I’d like to start by saying that we had a lovely holiday, however Dairy Cottage 2 is being left to rack and ruin. There is damp, the windows are rotten with holes in the frames and there is an overwhelming smell of oil from the boiler, that clearly isn’t working since there’s barely enough hot water for one shower, never mind five! We had to decide who was getting warm water that day. Since the cottage is owned by the local council, they should do more about the upkeep and preservation of what could be a beautiful property.

It was wonderful to go out in the mornings to greet all of the animals before the general public were allowed in.. The location was very convenient for the south Manchester area. Eating breakfast outside, overlooking Tatton Park was lovely. The only thing that could have made it better would have been WiFi. The lack of WiFi became an niggling irritation but the overall holiday was lovely and suited us after the lockdown due to COVID-19.

A lovely Cottage in beautiful surroundings.. Has all you need for a comfortable stay. Could do with a bit of love and attention. Also some repairs to the windows or new windows. Despite that we really enjoyed our stay.

The furniture could really benefit from a clean or recovering.. The sofas were badly stained and have lost some of their spring. The single beds were really uncomfortable, new mattresses are required.

This was the second time I have stayed here, having stayed in Apartment 1 last year.. The noise of planes from Manchester Airport does not bother me, nor any of the other members of my party, but will do to some and this should be made clearer in the listing. Whilst the property had been well cleaned and was fully equipped, it is clear it is some time since the property has been updated/undergone an overhaul. I would think it unlikely on any modern definition of a four star rating that this would qualify with areas of the property (such as the utility room) extremely messy and the freezer shoved in a dark cupboard in this room where an oil fired boiler provides a 'nice' oily smell. The property location, both for Tatton Park itself and for the North West as a whole with its proximity to the M6, cannot be faulted. It is sadly showing signs of its age and is not perhaps the jewel it once was or could indeed be in the future.

Cottage is tired.. We have stayed here 3 times over last 3 years. En-suite bathroom floor tiles need regrouting - most of it gone. Ensuite fan not working. Pillows need replacing as have lost all shape. Both Sofa is badly stained with water marks. Sofa not cleaned under - fluff. Only 2 half rolls of toilet paper provided. Previously provided a small selection from Tatton shop this time just tea coffee and some basic tesco biscuits.

The location of the property was as advertised but the property itself was very tired looking - inside and out.. The lounge furniture wasn’t really comfortable and the door between the 2 apartments wasn’t soundproof or smell proof. The back lobby, where the boiler was housed was untidy and the smell of oil from it was very unpleasant. It was very untidy and hard to get outside from it as the door to garden wouldn’t open very wide. The outside furniture is falling to bits and the garden needs a good tidy up. Upstairs the beds were not very comfortable, the en-suite door didn’t close fully. The bathroom radiator wasn’t working when we arrived and we had to get the maintenance guy out to repair it. There was nothing mentioned about the closeness of Manchester airport - the property was right on the flight path hence we had planes passing right overhead from early morning until late at night - certainly didn’t match the description of an isolated position. We certainly wouldn’t describe it as a 4 star luxury property. Overall we we’re very disappointed with the property.

Wonderful location within Tatton Park once you get used to the height of the jets taking off from Manchester airport Tatton park grounds and mansions and rare breed farm are well worth exploring Tea Room at the Gardeners Cottage is a treat ! Try the fish shop ''Hooked'' in Knutsford - all freshly cooked

This is the 4th time we have been here .. . beautiful cottage( but with all modern facilities ) located in country surroundings but in an area where there are lots of things to do and see and to suit all ages.If you want some peace and quiet where you are staying but to be central to many places and activities this ticks all the boxes. For example Tatton House and Park are right on your doorstep but the cottage is within easy driving distance of Manchester City Centre, Trafford Shopping Centre, Chester, Liverpool etc but also the Peak District Villages of Bakewell and Buxton. We have already booked for next year... 5 in a row!

For us, the lack of Wi-Fi was a bonus as it restricted the teenagers usage and allowed us to spend more quality time together.. It also kept us from being tempted to work. The cottage is located on the edge of the Farm attraction which our grandchildren enjoyed when they visited. However, due to restricted access and fencing we felt quite hemmed in at times, especially in the morning and evening when the farm closed. It would be an improvement if there was a pedestrian gate to be able to go for a walk and/or run before 12 midday or after 5:00 p.m. The voucher was an excellent idea and encouraged us to visit the house and gardens as this was free. Knutsford itself was a lovely town and well worth a visit providing you do not mind the intermittent plane noise overhead. We had a nice meal at the Lost and Found.

Children would have appreciated internet access.. Duvets too warm. On one occasion there was a problem with the electric supply(low power) which according to neighour is a recurring problem. *On the whole we really enjoyed our time at the cottage, having access to all Tatton Park facilities was fantastic- lots to see and do on site, especially good as we had bicycles with us. *House was very well equipped- we appreciated having tea, coffee& milk to start us off. *Location excellent

Stayed here mid January 2016 with wife, daughter and my mother. This was my second time here. Previous stay was almost 3 years previous. Cottage hasn't changed. It's still a lovely, comfortable relaxing location. Location is superb. This time (during winter) we didn't see as much activity on the farm. That may have been due to our travelling away early and returning late. Lovely to see the animals - reindeer this time and the piglets. I won't go into details on the accommodation as I covered it pretty well last time. The rooms are warm and comfortable. The log fire in the lounge room was put to good use. As the front door opens into the room, even with the draft stopper, the room needed the fire to get it warm. The initial supply of kindling lasted the full week but the logs went in a couple of days. The logs are not seasoned so they leaked resin on the hearth. Best to keep them in the log basket with the newspaper and kindling. The logs are an easy purchase from petrol station in Knutsford or from a larger supermarket - Tesco in Northwich for example. The cottage is on the flight part to / from Manchester airport. We did hear planes in the morning, but this wasn't a problem for us. Time to get up anyway. Watch out in winter on cold mornings. The flagstones leading to the front door were icy. There was salt in the little shed which was good. A few handfuls were thrown around to help with this. This is a good location to spend a week in Cheshire; within striking distance of Liverpool, Anthony Gormley statues at Crosby Beach, the shopping at Chester, Manchester and the tranquility of the wonderful Peak District. Not far from the M6 you can cover a lot of ground from here ... or you can sit and enjoy the farm.

We had a wonderful holiday at Tatton. The cottage was comfortable and well appointed. It is situated near the farm and it was lovely to look out at the animals in the fields. The mansion and gardens are five minutes walk away which is very convenient. The gardens are lovely and we were lucky to have good weather to see them. Every effort was made to guide us there and we had no problem finding the cottage. Everyone at Tatton was helpful and kind. Best of all, we had a free pass to go everywhere. Tatton is also near many other gardens. For example, we visited Chatsworth for the day. I would recommend the cottage for a wonderful holiday. Tatton is near Manchester airport so we were aware of planes passing overhead but they were not loud enough to bother us and they do not fly at night.

This holiday was one of the best we have had.. It was lovely to stay in Tatton Park, and to be able to look out on the fields and the animals every morning. Tatton is within reach of a number of famous gardens, and we went as far as Chatsworth over the Peak District. The Park and its surroundings are very relaxing. The cottage has everything required, we were very comfortable.

the apartment was really pretty and clean and ideal location as short walk to the tatton park farm and the house, only concern was the instructions to find the house could have been clearer, but we eventually sorted it........ but really lovely break, and free access to tatton park so you could come and go and didn't have to do it all in one go.

Imagine staying on a farm where you are well way from traffic sounds and the worst you have to deal with is some sheep bleating or ducks quacking. Cottage #2 is tucked away off the Ashley Road behind two security gates in a lovely farm setting. The farm is a public attraction which can get busy so take care when driving through. The approach to the cottage is from the rear where there is a wide gravel are for parking cars. It's is shared with the other cottage. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. The front room had a log fire and radiators which warmed the cottage well. The kitchen was good enough and functional. Up the steep stairs there are three bedrooms. A queen, twin single and another single. The beds were firm and comfortable. Complimentary access to the farm is provided and it is well worth a visit. Agreed with other post. Mobile signal is poor here. I bought Internet access device and only managed to get signal from upstairs close to a window or downstairs close to same. It's the price of being out in the country and in a well built brick cottage I am afraid. It wasn't a problem for me. I have to say that during our stay we had some issues with the hot water boiler and central heating which took a while to fix. The management were superb and provided us with options to stay elsewhere which we declined because we were happy where we were. The heating and hot water were fixed ASAP and I was extremely happy with the Tatton Park teams efforts (especially Graham) in dealing with the issues. Will definitely return. Great place to stay.

This is our second trip to Tatton Park. We stay in Cheshire to link up with family in Manchester and Dairy Cottage makes the perfect venue. The staff at the park are very friendly and made us feel welcome. We were given an admission pass to the various attractions on the park and can wander freely in the parkland, which is beautiful. This year we booked both Dairy Cottage 1 and 2 to accommodate our extended family.

Lovely countryside in unique Tatton Park. Everyone should be aware of the proximity of Manchester airport. Well furnished... living room furniture a little tired. Irritatingly, towels are not provided. What do people who travel from (say) the USa who do not have relatives living close do?

Excellent location, good bedrooms, well appointed kitchen. We found no internet access inside the cottage a real problem when here for a week. We would sit down by the gate on a hay bale with our laptop, when we could receive a signal!. (Just a nuisance when so far from home and also wanting to organise outings, bookings, opening times, prices and other travel etc). We simply assumed this facility would be available. Cell phone coverage is poor though upstairs in the cottage we were sometimes successful. The cottage is roomy. Walls are dirty and marked and some areas not that clean, I hated the mould growing through the drawer of the washing machine which I gave a jolly good clean as I did the kitchen walls around the rubbish area-the cottage will need good upkeep to last the distance. It's a treasure worth maintaining.
