The directions to the cottage were clear and concise. We were pleased that the cottage lived up to our online view of it back in January. The owner met us shortly after arrival and was friendly. The cottage was comfortable and modern, we particularly liked the oak stairs and furniture which were made locally, even the coat rack by the door was inspiring.
The provision of some beer and chocolates on arrival was a nice touch although bread and milk might have been more practical.
The ECO kettle was a pain in the wrist - literally- for my wife, it was just as easy to fill a kettle with sufficient water for two cups of coffee! It was quite heavy to lift.
The instructions about the day to day running of the cottage were very good, although we already do recycle things at home so this was not new to us, although some comments in the visitors book suggested otherwise. As suggested, we attempted to walk into Cockermouth by the riverside footpath, we soon gave up after a few hundred yards of not very well defined footpath, barbed wire and flotsam and jetsam from the river
Parking and access were excellent. A good base to explore the North western Lake District but a bit of a trek if you needed to venture down to Coniston or Windermere. The nearby restaurant at Winder hall in Lorton was very good -friendly service and good food.
All in all comfortable, spacious accommodation.
