Total isolation , yet so close to all the great places this area has to offer . Total quiet at night just wildlife and the river . We spent four days here with our whippet , and we all loved it . Great walks literally on the doorstep, the valley is covered in a carpet like moss which gives the whole place a fantasy film kind of feeling ,combine this with the abundance of waterfalls and mountains ,well just don't forget a camera , The owners Sandra and Ben are super friendly and informative and the cottage is very modern and clean . We totally adored this place and can’t wait to return.

This has to be the perfect place to getaway from the rat race of life and get back to real life the cottage is around 3 miles down a very narrow road wide cars avoid it runs next to a small river that has small waterfalls here and there and makes for a lovely walk of which there are plenty also upon arrival we were greeted by Sandra and later Ben and i have to say they are the sort of people that you certainly remember due to the fact there so nice the cottage is lovely and clean and spacious there is a roof top terrace for afternoon G&Ts and room out front for a BBQ and if you love walks theres a 1000 acres to explore we will be making a return visit very highly recommend.

The cottage is wonderfully finished to provide great comfort with an authentic feel, without being in anyway over-fussy. The secluded location completes a romantic setting. The area is great for lots of stunning hill walks and is close enough for some stunning beaches and days out. The owners are a genuine and welcoming couple and have done so much to develop the whole property. We were instantly made to feel welcome and would thoroughly recommend this for anyone looking for a scenic quiet getaway in the countryside.

Location is Beautiful, virtually traffic free and very rural.. Excellent for escaping However, as I discovered not so easy when you do not have a car. Also, there were times when I could not access the internet. Need to be organized as even if you do have a car its a 20 min drive if you have forgotten anything. I love this location amazing outstanding walks and I just want to go back as a great escape. Sandra and Ben were helpful once they understood my predicament. My boyfriend loved the log burner kept us cozy I love the bath nice soak after a walk in the hills. My dog Alfie was so happy too,

The children and I stayed in this beautiful cottage, located near the little village of Llanbedr. We had a fantastic week staying in this cottage, which my children thought seemed magical. Especially as the cottage was located in an enchanted woodland surrounded by the beauty of nature. We had time to explore these local woodlands. This cottage is great for walkers, hikers and someone who wants to escape the rat race. So book this cottage if you fancy finding the inner Explorer in you. Enjoy the amazing mountains, woodlands, waterfalls and not forgetting the beautiful coastline... Oh an the miniature Italian village of Portmeirion, in Gwynedd My little Random Masters loved 'exploring the Enchanted forest and River Afon, Wales' I have to say the location is more beautiful when seeing it for real Anyway Baa Baa for now. I'm sure you'll love the sheep too

This was a perfect cottage for us as we wanted a very quiet location. The owners could not have been nicer and the facilities provided were great, plenty of logs and coal for the fire, a superb shower and the bed was very comfortable. The dogs liked lying in front of the woodburner when we had it lit but soon moved away to a cooler part of the lounge. If you aren't used to it, the roads are a little thin and winding but you soon get used. Wouldn't recommend the back road to Harlech though.

The owners were very welcoming pleasant and informative.. The location was as remote as described but that suited us to a tee. Every bit of the surrounding area was beautiful. The cottage was homely and had all you could need. Family holiday well enjoyed.

Was exactly the holiday we were looking for.. Remote walks right from the door. Sandra & Ben the owners are lovely and v helpful. As stated in details, no mob signal and internet intermittent which was ideal for us. Pleased to note a bridge has now been built so no need to navigate the ford which was fortunate as we only have a fiat 500! If u like remote and wonderful walks and scenery (with a couple of good pubs 3.5 miles away who do good food) then book it now!!

The cottage is set in a beautiful location with stunning scenery, with loads of peace and tranquillity.. The cottage is maintained to an excellent standard, with everything you might need being provided. Although the owners, Ben and Sandra, are only next door they did not intrude, but were always more than happy to help and offer advice when asked. If you want somewhere to escape and to recharge your batteries, then this is the place.

I had a lovely stay in Cwm Yr Afon Cottage in May along with my dog, the cottage is ideally placed for walking and exploring the area, tucked away yet easy to reach.. The area is very scenic, based on the edge of the Rhinogydd I didn't use my car all week as explored on foot, mainly into the hills around Rhinog Fawr and Rhinog Fach but walked one day into Harlech on the back lanes. The cottage itself is kitted out to a high standard and has everything you need for a comfortable stay, Sandra & Ben were very welcoming and on hand if you had any questions. There were no negatives, had a great stay and would recommend to anyone looking to explore this area.

Cottage was perfect, complete peace and quiet in a near deserted area but only a 10-15 mins from shops / restaurant etc, access to lovely walks and countryside literally on the doorstep, very comfortable and spacious accommodation for two and extremely friendly owners.. If looking for a quiet getaway and you enjoy the outdoors this cottage is perfect.

A wonderful cottage in an absolutely beautiful location. There was easy access to mountain walks (straight out the door) and it was just a short 10mins to the nearest beach, pub and shop. The owners are such friendly and hospitable people too.

A beautiful cottage in stunning surroundings. The owners were very welcoming and helpful, and the location of the cottage added to the whole experience. Our five year old son loved the adventure and can't wait to return. Although the cottage was nicely secluded it still gave easy access to Barmouth, Harlech, Shell Island and Nantcol Waterfalls to name but a few. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Looking at this cottage on the internet showed what looked like a fantastic holiday cottage! The photos do not do it justice!! The cottage is excellent, finished to a high standard and supremely comfortably. Sadly the weather was warm so there was no need to use the log burning stove (first time I've wished for cold weather on holiday which didn't involve skiing :-) But the joy of this cottage is its location. It is in a very remote location, and very secluded. Sandra and Ben were on holiday themselves while we were there so we really did have the place to ourselves. It was so quiet it was unbelievable. The surrounding countryside is superb, with walking from the door. It is well placed for Harlech, Snowdon, Barmouth etc, which can all be reached quite quickly by car. The only downside? Having to leave after a glorious relaxing week. Thanks Sandra and Ben for sharing this with us.

been meaning to do a review for some time on this one. The cottage offers all you need for a break of this type (secluded) plus more, namely the best bathroom in any rental cottage anywhere. Your hosts Ben and Sandra are always very willing to help with any thing and are genuine people. We promised to revisit and we will as soon as someone stops beating us to it. This is a special little place and we cannot wait to get back there again.

We were comfortable in the cottage very quickly and the owners could not have been more helpful or friendly. The outdoor areas were particularly good as they were safe environments for our young son to play in. The location of the cottage is stunning. Overall we were completely happy and would love to stay there again.

This is a fantastic place to come and relax and recharge your batteries. The cottage is really comfortable, very clean and now benefits from a lovely terrace Ben has put on the back which has views over the hills and is sheltered. You could drink your morning coffee there or have dinner. The photos do the place justice to some degree but there are no pictures of the bathroom - no need to worry. It has a great shower, big bath and all the other necessities and is new and really spotless. I said to some degree, because obviously you don't get the feeling of the place...calm, tranquil and wonderfully relaxing. There is no mobile connection (which can be a benefit!) but there is Internet. The surrounding area is fantastic for walkers or people who love the outdoors - woods that look like something out of The Hobbit, forests, lakes, hills, mountains and views over Snowdonia, the Rhinogs and the sea. You can go off into the mountains here or even to the sea very easily. You can even walk to Harlech from the cottage. Ben and Sandra are lovely. They are friendly, helpful and very kind and know the area like the back of their hand. I really recommend this place - it was one of our best holidays.

This cottage is something of a secret gateway to wild Wales, located on a 2000 acre sheep farm which stretches into the heart of the remote and rugged Rhinog country of southern Snowdonia. Great for walkers. Mountain lakes for trout fishers. The cottage is accessed across a river ford and stoney track but has been refurbished to a high standard by the friendly and helpful owners who live next door. Although remote, the pubs and shops of Harlech and Llanbedr are no more than 20 mins drive from the farm. Well worth a visit if you're a fit outdoor type.

This is our second stay and yet again had a wonderful time. It is lambing season and I had the delight of watching at close quarters a ewe give birth to twins. That was a fantastic experience for the non farmers/sheherds amongst us. We also climbed Snowdon up the Rangers path. Not easy but what an experience. The Rhinog mountains behind the property have some great walks aswell up to lakes and some fantastic views. The beaches are so clean and just the mountains and beach combo for us make it a great place to visit. The property is so comfortable with central heating and a wood burner. Well fitted out kitchen with plenty of plates, cooking dishes etc. The owners Ben and Sandra are either discreetly in the back ground if thats what you want, or really pleasant friendly people when you do meet with them. Nothing is too much trouble. The location if you want to walk and take in the wildlife and scenery is perfect. We will be visiting again I hope later this year.
