We had a lovely week, the villa is really well equipped and clean and the garden is gorgeous! The issue for us was the lack of wi fi, coupled with no phone signal at all, most of the week you couldn't access the internet, and even when you could it froze. I understand it's not an issue for everyone but we had a 15 and 12 year old with us and I wouldn't have booked this property had I known. In the welcome information this issue is raised, but it would be helpful to know on booking. I did see the village is maybe getting better connected so this may change! That aside, it's a beautiful place, Ann was really helpful and we enjoyed our stay in this fabulous part of Wales.

Lovely cottage in a quiet location.. Clean and comfortable with good facilities. The garden with the stream is a relaxing place to sit in the sun. A good base for exploring the fantastic Ceridigion coastline and countryside, loads of great beaches in easy reach. Some people have complained about the wifi but no mobile signal and weak wifi meant our boys couldn't spend all day streaming netflix or youtube so it's a good thing. It's fine for twitter and emails etc.

Derwen Villa should be an aspiration for others to follow, from the owner who was the first ever to supply information and advice regarding the property before our stay, to the personal touches the property offered and superb accommodation.. There was nothing we lacked in the property and we have always when staying in holiday property taken various items for use in the kitchen, but on this occasion it was totally unnecessary when all the kitchen equipment was exemplary. The furnishing and decoration would easily allow any visitor to imagine this was a permanent home of someone who clearly takes a pride in their property and not a holiday rental. I highly recommend Derwen Villa and thank the owner for taking a personal interest in the comfort and enjoyment of the guests who stay in this property and in this beautiful part of Wales.

Derwen Villa is in a lovely quiet location and met the entire families needs (my 2 sons, my daughter, daughter in law and 9 month old grandson).. It is really comfortable and has all the amenities we needed. Although in a quiet location, it is only 6 miles from both Newquay and Aberaeron and around 5 miles from the sandy beach of Cei Bach. The pub in the village (Gilfach Inn) is just a 5 minute walk and is very welcoming and if you have the weather as we did, it's a lovely quiet sun trap. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family.

Everything! Derwen Villa was lovely; cosy but spacious, extremely comfortable, very clean and really well equipped. Could have stayed forever! The whole family loved it and if we visit this part of Wales again would have no hesitation in booking the cottage again. The only down side, if there has to be one, is the lack of public footpaths close by but everything else about the cottage and surrounding area was great. We stayed for a week and found plenty of places to visit from Cardigan to Aberystwyth. Will certainly look to book through Sykes Holiday Cottages again in future.

We were disappointed that the garden was not completely secure for our medium sized dog, it was mentioned in the welcome folder but found more escape routes than mentioned! Dog had to be kept on the leas all the time. The house is very well equipped with everything you needed. Good position as easy to get to most places.

The only negative comment I have is that WiFi was not intermittent as stated by the owner as part of the written instructions when we arrived.. We did not have it at all during our stay two week stay. That said, everything else was absolutely perfect for a relaxing holiday we had a wonderful time and highly recommend this house.

Wi-Fi should not be advertised as available at this property.. It does not work, cannot be used and therefore we booked a property that we would not have chosen otherwise.

The cottage was like staying at your granny's house, very old fashioned.. It was very cluttered untidy and not clean. Far too many personal items for a holiday let. Both house and garden needs some TLC. The patio needed a good sweep and the garden was very overgrown. The cottage is situated in a village where there is nothing to do. Was especially disappointed there were no local dog walks from the door step. The internet signal was poor or non existent, and there is no mobile phone signal so keeping in touch is difficult. Would definitely not return to this property!! :-(

An excellent Cottage, there was nothing we could think of that was not included.. It catered for three generations. A beautiful rear garden which was a haven of wild life. We intend to revisit in the future.

This was our second time visiting Derwen Villa and we loved it just as much as our first visit.. It really has become our favourite home from home, with absolutely everything you are ever likely to need. The roaring log fire is such a treat after chilly Easter walks on the beach and the huge farmhouse kitchen is filled with everything we needed to make family meals after days out exploring the seasIde town of New Quay and the beautiful harbour town of Aberaeron. Belle, our Labrador, loves it too! The large secure garden is just perfect for her. We plan to return again later in the year. Would highly recommend.

Facilities were great but had a hard time getting a couple of the burners on the stove to work.. ... also hairdryer didn’t work very well at higher speeds

The cottage was warm and we loved the bath and king sized bed.. However the kitchen knives were all blunt and this was annoying as we prepare our own food.

We loved the cottage and felt really comfortable in it.. Shame the weather wasn't good enough to spend much time in it but it was October when we stayed!

We liked the beautiful garden. This is a lovely property, a home from home. Everything you could want was in the cottage.

Derwen Villa is the perfect place for a bigger family with 3-4 children. Everything you need is present along with toys and books for children of all ages. Even the DVD and CD collection in the living room was great. There was a fabulous garden to enjoy and it was a perfect location for day trips.

Everything at Derwen Villa was excellent, also the garden was safe for our dog. It was very relaxing sitting in the garden and listening to the birds. We enjoyed every minute of the holiday from start to finish and hope to book again later this year.

It was a perfect location for our party. We differed in age from 70 to 4 but everyone was happy. The children could play safely in the garden and there were beaches close by. The house was very well appointed with everything you could possibly need or wish for. I certainly hope we will be able to go again. I liked the house, the garden, the location and the village.

Derwen Villa is a lovely home from home, finished to a high standard and very well equipped and only a short Drive from the lovely beach at New Quay. We traveled with 3 young boys who loved the Childrens room (and toys) and really enjoyed the big garden and of course the stream at the end of the garden. The village is very rural and wandering around the lanes close to the village made for a very relaxing weekend.
