The Roman Road, which passes above Rowen, runs close to many sites of historical interest including the Maen-y-Bardd, a megalithic burial chamber that dates back to 3,500BC. There are more standing stones to be found at Bwlch y Ddeufaen, which have been dated back as far as 2,000BC. Nearby Conwy has been designated a World Heritage Site in recognition of its magnificent architecture, imposing castle and near-complete Roman walls. In addition, there is a fishing harbour and one of the best preserved medieval town houses in the country, Plas Mawr. As well as a variety of National Trust properties, there are also stunning beaches where you can enjoy a variety of water sports, the internationally acclaimed Bodnant Gardens, Victorian Llandudno and the village of Betws-y-Coed.

The cottage stay was great and we would definitely come again.. The only very minor point that could be improved is that there were six of us and only four forks, a few extra bits and bobs in the kitchen would be useful. But the cottage otherwise was perfect and Nansi, Pete and everyone were fantastic. They helped us so much when we had trouble with our car and were so friendly, responsive and wonderful. It was a pleasure to stay on the farm :)

We had a wonderful week in North Wales.. The area is stunning and the cottage is ideally located to visit many of the towns and beaches alike. The property is so close to being perfect, it’s spacious, rural, the owners are helpful and friendly but the place just needs a really good clean and a bit of modernisation. The beds were comfortable and there were such thoughtful touches like hand soap, toilet roll and washing up liquid but it wasn’t clean enough and things like the high chair was so old and stained that we didn’t feel comfortable using it. Ever so close to perfect!

Lovely cottage in beautiful area.. We had the upstairs flat. Facilities excellent. Short of nothing. Play area for children. Paddock for the dogs. Dog friendly beach very near. Mr Marshall there if needed but never intrusive. We were 4 adults including 2 OAPs, 2 children and two dogs. Something for all of us. Highly recommended. Would certainly consider going again. Might choose downstairs just to have two toilets.

Fabulous place and an ideal remote location plus all the tourist spots are easily assessable.. Our only gripe was that we had the top floor of the conversion and a tiny patio, those on the ground floor had a very large patio and consequently the sun and were able to sit outside to enjoy it. It wouldn’t take a lot to enlarge our patio into the grass area and move the large unused garden table and chairs into the sun. Just a thought.

The cottage was in a lovely remote location set in stunning countryside.. It was very well equipped, clean & comfortable. The shower was backing up when used & we contacted the owner who came round the next day & rectified the problem. He also contacted me directly while on route to say the fridge had been reported as not working properly and that he had put another fridge in ready for us to use in the meantime. Very happy with our holiday, found lots of lovely places to eat. Highly recommended

The accommodation was spacious and fully equiped from a top for that opened bottle of wine to a washer dryer! you name it, they had it lol! Garden furniture to sit at and enjoy the idyllic setting and Ideally placed as Llandudno, Conway, Betwsy Coed, Great Orm and a great many beaches etc are only a short distance away There are plenty of shops, pubs, cafes etc in Conwy and a beautiful harbour where you can relax and enjoy Don't miss a walk around the castle and wall where the views are spectacular There are plenty of places to walk your dog, especially to the local pub which serves great food and is only a 20 minute walk away An amazing time was had by my family of 4 adults and our 1 year old Grandaughter Our fridge broke down and Pete the owner went out and got us a new one the very next day offering his own fridge for our items You can watch children play from your window, patio or sit in the park There are swings (including baby) climbing frames, slides etc If you like to be out in the countryside this is certainly for you WE LOVED IT and would certainly recommend

The place was lovely, really cosy, comfy beds and incredible views. Pet friendly too so we could take our doggies with us. The house was very clean too, however, only thing I would say is there needs to be a bit more attention to detail...lots of cobwebs, ceiling lamps need cleaning as dead flies collecting in them and dusty skirting boards and doors in the bathroom. Need some more baking trays for the oven as only one.

Great location in the heart of the Welsh countryside yet close to Conwy. We particularly liked the big kitchen which was well suited to a large family. Outside there was a fenced off area for our dog and an area for dining outside.

Had the opportunity to stay here in the most wonderful week of the year. Loved the solitude, all I could hear were the sheep and the buzzards, pure bliss. Spacious accommodation with all the facilities you could ever need and I could even bring my border collie with me. This cottage lies in a stunning valley off a quiet rural road and is therefore fabulous if you want to really get away from the rat race. Great as a touring base to easily cover North and central Wales. Had the pleasure in meeting and chatting to the owners who were friendly and helpful. In short I really enjoyed my stay. February 2013
Fabuluously light and spacious accomodation with the right amount of everything we needed. Convenient to have towels included in the rent. The cottage is situated in the lovely countryside of the Conwy valley with walking and road biking from the door. Superbly convenient for local Mountain biking opportunities and the trails at Llanrwst and Penmachno. Close to Conwy for necessities and the Castle etc. Weather was glorious, good to see the blue skies of North Wales.

The cottage we stayed in was very clean and really nicely furnished. It accommodated 6 people but there was only 2 of us so we had ample space. The reason we chose the cottage was because it allowed us to take our dog. The gardens and land at the property were well maintained. The owner was friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the week and were lucky enough to have sunshine throughout.
Mrs Williams
September 2011
The area was lovely and the cottage was conveniently situated for getting around to different areas, whilst being far enough away from the hustle and bustle. Very peaceful and private and great also, for the dogs. It was a very nice cottage, very spacious. We had a lovely holiday (apart from the weather)!

The cottage was in a beautiful location and of an excellent standard. Owners were very hospitable but also considerate and left us alone. The interior of the cottage was lovely, very well decorated and we didn't need to ask for anything. We would definately stay here again and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.

Peaceful location but not too far away from heart of Snowdonia National Forest the coast. Barbecue facilities were available which was good as the weather was exceptional. Entertainment provided e.g. DVD's if weather hadn't been the best. Our 6 month old daughter particularly enjoyed her daily visit to see the horse!!

February 2007
The holiday was perfect, the accommodation could not have been more perfect. There was everything we needed and more. Our holiday party consisted of O.A.Ps, adults, teenagers, pre-school children and 2 dogs, but it had everything we all needed. We felt like we were in the middle of nowhere but we could be in the middle of town and in easy reach of all amenities within minutes, we can't tell you how good it was. We will definitely book again, as will friends and family. Absolutely fabulous!

The holiday was a lovely relaxing time. The cottage was of a very high standard. Everything you could need was right there, kitchen very well stocked. The small farm which it was located on was very quaint. We fed the horses every day and had lovely walks. Lots to do around the area. Will be booking again and again.

August 2006
Perfect cottage, exactly as described in your brochure and more! We loved the 'central' location which allowed us to access the coast or the mountains within a short-ish drive, and yet be totally in the middle of the countryside. Plenty to do and see locally without using the car. Friendly locals, charming landlords. After being badly let down last year by the company we had been using for years, we are thrilled to have discovered Sykes cottages and will now return to you most willingly. Thank you!
