Situated at the mouth of the River Esk, Whitby is an ancient fishing port steeped in history. The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

We had a lovely stay at Curlew Cottage and would definitely stay again.. Perfectly situated near to amenities yet just tucked away from any hustle and bustle. There is a pay and display car park just past the Cottage entrance archway down the road on the left for quick drop off of cases and bags if the W areas car parking spaces are full ( scratch card ).The West Cliff car parking permit was very much appreciated and we were able to leave our vehicle parked there for the week, Everything ( bedding and towels ) lovely and clean and the crockery, cutlery pots and pans are plentiful. The fridge thermostat must be a little keen as it does freeze some of the things put into it. The showers are really good, the 1st floor one is a bit splashy onto the window sill and as the plastic door plastic guard doesn't fit quite flush, the water can go onto the floor but easily wiped up. The above being said we had a wonderful time and were very comfortable. Thank you very much.

This is our 3rd yeah staying at this property.. It is always clean and well presented. Now has WiFi. Great location. One small thing was that even though the fridge setting was at its lowest and couldn’t be turned now anymore it was freezing our food.

Lovely accommodation that is just a nice distance from the front but in a good position to get to several areas of Whitby.. Wouldn't hesitate to book again.

The cottage (Curlew) itself was ok but the parking facilities were a headache.. The scratch cards for parking close to the cottage would have been ideal but it was very rare for a space to park. The the permit for the alternative parking at West Cliff saved money but the car park was at least a five minute walk away from the cottage (my wife & I are 82 & 83 respectively) and we had to carry any items from the car to the cottage, which was a bit of a drag when we had been shopping.

The location is very good.. Cleaning was adequate - a few items found under and down side of sofas. Little things spoiled the cottage - insufficient dishwasher tablets, no kitchen towel either paper or towelling and the shower screen didn’t do it’s job. Would be useful to have a second door key too.

Disappointed with parking permits got 2 permits each last 4 days,we were there for 14 days .. The parking permit for West cliff car park was out of date .so had to pay for a weeks parking

We have previously stayed at the neighbouring cottage, Oystercatcher Cottage. This cottage is tucked away nicely from the hustle and bustle of Whitby, but not too far away from all the amenities. The cottage is furnished to a high standard. The upstairs mirrors the other cottage, but the ground floor is a different set up. Once again we received a lovely little welcome pack with tea, coffee and biscuits included. The cottage has everything you need for a week or short break. It is a stone throw away from shops, bars and restaurants. Parking in Whitby is always a nightmare, but you get a permit for West Cliff car park which is just up the road and also scratch cards which can be used for permit holder parking which is a big bonus. We got parked less than 30 seconds from the cottage. This place is also dog friendly.

A lovely house in a great location for exploring Whitby and the surrounding area. The house is ideal with plenty of space and it was easy to walk into the harbour at Whitby. It was great for the dog with lovely walks within easy reach for morning and late walks.

Curlew Cottage is a superb cottage in a great location- in the centre but tucked away so also quiet. It is modern, clean and well equipped. The master bedroom has a great king size bed and lovely views over the rooftops to the abbey.

Curlew Cottage is in a great location, in the centre of Whitby. It was a very warm house, and provided everything we needed. Excellent that the house welcomes dogs too!
