This beautiful house has every possible amenity that you could possibly require for a very relaxing holiday . Derwen Haidd has all the features needed for a very comfortable stay in a lovely quiet village. We were advised not to use the hot tub on the first evening of our stay as the owners very sensibly empty it between guests due to covid. However, the next day it was heated to the needs of anyone for a very relaxing hour in the with a glass of wine in the evening sun. We had a lovely surprise when going down to the extremely large basement only to find darts and a pool table. Great for families! The high quality of furnishings and standard of cleaning is to be applauded. Can't wait to visit again.

On arriving at the property (which was extremely hard to find a good sat nav is absolutely essential). On the 27th December at 5pm to find the owner and her children still cleaning the house. We were told the hot tub would be hot by the following morning. It wasnt and took 36 hours to only get to 27 degrees (should reach minimum of 38). This didnt get hot the whole week we stayed. Continually having to top up manually is not good. The television aerial was also broken (forget using sky as it doesnt work AT ALL despite this being advertised. This didnt bother us at all BUT i would have expected basic tv channels of which there were none. This was patched up the day after by the owner who assured us we would be offered a partial refund on leaving. On the 3rd night of staying with my daughter son in law and 6 week old baby we had a 4 hour power cut which according to the electric provider who arrived late at night to be told the owners had been told that running 3 houses off the same grid is not enough. Nothing had been done about this!!! There were no candles available and only 1 small torch with no power and no batteries!! Thankgod our phones were charged for light. The tea we were cooking was ruined and binned!! This was fixed by the provider the morning after and all 3 properties are now on separate grids. The property is nice and spacious BUT beware there is KNOWHERE to walk especially with a pram!! Roads are narrow with no verge at all. Nearest pub is 8.5miles away and there is nowhere to walk to it. Nearest shops are in Aberystwyth a good 20 minute drive away. Paying £1200 for a week us extorniate. Especially given the house next door (Dyfenn Haidd rented for £600 for the same time!!) Which is a 6 bed home also owned by the same people. Needless to say despite asking on numerous occasions for a partial refund for all the issues we have received nothing. We wont return.
