I had read plenty of good reviews of the cottage, so did go expecting it to be pretty good, and it was much as expected, but more spacious - especially the two bedrooms - airy and light, with lots of space.. Bev, the owner was lovely and welcoming on our arrival, with a bottle of milk, jam doughnuts and dog biscuits. There was also a parking permit for our use anywhere in town that it was needed, advice on how to get to the beach, and recommendations on all essential facilities in the town. The beach itself, when we went to it, was simply stunning - very quiet, and a massive long stretch of sand, with plentiful views of Dumfries and Galloway over the Solway Firth. A bit of a challenge to reach with a buggy over the sand dunes, but definitely worth the effort.
Bev is a golf coach and former pro golfer, and the dining room doubled up as a golf practice room, which would have been brilliant if you are a fan of golf - and almost tempted me to learn
