Holiday home A traditional, semi-detached property in the heart of Morpeth, this lovely house combines all the conveniences of modern living with the charm and character of a country cottage. There is a wood-burning stove in the sitting room, which is designed around an open-plan space with the dining area and a bright andwell-equipped airy kitchen. With two double and one twin bedded room, a bathroom and a shower room, this really is a versatile property that makes it ideal for families and friends alike. Outside space includes a small front garden and a rear courtyard with garden furniture. With so much to see and explore in the surrounding areas, this cottage is a perfect base from which to experience everything the region has to offer.
Area Morpeth is a beautiful little market town and is well placed to reach the countryside or the coast from its central location in the heart of Northumberland. The town has plenty to offer such as the ruins of a historic castle, parks, churches and an old chantry that houses a bagpipe museum. Further afield to the south lies the bustling city of Newcastle upon Tyne and northwards is the historic town of Alnwick with its castle and gardens, whilst over to the East, Druridge Bay has miles of glorious golden sands to be enjoyed by the whole family. Close by is the National Trust property of Wallington Hall and all around Morpeth there is good walking country with access to the Cheviot and the Simonside Hills, making this an ideal base for a holiday.
Region Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.
Amenities Gas central heating with woodburning stove in sitting room. Electric cooker, gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, TV with Freeview, DVD, CD player, books/games. Fuel, power & initial supply of wood for stove inc. in rent. Bed linen & towels inc. in rent. Cot, highchair & stairgate on request. Off road parking for 1 car (if smaller than a large 4x4). Small front garden, rear courtyard with furniture. One well-behaved dog welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shops & pubs 3 mins walk.
We have regularly booked cottages with Sykes cottages and always been happy with the property.. We felt that this property was substandard, the decor and furnishings were tired looking and were in need of refreshing and updating. The parking space at the property was very narrow to get into, anyone with a large 4x4 would not be able to get through the gates therefore would not be able park off road. With regards to the rental of this property we felt it was expensive. We have previously rented a property in Morpeth through Sykes Cottages, which was outstanding and over £100 cheaper.
We are sorry to give such poor feedback, but we feel that you need to check this property to see if it comes up to your standards for holiday lettings.
Lovely Cottage in perfect location to look around Morpeth.. The Kitchen was really a really good standard and well equipped. The beds are lovely and comfy.
The only thing I would say is that the living room furniture may need updated as they weren’t the comfiest to relax on. Think if they were updated it would make it a really comfy and cosy cottage.
If we ever visit Morpeth again we would look to stay here!
Only one small complaint, more of a suggestion for future guests.. Don,t park on the drive by the house. when the workman are working on the building, next door. We left our car there, to go into Newcastle by bus, and came back to find it covered in pieces of cement, and dust from the building work. These have had to be carefully cleaned off so as not to cause scratching and a repolish of the vehicle. Plus they start work at 8am,so anyone wanting a lie in may have a problem.Perhaps while the work is going on a word of warning would be helpfull, to future guests. Otherwise the cottage was fine, and we enjoyed our stay.
This was our second visit.. It is centrally located within Morpeth close to shops, restaurants, lovely walks and the bus station.Private parking is a bonus.Cottage is well presented with good heating for colder weather.Kitchen has everything you need should you choose to cook.
Already. Planning a third visit.
Had a lovel y stay at dacre cottage a great base for exploring.. Cosy and comfortable beds slept like a baby.very clean and would definitely return.
Our holiday was very enjoyable due to the lovely cottage central in Morpeth very easy to find But ii know Morpeth as my Dad was born there.. Kitchen was great every thing u could want . Wood burner was very nice at night and we got more logs from Home bargains in bus station square next to Next.
Plenty to do around . Bake house cafe up aley opp Alans very well worth a visit or two. I love Northumberland now live in Yorkshire but this still home.
Will be back for a visit to cottage if Jim has a slot next yeaqr
Thank u for letting us have your lovely cottage Dorothy and Jim x
Dacre Cottage was extremely comfortable with excellent facilities and ideal location.. The parking facility was an added bonus. Will go again.
Exellent cottage very comfy beds great location would go back next year hopefully
An excellently appointed cottage, very comfortable.. The cottage is well positioned in the middle of Morpeth which is a lovely town. We visited many of the local attractions such as the beaches, Cragside and Holy Island. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage and the area.
The accommodation was excellent but unfortunately there was a step from the kitchen and a step in the shower/toilet room.. I book the accommodation as it listed ground floor bed room and shower/toilet room as I was accompanied by by 95 year old aunt who at her home is fully independent but has mobility problem and is registered blind.
Saying that she did enjoy her stay with care and flexibility on our part.as did I.
It was a perfect holiday cottage, very warm and cosy, with all amenities one could wish for.. Safe, with outdoor street lighting throughout the night, and gated yard to park the car. Located in town, next to the bus station and shops and lovely walks with my two little dogs in the nearby riverside park, through the old historic town of Morpeth. Located within easy distance of the Northumberland coast for frequent trips to the seaside and walks on the beach. Importantly for me, being on my own, I wasn't isolated. Thank you.
Perfect location .. Cottage had everything we could possibly need. spacious, warm and welcoming and much better than staying in a hotel! Would definitely stay again!Thank you
Wonderful place , perfectly situated and would book again without hesitation, IF it gets Wi-Fi , the cloud service it offers is a waste of time, it needs a house WiFi, BT modem is already there, come on make the place perfect and get proper Wi-Fi..
A wonderful cottage really close to the shops, we had a wonderful time relaxing there and would like to return for another holiday.. The owners are friendly and really helpful.
Great central location for amenities and touring the area..
Ideal situation for exploring Northumberland.. Great for boat trip to Farne Is to see seabirds. Coastal route nth to see the many castles.Visit to Beamish outdoor museum another highlight. Delightful cottage.
The cottage is very well sitstuated very clean lovely big kitchen great location would definitely book again
Love Dacre Cottage, been three years running. It's got all you need and is close to town and country. We take our dog and there are some great walks around.
We enjoy everything about our stay and would recommend this cottage to everyone.
The cottage was in the centre of Morpeth with all the facilities on hand and good pubs serving good food with friendly service everywhere.
Another comfortable holiday at Dacre!
Really central for the town of Morpeth, with private parking.
Spacious, clean and tidy. Good base for exploring the local area.
The cottage was adorable and so central . It is well worth a stay and Morpeth is a lovely town with all that you need -lovely shops, parks, places to eat and walks down by the river and in the bluebell woods. I would recommend the cottage and the location to anyone and we will be going back.
I can't rate my stay highly enough, it was pretty much perfect. Everything you could possibly need was in the Cottage. It is perfectly situated in the centre of Morpeth within walking distance of everything.
The service provided by Sykes Holiday Cottages and also the owners was second to none, friendly, efficient and simple.
I highly recommend it and would stay there again without a second thought.
Comfortable, very clean with everything on the doorstep. Could not fault anything about this accommodation. We would recommend .
This property was perfect for us, everything we needed was supplied.
The cottage was first class, everything in it to make our stay very enjoyable. We had meals out every night at the local restaurants all within walking distance of the cottage. The bus depot and train station were also very handy
Compact cottage with feeling of spaciousness due to bedrooms on both levels. Well fitted and easy to use kitchen. Off road parking very good for a town centre location - care needed on entry and exit with a larger car. Beds good but some bedroom furniture could be better. "Garden" mostly paved patio - plenty dog walking in nearby streets, parks and riverside walks. Sun trap to rear of property. Gates should prevent small children running out onto roads. Bathroom good but downstairs shower has step up and entry may be awkward for less able. Roof windows need closing when raining. Homely feeling in a busy country town of character which is a good centre for visiting the region. No major disadvantages.
It was one of the nicest properties I have stayed in and I have stayed in a lot. It was close to all amenities and Morpeth itself is a lovely place and the people are all very friendly. It is ideal for touring the North East.
Everything in the cottage was easy to use and guided notes for the TV and such. It was warm, comfortable and in a quiet central spot.
This is the second time we have stayed in this cottage. We love it.
This lovely well kept cottage is a home from home. There was everything we needed. The varied good shops nearby were just what the teenagers wanted. The local walks, in all directions, were great for the rest of us. We did not miss having our cars at all!
As we had no transport we needed somewhere near the train and bus station and shops near by and this cottage gave us everything we needed.Lovely warm place with log burner for those chilly evenings and though it was in the middle of town it was very quiet in the cottage. The lady that owned the cottage was so nice, nothing was too much trouble.
It was a real home from home. Everything was well set out and spacious. The log fire was wonderful.
Great location and friendly owners. Perfect for visiting lots of attractions and then strolling out to one of the many very good restaurants and pubs. Highly recommended!
We were very close to all the shops and there was plenty for all tastes. There was even a bus station in close proximity. This would be ideal for exploring around the region.
Great location in heart of Morpeth, great to have on-site parking. Spacious accommodation.
As we had no transport the cottage was ideal for us, central to shops, bus station and train station. We couldn't have been closer. It was great for our requirements.
Great cottage in middle of town and so close to amenities. Makes a nice change being able to walk to the shops. Friendly owners and hassle free trip.
Shame the parking spot took up most of the outside enclosed space but we were able to still sit outside.
Close to everything, owners are just wonderful, will surely be back, and would reccomend this Cottage to anyone.
This cottage is in the middle of town with easy access to all amenities, and yet the cottage is also relaxing and comfortable with a complete away from home feel.
The cottage was in the most convenient spot. It was really good to have a car spot at the back. Morpeth is a wonderful little town. We will use the cottage again.
The cottage was right in the centre of Morpeth which was great for going out in the evening. We particularly liked Marabinis Italian restaurant which we would highly recommend. We would definitely book this cottage again.
We liked the position and condition of the house - perfect!
Absolutely fantastic property, ideal location within town, everything about the property and town were spot on. The owners of Dacre Cottage have gone above and beyond to make this holiday cottage like home.
We stayed over the Christmas and New Year period and had a lovely time, it was a fantastic place to spend the holidays, there is no where else in Morpeth like it. The location was perfect for the town, within easy walking distance of pubs, clubs, shops and restaurants and with excellent transport links being situated right next to the bus station. Excellent facilities meant I was able to host a Christmas dinner with ease and comfort. We would recommend this cottage to anyone, very much looking forward to another stay.
Very good value for money, well furnished and spacious.
Dacre Cottage was superbly located; at most a 30 minute car journey would take me to Newcastle, Durham, Hadrian's Wall etc. While having a convenient and peaceful base in Morpeth with all the shops and pubs I could have wanted within walking distance.
This is the second time we have stayed in this cottage. Once again it met all of our expectations and requirements.
A very welcoming cottage, centrally located in a lovely little town.
The central location of Dacre Cottage makes this an ideal venue even when the weather is not so good. It also makes it convenient for walking out to the local pubs and restaurants in the evening.
This was the 3rd year that we visited Dacre Cottage in Morpeth. We love the area and the cottage in particular.
We can thoroughly recommend Sykes Cottages for their excellent service and range of properties.
Perfect location, right in the centre of town. Good clean accomodation. The whole family loved our holiday here, wished we could have stayed longer.
The cottage was immaculate and the location was excellent.
The cottage was right in the centre of Morpeth so you could walk to the restaurants in the evening and the shops were on your doorstep. Dacre Cottage was very cosy and well furnished, we will book it again!
Good location in the centre of Morpeth, ideal to get out and about around Northumberland. The Cottage is extremely well planned with excellent use of the space and very comfortable to live in. We would highly recommend.
Central to Morpeth, shops, bars and restaurants.
Very comfortable and warm cottage in
a great location for covering Northumberland whilst being within walking distance of all the eating, drinking and shopping facilities of Morpeth. Very attentive owners to any queries or problems.
We really enjoyed our stay at Dacre Cottage. It's a very nice house and the location can not be matched! We are likely to stay here on a regular basis as we visit family nearby every few months. The cottage is exactly as represented on the listings, there are no surprises.
Cottage one of the best we've stayed in. Ideal location - just 2 or 3 minutes walk from the shops, yet so quiet and peaceful. Cottage was ideal for my disabled daughter as she didn't have to climb the stairs. We'll definitely return again in the future.
Accommodation ideally placed for our requirements.
This is the 2nd year that we have spent our holiday in Dacre Cottage and will definitely be booking it again next year.
Very well equipped cottage in superb location, but parking only possible for a very small car.
Excellently positioned cottage and very well maintained. Tastefully decorated and clean. Will definitely be coming back.
I love the North East. I loved Dacre cottage - if it were for sale I would buy it!!
Great location. Everywhere we visited was within 45 mins of the cottage.
Unable to fault cottage! Location superb for Newcastle, Morpeth and Northumberland.
A second visit to Dacre Cottage and yet again, a well placed, very comfortable home from home within good reach of all facilities. Good central point for touring Northumberland with a good restaurant, The Black Door, just a few minutes walk away.
Comfortable cottage right in the centre of Morpeth and convenient for shopping, bus station, eating places and a lovely park to walk the dog. Nice woodburning stove/ fire in front room, only downside to cottage is third converted bedroom downstairs.
We loved Morpeth and the friendliness of the people and everthing about this upmarket market town.
Also well positioned for Newcastle and the coast.
What a fabulous cottage in a brilliant location. Ideal base to get out an about in the North East, within easy reach of Alnwick and Newcastle. The cottage had everything you could wish for and more. A kitchen to die for with everything you could ever want in it, off road parking, close reach of all shops including Morrisons, bus station literally on your door step with great bus services to all around the area. Fabulous town centre, and you are in the very heart of it. I expected a small town but it really was much bigger than I expected and they are even building a brand new Marks and Spencer which will be open now. Very clean and tidy property and very spacious. Loved the loft bedrooms, but missed a shower up there. There is a bath but not even a hand shower which would have been useful. We have already booked again for next year and I can't wait to go again.
As we visit Northumberland every year to see various relatives in Bedlington we found the location of this cottage, in the beautiful market town of Morpeth, ideal.
The facilities were very good, particularly the downstairs bedroom and shower room for my elderly father.
Only 2 slight niggles, the cottage could do with a more comfortable armchair as my father has difficulty in getting in and out of chairs. Also the TV is not very good, the reception is bad at times and we could not get all the freeview channels and my father likes to spend time in the cottage watching the TV as he did not feel like going out every day.
We definately intend to book this cottage again next year.
The property was in a good, central location. Excellent for walking into town and for use of the local park.
An excellent base for touring Northumberland. Very well equipped and beautifully clean. The accommodation was spacious and very comfortable.
Lovely cottage. Very convenient location for both the town and the area.
The central location of the cottage in the lovely market town of Morpeth made this cottage a winner. The downstairs bedroom and shower room were also very handy. We would definitely stay here again.
We were very happy with Dacre Cottage.
Good location, and accommodation was very clean. Overall good holiday.
A lovely week spent in a beautiful cottage. Will highly recommend to friends and family.
What a fantastic cottage in a perfect location. There was everything we needed and more. We will be coming again!
The cottage was the perfect location to visit so many places Morpeth was a great area to stay in close to shops, pubs etc. The cottage was wonderful and I would highly recommend it to anyone planning to stay in the area.
Excellent short break

The cottage and its position in Morpeth. Morpeth itself.
The cottage was in a convenient position, a nice spacious cottage, with a good heating system mainly.
Very handy for anyone without a car.
Very central for shops in Morpeth. Great place to visit attractions in Northumberland. Not too far from anywhere.
Mr Mrs Robertson
The surrounding countryside is lovely and the central location of the cottage is ideal for access to shops and local services.
We had a great time staying in such a nice house in a convenient location. We found everything we needed.
Mr Mrs Preston
We had a short but very enjoyable stay. The property is well located for the many attractions in Northumberland, and is in the centre of Morpeth. Would heartily recommend it!
Excellent accommodation, and the owners were really helpful and friendly.
We were extremely impressed with the cottage. Its location was perfect for us, very central with regard to the fantastic Northumbrian countryside and the general location of the town. The owners of the cottage were very helpful, they gave us good information and directions, they also gave us the name of one of the best pubs my partner swears he has even be in! Best beer in Northumberland. In fact it was a perfect 4 days despite the weather, we all thoroughly enjoyed being in the cottage.
Location of property and excellent standard of kitchen facilities. Provision of high chair, cot and stair gates was very helpful.
The cottage was ideally located and was clean and well equipped with modern fixtures and fittings. The owners were very friendly and readily available for any help required. We had a lovely holiday.
