What a lovely trip! The accommodation is literally home from home - everything you could have thought of is provided for. Its warm and comfortable so a perfect year round choice. Whitby is walking distance - plenty choices for pubs and restaurants. Some were shut when we went because of Covid (staffing issues etc) but there is a good Sainsburys just up the road and the kitchen is well-equipped and you have a lovely view so what's not to like! We loved the coastal walks - absolutely beautiful (in both directions). Take the train, its fun and you can walk back (via some lovely pubs!) Strongly recommend the area for walking. The abbey - and micro brewery behind - are also well worth a visit. Brilliant - we'll be back!

We stayed a week at cricket cottage and had a great holiday. The cottage is in an excellent location, being walking distance from Whitby with amazing views of the viaduct. It had everything you could need and was a lovely place for cosy nights in.

The location of Cricket Cottage was fabulous.. Lovely views from front and back, and so quiet and peaceful. The walk along the cinder track to Whitby was lovely, and a only took 20 minutes. The cottage was very comfortable, well equipped and was a perfect home from home for the two weeks we were there.

This worked well for our family of four. The complex is a 5min drive from whitby centre or a pleasant 30min walk over a viaduct. The fixtures and fittings are all fairly modern, beds are comfy and there is a smart-enabled TV. The communal gardens were good for a kick about and there is outdoor seating and a small balcony too.

Yet another lovely stay in Cricket Cottage. We have now stayed so often, it's becoming a real home from home! Love visiting Whitby and the local countryside. Hopefully will visit again soon.

Perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of every day life! We fancied a relaxed break not too far away and Cricket Cottage was just that. David was an excellent host, answering promptly to our questions about bringing pets and proximity to the centre of Whitby. The cottage was clean, inviting and in an excellent location. The weather was not on our side that weekend but there were so many delicious restaurants to choose from so it didn’t matter in the slightest! Thank you so much, we will definitely be back

Had a lovely week in cricket cottage with my family. The cottage had everything you could ask for in a holiday home and was so cosy and comfy! Super location aswell - only a short 15 minute walk into town where the choice of restaurants and bars is brilliant. Thanks to David the owner for being quick to respond to any messages and at the end of the phone to answer any questions we had. Already looking forward to going back again!

With so much choice we really researched holiday cottages and so glad we found Cricket Cottage as it exceeded all expectations. The cottage is cozy and really well equipped for all family needs. With only a 20 minute walk to the centre of Whitby and the beech, parking is no problem. Whitby offers something for everybody including lovely long walks on a beautiful beach followed by food and drinks at so many restaurants. The cottage has everything including fast WiFi, Netflix tv and DVD as well as a very efficient heating system. We will be returning and give top marks to this lovely cottage.

Thank you for a fabulous week at Cricket Cottage. We loved the location which is very close to the town centre and on the Cider track which is a beautiful walk to Robin Hoods Bay! The cottage is home from home and has everything you need from a dishwashe to a microwave...even down to a bottle opener! Fantastic views from the cottage and we loved watching the steam train from the balcony! We will definitely be returning! Fantastic service when booking- very friendly and accommodating x cannot wait to return!!

Super cottage! Spotless on arrival and very comfy and cosy - had everything you could possibly need. Cricket cottage is in the perfect location with only a short walk into town where there is lots to do and lots to see - would reccomend Abbey Wharf for fish and chips! Overall our stay in Cricket was lovely, my family and I really enjoyed our stay and we will most definitely be back! Thanks a lot to the owners who made us feel very welcome and were extremely helpful.

This is a lovely holiday home. We have visited Whiby quite a few times now and we always stay at Cricket Cottage. Always clean and tidy; the cottage is very well appointed with every thing you need. Cosy and welcoming. It is only a short and pleasant walk along the viaduct and you are in Whitby. Hope it's not too long before we can visit again.

Both myself and the dog thoroughly enjoyed this holiday.. The walk along the cinder path was longer than we thought and very muddy in places glad I took my walking boots. There is a shorter way into Whitby which the next door neighbours showed me on the last day. The cottage was lovely and clean and tidy also very warm. The electric went off for 6 hours on the Friday but that was due to Northern Power repairing a cable nearby. The walks around the river and Captain Cooks Haven were great for a last evening walk. The only things that could be better is that there were no bath mats and I hate getting out of a shower onto a tiled floor so I used the rubber mat for inside the bath. Also there was no draining rack for dishes (I know there is a dishwasher but being only myself I didn’t use it) I was bothered about the crockery sliding off the draining board into the floor. Only little things but would be nice to see these in place on a return visit. Would I go again yes definitely thinking about September. What doesn’t show on the picture is that you face the brick and wood shed which houses the bins so part of your view of the river/viaduct is obscured downstairs but great upstairs. Lovely open countryside views at the back and private decking area. No fenced in area but took the dog on the lead out to the grass at the back morning and evening for his toilet. Would recommend this property prefer being at the top than having to climb the steep hill everyday from the cottages at the bottom but they have a brilliant river view swings and roundabouts. Parking great no issues at all that’s a big plus for me

Just had a lovely holiday at Cricket COTTAGE very very well equipped took us a while to work out electric oven until we found instructions inside a cupboard door then we was ok.. There is a lovely view across the fields from kitchen window and rear patio and views out the front of the viaduct and river plus the Steam Trains so if you want a nice quiet base for a trip to Whitby this is it. It is only 5/6minute drive to town or by taxi costs only £6.00p we did this to go on the Steam Train as parking is difficult costs for parking is about £10.00p for all day at least with the taxi for us it stopped right out-side the station for a lovely day on the NORTH YORKSHIRE MOORS RAILWAY a very good day out

Travelling with my 91 year old mother, we needed a comfortable "home from home" for the week and found Cricket Cottage absolutely perfect for our needs.. On arrival, we were quite delighted by how beautifully it was presented - immaculately decorated, with beautiful decor, spotlessly clean, every home comfort - and as we settled in we found the cottage had everything we could possibly need. The location is just perfect - plenty of on-site parking, and only a mile or so from the centre of Whitby. And given the inclement weather, we were particularly grateful for the efficient heating and constant hot water. Really highly recommended.

As it was a last minute move from another one of your properties in Whitby that was dirty this property was what you would expect the be like when you pay good money, a big thank you to I think it was Lisa at Sykes for sorting the move and David Bowles the owner for letting us book his holiday home at last minute as it saved our week and without to much of a upset to us thank you..

Made a great location to make our holiday wonderful and a suitable base to see the surrounding areas and sites. I would highly recommend the cottage to anyone who wants to see the area. Very impressive modern accommodation which has been furnished/finished to a high standard eg smeg appliances and branded crockery etc. There are a lot of cottages to choose from at Riverside or at Captain Cooks Haven next door but having studied all the pictures we thought Cricket Cottage looked the most attractive and were not disappointed. Twenty minutes walk to the centre of Whitby but also benefits from being in a grassy, low density area - we were there with a small child who loved being able to play in the communal area with sheep, rabbits and horses over the hedge.
