Nestled in outstanding peaceful countryside, Axminster is certainly a place to relax and unwind. Famous for its carpets, which are often likened to Turkish examples, it is one of Devon’s prettiest smaller towns. Situated on the River Axe and within easy reach of both the West Dorset and East Devon Jurassic Coast, Axminster has many attractions, including plenty of privately owned shops, a weekly market and excellent old inns, with one dating back 100 years with its own resident ghost! With beautiful views on offer and the National Trust properties of Shute Barton and Loughwood Meeting House close by, Axminster is a must to visit.

Culverwells, was a lovely property to stay in.. The information on the website doesn't make enough of the glorious views to rear of the property of hills and farmland. You can see for miles. We stayed there with another family. There were four adults and four young teenagers. The boys particularly enjoyed the piano in the lounge. The garden was lovely to run around in with a great rope swing. There is a recreation ground just up the road which the kids used too. The rooms were large enough for a short stay. We loved the jacuzzi bath and made good use of it. The house is just a short drive from Lyme Regis and Beer and there is a good farm shop called Millers a short drive away. The house is very pretty and had been renovated beautifully. Some doorways are low, so the taller of us had a few bumps. Just don't put your food bags on the heated floor as we did and end up with melted chocolate biscuits. I would recommend this property.
