We had a fantastic week at Eller Riggs.. Loretta was the perfect host and recommended some fantastic places to visit when she called to speak with us. Black Combe is definitely worth the climb for a 360 degree view of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The cottage was very cosy, comfortable and welcoming. It had everything we needed. The only slight disappointment was the shower cubicle. The shower itself was fantastic with hot and powerful water. However, the grout was grubby and could do with a little clean. It's a minor point and it didn't detract from our enjoyment. We would definitely recommend a visit.

This was a lovely cottage to stay in for a week.. Comfy beds, well equipped kitchen and the most fantastic shower! Our view every morning was stunning, over looking fields of sheep and lambs. Perfect location for peace and quiet and only a short drive to Ulverston with all its shops and places to eat. We hope to return very soon!!

Great location, hospitable owners, amazing cottage.. But why do they ask to leave boots outside? Wet boots makes fo an awful day hiking. I suggest that the owners reconsider this policy.

We have just returned from spending a week at Eller Riggs Cottage.. The property itself was beautifully presented and had everything we needed. The bottle of wine, milk and tea and coffee were very much appreciated. There were plenty of books, games and videos on hand and lots of leaflets suggesting days out. The property is situated about a mile and a half outside Ulverston which had a good range of shops, cafes and pubs. We visited Barrow, Coniston and Grange and all were a short drive away. We had a lovely seven days relaxation enjoying the cottage inside and the beautiful views outside. Brilliant!

Wonderful stay in the perfect Lakeland setting.. Clean tidy and well equipped. Quiet spot with beautiful views morning and night. Great location for walks and just a few mins to Ulverston. Spacious and well laid out. My children had a great time and thought the cottage was just perfect. 10/10 from us, Thank you!

All we can say about this cottage is excellent! The peace and quiet was very nice; the people that own the cottage are very nice, and friendly. Ulverston is a very nice place to visit. There are so many pubs and the cottage had everything that you could possibly need, and the walk in shower was amazing. This is a must for people to visit.

This is a great place to stay, it has a good mixture of modern and traditional. The owners have giving it a lot of thought with all the little extras in the cottage and even left a nice bottle of wine. The owners are very nice people that respect your privacy but are all ways happy to help if they are needed. Highly recommend this cottage to anyone. Thank you for our stay

This was our third stay at Eller Riggs and I really cannot talk highly enough of the cottage. Everything is just excellent and I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.
September 2014
The location is beautiful and relaxing, the cottage really thoughtfully and pleasantly laid out for the comfort of the guests. You get the usual mix of a rustic location with the modern conveniences of a walk in shower, dishwasher and induction hob if you like these conveniences. For those who want to escape the hub bub of people and noise this is lovely quiet spot partly also because we couldn't get any phone reception although discovered there is wifi on our last day when we eventually got round to reading the helpful info book provided! We found the owners exceptionally considerate and welcoming without getting in the way. I've already re-booked for the same time next year.

The cottage was superb, everything about it was spot on. Very nice open space and brilliant for relaxing. The Cumbrian way passes right next to the cottage, and the walks are lovely. Underfloor heating was a joy, and the whole place had a very nice feel and vibe about it. Would go again next week if I could. The owners were very nice and friendly.

We really enjoyed our stay here in March. the views are beautiful and it was a real relaxing haven for us. be aware that the cottage is up quite high and access is by very narrow country roads, so driving is essential unless you are keen walkers, the cottage is right beside the cumbrian way, very enjoyable to walk. Ulverston town is not far and has some lovely pubs and restaurants. the owners of this cottage were attentive, chatty, friendly and asked if there was anything they could do to improve the cottage. they left us a very good bottle of red wine, which added to the relaxing holiday we needed.

What can I say, lovely holiday in a lovely cottage, need I say more? This holiday was booked for a first fathers day present for my husband from me and our 10 month old son, we love the lakes and all it has to offer so having such a lovely cottage to stay in was important to me, and that is what we got. Perfect.

This was a really lovely cottage, with excellent furnishings and lots of great little extras. The only thing to note is that the second bedroom is at the top of a steep spiral staircase and is open-plan (i.e. with no door)- so this may not be ideal for people with young children or those requiring more privacy. Otherwise, strongly recommended.
