The cottage was homely and very clean and tidy.. The beds were quite firm which was really good for my bad back. Bedrooms were a good size. The welcome pack that was left was a really nice touch. Posters left that told you were shops, beach, pub and places of interest was useful. We had a lovely holiday at The Dormie House and would book again.

The cottage was spacious and spotless.. Comfy beds and easy street parking. Lacking the usual extras, DVD's books etc but all down to Covid I think. Would certainly book again.

Lovely clean place.. .. some nice touches...milk in the fridge and custard doughnuts on arrival, tea n coffee and washing liquids/hand soap provided. Comfy beds and warm duvets. Easy heating controls. Would probably have used the lounge more if sofa's were more comfy and the view of the tv better from second sofa.. but not a major issue as we were out n about alot...such a beautiful area..especially along the coast rd. We drove to Keswick and Cockermouth..both great. Lovely view of the golf course and an easy walk into town or the beach. We've already rebooked for next year so we certainly enjoyed our stay. And any problems Bev will sort out for you. Cant say fairer than that... looking forward to our return x

We loved the holiday and are trying to get time off from work to go back in September.. The Dormie, Silloth, Cumbria, was clean, comfortable and welcoming after a day out sightseeing and walking on the beach with our dog, Sierra. This is the first time we have taken a dog away with us (usually left with family) we were so surprised at all the dog friendly shops etc. Which made places more accessible for us. Having Sierra with us made it a little more special and having a pet friendly base to live for our holiday was great. Bev was a great host, met us with the keys and ensured we had everything we needed. We really hope to be back in September.

We had a great holiday in this getaway house.. Walks on the long beach in the morning with the dog and a very friendly little town. House was great for a week stay although no iron, ironing board or washing machine. Does have wifi and everything else you would need. No problem at all with parking outside the house and a great base to explore the area, will definitely recommend.

There is no mention that the cottage is on a very busy road with lorries passing constantly and it is a very small courtyard.. Most uncomfortable chairs ever and very low to sit on.

I had read plenty of good reviews of the cottage, so did go expecting it to be pretty good, and it was much as expected, but more spacious - especially the two bedrooms - airy and light, with lots of space.. Bev, the owner was lovely and welcoming on our arrival, with a bottle of milk, jam doughnuts and dog biscuits. There was also a parking permit for our use anywhere in town that it was needed, advice on how to get to the beach, and recommendations on all essential facilities in the town. The beach itself, when we went to it, was simply stunning - very quiet, and a massive long stretch of sand, with plentiful views of Dumfries and Galloway over the Solway Firth. A bit of a challenge to reach with a buggy over the sand dunes, but definitely worth the effort. Bev is a golf coach and former pro golfer, and the dining room doubled up as a golf practice room, which would have been brilliant if you are a fan of golf - and almost tempted me to learn

The cottage was clean and tidy and the beds were comfortable.. There were however issues which could and should have been highlighted in the property description. Notably: 1 The 2 bedrooms are on the 1st floor whereas the only toilet/bathroom is situated on the ground floor. This is both inconvenient and becomes progressively annoying the longer you stay. 2 The kitchen lacked many of the facilities essential to a self catering holiday. In particular there were no laundry facilities (ie no washing machine or dryer' and no iron or ironing board). 3.There was no dishwasher and the kitchen utensils were sparse (for example there were no egg cups) and not conducive to anything other than basic cooking.

We got there very early and contacted Bev who very kindly allowed us in to the cottage, we could not ask for a more warmer welcome.. The cottage was spotless homely. The area was quiet and the locals were very nice the cottage was perfect for our needs being easy to go to the places we wanted to without to much trouble. As have nobility problems i was nervous about the stairs, but needn't have worried although the stairs were steep they manageable. I would like to thank Bev for her warm welcome and would not hesitate to return again in the futre. You made our week away very pleasant we could not recommend this escape higher
