Area
Established in Saxon times, Beadnell is a charming harbour village set on a wonderful stretch of the Northumberland Coast, an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, popular with birdwatchers. Beadnell Bay itself has a Blue Flag award and is one of the prettiest beaches in the area. The town of Seahouses is close to the beach and with two welcoming pubs and shops and restaurants close by it is, unsurprisingly popular with locals and holidaymakers alike. The Farne Islands are a short boat trip away, as are both Bamburgh and Alnwick Castles. The former is a huge bird sanctuary, created by St Cuthbert, who along with St Aidan, was one of the first monks to bring Christianity to Britain. That heritage is also upheld at the holy island of Lindisfarne, which can be reached via the causeway at Beal (depending on the tides).

Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

Self-Catering Reviews

Mrs Waring, September 2020
September 2020
This is the first time I have had to do a negative review on a Sykes property and I don't do it lightly.. This property needs a deep clean some surfaces ok but still felt the need to clean again in view of current situation. Lightshades covered in thick dust, extractor fan in bathroom and top of shower, fridge needed a good wipe, carpet in lounge and hall area has large bumpy areas, does not fit tight. Some walls need redecorating. All in all needs a thorough clean and some updating.Yes this could have been mentioned to the owner but we did not want the upheaval of a deep clean whilst on holiday.

Had a wonderful time at Bay View cottage Beadnell ,we were met on arrival by the owner Christopher who gave us a tour of the apt and explained how everything worked, the cottage itself was lovely and cosy with amazing views of the sea ,Beadnell Bay and the sand dunes.. Wanted to book again for next year but Bay View was fully booked , Christopher is really friendly and makes you feel at home nothing is too much trouble. Would definitely recommend had a totally positive experience Mrs Kennedy South Yorkshire

3rd holiday visit to Beadnell and 1st time at Bay View flat.. Flat was home from home, well equipped with good quality fittings and furnishings. Settee, armchairs and very large bed really comfortable. It's a stone's throw from the lovely sandy bay. Would happily stay in this flat in the future. Very approachable owner too.
Mrs Rowley-smith, September 2020
August 2020
The owner met us and was on hand but not intrusive.. There were added little extras such as some milk and biscuits and crisps which were very welcome. The property had a very well equipped kitchen which was great as we ate in most of the time. The beds were comfortable with good quality bedding. The property has parking and is very near the beach and harbour. The kitchen had things like kitchen roll, washing up liquid, tea towels and lots of other things that came in handy.

We had a great stay, everything you could think of was provided, even the additional request of a high chair and cot.. The owner was easy to contact, very friendly and took the time to show us around to explain everything. The location was also great, in a nice village with a beautiful beach a couple of minutes away.

December 2019
A spacious, well equipped apartment in an excellent location for beach walks.. A modern spacious kitchen with more than enough utensils including a dishwasher, which was handy. Large open plan living/dining room. Th Smart TV works through the internet, so you’ve got Netflix, don’t forget your login details.Good strength WiFi. Bathroom has a shower over the bath. The shower pressure was quite low. The master bedroom has a comfortable massive king size bed and loads of wardrobe and drawer space. The twin room just has a set of drawers for storage. The two village pubs are about a 20 minute level walk away. We had a good meal at Beadnell Towers. We contacted and met the owner (Christopher) on two or three occasions during our stay. He’s a very approachable and helpful gentleman who showed us around the apartment on arrival and also offered advice and information in response to a few questions we had. Would definitely recommend this apartment and hope to stay there again in the future.

What a great place to stay.. Chris was so welcoming. You walk in the door and just know you are going to love it, so clean and tidy and has everything you could possibly need. You can even see the sea from 2 rooms. So close to a wonderful beach with plenty of walks. I would recommend this place and hope to return next year.

Bay View was just like a Home from Home, everything you needed was there.. Comfortable Lounge, Kitchen with it's Fridge Freezer, Microwave, Washing Machine, Dish Washer and lovely view out to the Bay. Comfortable Bedroom with it's Kingsize Bed, Nice! The second Bedroom with Two Single Beds. Excellent location, so close to a Lovely Sandy Beach and perfectly placed for visiting places of Interest in the Surrounding Area. A Return Visit is certainly on the cards.

The photos of the property didn't do it justice! There was everything we needed and it was in a great location for many of the attractions on the Northumbrian coast. It was really comfortable and we very much appreciated the new super king size mattress. On top of everything, Chris was a great landlord! Mick and Trish

Brilliant location.. Rocky shore with pools 100 yards on one side and very long sandy beach 100 yards on other. Very clean and well equipped flat. Private and off road parking. Grandkids loved it there.
Mrs Stocks
July 2018
Location was great, flat was clean and extremely well equipped - probably the best we’ve ever had and we’ve stayed in tens of holiday rentals over the years.. Would like to have been able to open windows more than just a couple of inches but as the weather was not too hot it wasn’t really a problem. Mattresses and sofa were a little on the saggy side for my tastes but that’s just me.
Mrs Potts

The apartment was very well furnished, especially the sitting room, and we felt at home during our stay. It is a lovely area, very quiet. We enjoyed being able to walk to the nearby beach. August 2013
First floor apartment with sea views from the balcony. Very close to the beach and a short walk to the small harbour of Beadnell with its famous lime kilns. There is a small grocery store and fish and chip shop a 15 min walk away (limited opening hours), but quite adequate. Seahouses is a short drive with Bambrough a little further. The apartment was well equipped, spacious and comfortable. There is a pub and hotel which serves food in the village centre. Directions for collecting the key could have been clearer, but that's my only complaint. I'd certainly stay there again.
Mrs Patton

We have taken breaks in Northumberland for many years and in the Beadnell area or village for the last 7. This was THE ideally located place that we have stayed at. Honestly 2 to 3 minutes from one of the best beaches in the UK. This property is very, very comfortable and well presented. One very short flight, with a view of the beach from the living room and balcony. All very peaceful. We rarely go anywhere twice but will certainly go back there if available next year. The walk along the beach, via Low Newton to Craster is about a 2 and half journey if fit and well worth it....there are buses back from Craster if needed! Honestly cannot fault it, as for weather....well, it is the UK...so what if it rains, it is stunning countryside!

Lovely flat in a great location. The flat was comfotable and had everything we needed. The beach was very close by. Beadnell is small but had a shop, a pub, restaurant and a fish and chip shop. There are plenty of places to visit nearby especially if you like castles. The only thing that could have made it better was the weather.

The apartment was all you could wish for. Very clean, comfortable and modern. It was only about 50 yards from a lovely beach. Good food in the local pub in the village which was a short walk across the field and a bit longer walk on the way back via the road. Very central for all sites along the coast, Seahouses, Bamburgh Castle, Farne Islands, Alnwick Castle and Gardens and Berwick-on-Tweed. Did all these attractions but not much driving. Would recommend this to anyone.
