Sunnyside Cottage is a 19th century cottage situated in Bampton, Oxfordshire. The property is located in the same village the famous TV drama Downton Abbey was filmed. It has been carefully renovated into a modern country cottage, with features such as Hypnos beds and designer furniture, however the property still retains its period charms with its exposed beams and wood burning stove. The property has an open-plan living room with an open fire and dining room, as well as a fitted kitchen with a separate breakfast located in the conservatory. There is one ground floor king-size bedroom and one first floor king-size bedroom with two separate bath and shower rooms and WC. Outside is a classic cottage garden courtyard, perfectly manicured with a table and chairs provided. Off road parking is available. Sunnyside Cottage is perfect for two couples. No children or Pets allowed.

Two en suite bedrooms: 1 x ground floor king size double ('zip/link' can be twin on request), 1 x first floor king size double.Ground floor bathroom with bath, handheld shower, basin and WC. First floor master bathroom with walk in shower room, double sink, vanity unit and WC. Kitchen with breakfast room. Living room with dining area and woodburner. Utility room/cloakroom with WC and basin. NOTE: This property does not accept children under 12.

The thriving village of Bampton lies in the Thames Valley in the southern Cotswolds, amidst beautiful Oxfordshire countryside. Bampton is one of the oldest villages in England boasting a village shop, Post Office, butcher, and traditional pubs serving good food and real ales, all set around a pretty market square. Ancient customs can still be experienced with the regular morris dancing festivities, which have been enjoyed for over 600 years. Just four miles away is the riverside town of Witney, which offers many attractions including a weekly market dating back to the Middle Ages, an 18th century town hall, and Wychwood Brewery.

Visitors to the Cotswolds have long treasured memories of charming towns and villages built from the famous honey-coloured stone, it now boasts a thriving community of contemporary artists working from studios and shops throughout the area.

I cannot say enough about Sunnyside Cottage.. ! My husband and I just spent a glorious week at this very charming, very comfortable cottage in the beautiful little town of Bampton. Conveniently located in the heart of The Cotswolds, Bampton is a small almost untouched village. Because of its originality and period charm, it has been used throughout the filming as downtown ‘Downton’ in the hit series Downton Abbey. St. Mary’s church, Mrs. Crowley’s house, the library, it’s all there, A wonderful map called the Downton Mile has been created for visitors. It takes you on a wonderful walking tour of Bampton where there is so much to see beyond DA in this wonderful town brimming with history. A short walk from Sunnyside Cottage and you are in the heart of Bampton This treasure of a house is more than 200 years old. However, it has been recently renovated with an updated well stocked kitchen, new bathrooms and more. My husband and I were in the upstairs master bedroom with a very large brand new attached bath with a large roomy shower. Tons of closet space. Very comfortable king size bed. We didn’t use it but there is also a lovely downstairs king size bedroom also with its own very nice bathroom. The entire house has been professionally redecorated, top to bottom with beautiful period furnishings as well as new comfortable seating and carpeting. Easy to use fireplace that was efficient and started up easily. We were there in early May so we were lucky enough to experience an explosion of blooms and greenery in the perfectly maintained lush garden. A very thorough large binder has been made for guests filled with maps of surrounding towns, menus of local restaurants, brochures of various attractions and more will more than meet the need of any visitor regardless of their interests. My only regret is that we had to inevitably leave! We do hope to return here someday as there is much we would like see that we couldn’t fit in this trip but we will feel at home and happy returning to Sunnyside Cottage and The beloved town of Bampton.
