We all had a brilliant holiday.. The cottage was spotless and the owners made us feel really safe on arrival. The cottage is bigger than the photos make out and nicer too (not that the photos aren't nice! The real thing is just better!). Lovely walks just outside the door and a big garden for the kids. Would stay again and recommend it everyone. First time in North Wales, such a beautiful place. Would recommend getting a day canal boat over the Aqueduct and an evening meal at The Sun Inn Trevor.

Great cottage, with every amenity you could ask for.. Good location for visiting North Wales. The owners, Mike and Deb went out of their way to give advice on things to do, places to visit and good pubs and restaurants for evening meals. They even made a cake for our arrival. Great hosts. We stayed for four nights and would certainly recommend this cottage.

Douglas Cottage was perfect for our Easter break.. There was 4 adults & 3 children - plenty of room for us all. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. The hot tub was a nice extra & was used a lot. The homemade cake was a nice touch & was enjoyed by all. Location was great for what we wanted, would definitely recommend & hope to return ourselves. Sky TV would be a great bonus & also a bbq although we wouldn’t have expected to need one in April.

This really is a beautiful cottage set in grounds adjacent to Douglas House. In the dark, on foot with no phone signal, it's not the easiest place to find but when you do it is fabulous. Designed and decorated to be a modern family cottage, it is very clean and nicely furnished, well set out and able to sleep 7 in 3 rooms. We loved this place, one of the nicest places we have stayed and the log burner made it really homely.

We booked this cottage at the very last minute.. We've used Sykes in the past and my husband booked a "lodge" through a different site that was not on trip advisor. The lodge turned out to be a filthy caravan which we had to stay in one night as it was after 5 on Sat 13th Oct. The speedy and helpful response we received from Sykes on Sun 14th Oct was very good and a relief at a very stressful time. Thank you. Gillian Davis

For a short (4 night) cycling break, the cottage was close to a large number of possible trail and off-road circuits many of which could be reached without the need to transport bikes by car.. Good bike storage and an owner next door who was also a mountain bike cyclist and therefore able to give us a number of ride suggestions.

Just had a weekend away at Douglas Cottage Penycae and really enjoyed it. Excellent accommodation with no complaints whatsoever. Very spacious with plenty of room for all seven of us, both inside and out. Lovely patio to sit and enjoy the surroundings if you are as lucky with the weather as we were. Very quiet and relaxing. Deb & Mike, the hosts were very obliging and nothing was too much trouble. Can definitely recommend a stay here if you like a home from home experience.

The information and pictures of the cottage could have been more extensive as we didn't appreciate just how lovely it was.. . Also the area was so full of beautiful and interesting places. Chester zoo was not far either.

We had a great welcome, the Cottage was very comfortable for our party of four, three of which were disabled. Plenty of car park spaces, the Cottage would accommodate up to seven people comfortably. There was not a thing we did not like about our holiday, everything was perfect.
