We all had a brilliant holiday.. The cottage was spotless and the owners made us feel really safe on arrival. The cottage is bigger than the photos make out and nicer too (not that the photos aren't nice! The real thing is just better!). Lovely walks just outside the door and a big garden for the kids. Would stay again and recommend it everyone. First time in North Wales, such a beautiful place. Would recommend getting a day canal boat over the Aqueduct and an evening meal at The Sun Inn Trevor.

Peaceful and tranquil location.. Ideal for a relaxing break. Owners on hand with any help or local information required.
Great cottage, with every amenity you could ask for.. Good location for visiting North Wales. The owners, Mike and Deb went out of their way to give advice on things to do, places to visit and good pubs and restaurants for evening meals. They even made a cake for our arrival. Great hosts. We stayed for four nights and would certainly recommend this cottage.
Douglas Cottage was perfect for our Easter break.. There was 4 adults & 3 children - plenty of room for us all. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed.
The hot tub was a nice extra & was used a lot.
The homemade cake was a nice touch & was enjoyed by all.
Location was great for what we wanted, would definitely recommend & hope to return ourselves.
Sky TV would be a great bonus & also a bbq although we wouldn’t have expected to need one in April.
This really is a beautiful cottage set in grounds adjacent to Douglas House.
In the dark, on foot with no phone signal, it's not the easiest place to find but when you do it is fabulous. Designed and decorated to be a modern family cottage, it is very clean and nicely furnished, well set out and able to sleep 7 in 3 rooms.
We loved this place, one of the nicest places we have stayed and the log burner made it really homely.
Cottage was fantastic so large with everything we needed and the onsite owners so helpful
We booked this cottage at the very last minute.. We've used Sykes in the past and my husband booked a "lodge" through a different site that was not on trip advisor. The lodge turned out to be a filthy caravan which we had to stay in one night as it was after 5 on Sat 13th Oct.
The speedy and helpful response we received from Sykes on Sun 14th Oct was very good and a relief at a very stressful time.
Great cottage.. Very nicely furnished. Clean, comfortable, warm and spacious. The owner was friendly and helped us out, including providing a lovely cake and pint of fresh milk to help us settle in.
For a short (4 night) cycling break, the cottage was close to a large number of possible trail and off-road circuits many of which could be reached without the need to transport bikes by car.. Good bike storage and an owner next door who was also a mountain bike cyclist and therefore able to give us a number of ride suggestions.
Douglas cottage was very comfortable and spacious with a sizable garden and comfortable garden furniture where we could enjoy the afternoon and early evening sushine.. The cottage is well furnished with many extras to make it feel like a home from home.
It is well situated with many place to visit within easy reach by car.
Just had a weekend away at Douglas Cottage Penycae and really enjoyed it. Excellent accommodation with no complaints whatsoever. Very spacious with plenty of room for all seven of us, both inside and out. Lovely patio to sit and enjoy the surroundings if you are as lucky with the weather as we were. Very quiet and relaxing. Deb & Mike, the hosts were very obliging and nothing was too much trouble. Can definitely recommend a stay here if you like a home from home experience.
Booked cottage due to its location for a wedding we attended nearby.. Cottage we perfect for our needs, clean and comfortable. Bathrooms with every bedroom. Owners very kind and friendly. Wouldn’t hesitate to book here again.
We had a fantastic stay, we were greeted by a beautiful cake and the owners went out of their way to accommodate our needs.. The cottage was finished to a very high specification and is bigger than it looks!
Lovely holiday rental in a beautiful area. Good standard property, lovely friendly hosts, well set up. Lovely fresh Victoria sandwich sponge on arrival. Well recommended. Would definitely use again.
High standard accomodation at a reasonable price
A beautifully presented cottage and very welcoming owners..
The information and pictures of the cottage could have been more extensive as we didn't appreciate just how lovely it was.. .
Also the area was so full of beautiful and interesting places. Chester zoo was not far either.
Very generous welcome from owners... good location for accessing tourist/leisure activities. Douglas Cottage is an exquisite home from home.
We had a great welcome, the Cottage was very comfortable for our party of four, three of which were disabled. Plenty of car park spaces, the Cottage would accommodate up to seven people comfortably. There was not a thing we did not like about our holiday, everything was perfect.
