We booked this cottage to get away for a New Year break. It was cosy, and had all the space we needed for 7 of us. We had 8 year old twins and Clara and her family couldn't have made us any more welcome. They are delightful. We felt like part of the family. Lovely surrounding towns worth a visit. We were encouraged to visit the animals on the farm. We will definitely be back.

Nice rural location.. Friendly owner and great area for walking as very little traffic. Good access to Hadrian's Wall and other Roman sites. Can't really fault it. This was my second experience with Sykes Cottages and again a very pleasant experience.

I cannot believe Sykes checked this cottage before putting it on their website.. Besides being cold and uncomfortable the flooring in the Sitting room was disgusting, filthy and torn like they had had some old dogs staying in there. No radio, no microwave. Not even a coffee table to put your cup on in the Sitting room. Which was open to the kitchen/diner making it very cold. Also where the cottage was situated was horrible. Besides the long single cart track from the main road, we then had the added difficulty of being led through the barnyards and into a field to where we parked the car beside a shed. Couldn`t wait to get out of there. Stayed the one night and were gone the next day. So very disappointed wasting our weeks holiday. Wouldn`t trust Sykes again.
