gear.
Wonderful Home and location.. I would just suggest a few extra touches such as cooking condiments like olive oil, salt and pepper, herbs and a few pantry items. Overall though a wonderful holiday cottage that we wish we could have stayed longer at.
We had a brilliant weekend at Farley Lodge.. Virtually everything about it was amazing; the location, the size of the lodge and its facilities were all wonderful. The yummy cupcakes and milk provided on arrival were a lovely welcoming touch. We very quickly felt quite at home here. The added bonus was the super weather, particularly on Sunday when our older daughter and family and her in-laws joined us for a roast dinner. It was so good we sat outside for much of the day and the little ones had great fun playing in the large rear garden and in the woods opposite, where they spotted a huge herd of deer. Everyone was very impressed with the lodge itself and its beautiful location. We only had a couple of slight niggles. One of the tv controllers needed new batteries and only one toilet roll was supplied in each bathroom. However, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this venue and we're hoping to book again for next summer.
The layout of property was excellent with bedrooms at either end of house.. Had log burner on...had to open french doors as it was too hot. Met briefly with owner who was pleasant to chat to. Will go back in the future.
We had a lovely week and very much enjoyed both the accommodation and area we would like to return very soon
Very pleasant and tranquil location, good views of fields and horses.. Great place for walks around the woodlands. Very comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen. Clean and tidy throughout!
Exactly what other reviewers have said! A lovely lodge, very spacious, with views over open countryside. Very tranquil. We stayed here as a family of five (one child) - our grand-daughter loved watching the horses in the field outside, and deer-spotting in the woods opposite.
Yes, there is a rutted track for half a mile up to the farm and lodge (through Bentley Woods), but in normal cars we were okay, driving carefully round the potholes. The drive adds 5mins to any journey time, but worth it for the secluded location.
There is a very good village shop in the next village (Winterslow), which sells everything including fresh meat and veg. The roads around there are very narrow. There are various small villages with village pubs where you can eat. Salisbury is a 15min drive away, but we didn't go there as there is bad traffic congestion due to roadworks.
It's easy to go south, picking up the A36 to the New Forest, Ringwood and the South Coast. We made a day trip to the Isle of Wight using the Lymington ferry. If you have kids, the New Forest Wildlife Park is a must! And of course, driving round the New Forest, seeing the ponies.
At the lodge, you make your own entertainment, walking in the woods, relaxing or playing games. But there are plenty of places within reach for days out. I only switched the TV on once, and that was to check the weather forecast!
Recommended for a relaxing rural holiday.
Absolutely superb! ! Can't fault the lodge in any way and the views were stunning. Everything you need is available and it really does feel like home from home! Would 100% recommend to anyway who's looking for a relaxing week away and not far from Sailsbury and Winchester for days out.
The cottage was outstanding with views to die for.. It was spacious with lovely decor. We were a party of 2 couples, one small child and one dog and the layout was ideal for us. All rooms good sizes and incredible views from all. Kitchen was my favourite room and sitting outside in the garden with the sun shining and a glass of wine was perfect! Couldn't recommend it more. Sykes very helpful with a few enquiries about supermarket shopping delivery etc.
Farley lodge was an ideal setting for us, so spacious and the views were stunning, looking out to the countryside from all angles.. Having two dogs we were right by Bentley woods where we did several walking trails and you could see the Deer that lived within. The lodge itself was well equipped with everything you needed. We could not ask for a better stay and location. We will certainly return to Farley Lodge in the near future.
Mrs Pitt, May 2017
Great Cottage, everything we wanted for a long weekend..
Everything you could possibly want in a holiday rental. Comfortable well maintained property. Well equipped. Large garden that included a boules pitch. Central heating supplemented with a log burner in the lounge. Laundry room with a tumble drier if required.
Lots of birdlife in the garden - bring some seed. Sheep in the field next door and deer to be seen in the woods across the track.
Easy to get to from the main road and only a few miles from Salisbury
Farley Lodge is 5* accommodation. The facilities are top notch. The views are beautiful. We loved going for walks in Bentley Woods and surrounding villages. Lots of lovely pubs near by. So relaxing and quiet the perfect place to relax and get away from it all.
Will definitely be back soon.
Mr Card, January 2017
The property was amazing and such good value for money.. The pictures didn't do it justice and we wished we had booked it for longer! We'll definitely be back.
Mrs Read, November 2016
Perfect for our needs, lots of room, good location, even the weather was kind to us, Megan was very good host..
Miss Adam, December 2016
Farley Lodge is absolutely beautiful.. Our children (8yrs and 2yrs) loved the cottage!
Only negative feedback would be that I'd emailed Sykes Cottages and asked if there was a highchair and a travel cot - which I was told there is not. When we arrived there was in fact a booster seat in the cupboard and a travel cot.
What a gorgeous place to spend a weeks holiday! The house was absolutely stunning with every thing you could wish for making it a home from home. Seeing all the wildlife so close up and the peace and quiet of the woodlands was surreal! I cannot recommend this house enough! The owner was absolutely lovely and the home made cakes to die for! Would definitely visit again! Salisbury is a lovely city to visit and it's nearby which is great! Thank you for a lovely week :)
Mr Banks, November 2016
A really lovely cottage in a great location, remote, peaceful, owners very accomodating, cupcakes where delicious.. Thoroughly recommend, pictures dont really do the cottage any justice. Easy access to Salisbury, portsmouth, bournemouth, southampton, new forest, Good pubs, nice walks
It was home away from home, I would like to return there again. The mattress must have been new and the linen was better than in a hotel. The house was just perfect.
A faultless property and great walking.
The location is superb: great view and the dog really enjoyed walking in the woods.

This Lodge was absolutely lovely.. It was set in unspoilt woodland; we saw deer and lots of interesting bird life. There was a log burner and a fabulous large kitchen, and both bathrooms were very modern and spotless. Everything we needed was there.
Myself and my husband could not asked for a beautiful place to stay. Farley Lodge was stunning, so spacious with a large main bedroom with en-suite walk in shower. We particularly liked the huge country kitchen looking out over the country fields in the morning was eye catching.
