This is the best house we ever had. Great views and very spacious, clean and cosy. Very central for Skye Isle. We saw seals, sea otters, and were very lucky to see even the nortern lights from the living room!

We booked MacKenzie's Peak for a short stay with the family. We arrived to find a nice holiday home with a stunning view out over the water towards Rassay. The house was clean and warm with under floor heating in all the downstairs rooms and radiators in the upstairs rooms. All the bedrooms have large wardrobes for your clothes and extra blankets should you need them. The kitchen is large and has everything you could possibly need and more and you could easily host a small feast in this house. The living room in on the first floor and has stunning views over the water. There are two bedrooms downstairs, a double and a twin, and the third is on the first floor which is a double. There is a shower and toilet on the ground floor and a bathroom on the first with a large bath and shower. The owner was very friendly and was easy to get hold of if there was any problem. We really loved our short stay here and would certainly think about staying here again.

The property was in a fantastic location, not far from amenities with easy access to the north and south of the island as it is central.. Ferry to Raasay is walking distance from the house . The view of the mountains and the bay was spectacular. The owner was great at communication. Kitchen had basic equipment but dining area was lovely (with a great view). Would highly recommend if visiting Isle of Skye, we had a wonderful time- thank you.

We have stayed at several properties over the years and this one was the best.. Also, the owner meet us on arrival and was very friendly and asked if we needed any advice on the area. She also came to wish us a safe journey home. The property was everything and more what we hoped it would be. We will return in the future.

The house location was mind-blowing.. Located in a great place on the Isle of Skye - and an amazing view out on to the sea. The house itself had all the right facilities for an amazingly comfortable stay. With free parking on the premises, this was a perfect pit-stop on our vacation across Scotland. The hosts were really great - stayed right by in their cottage and always at hand to assist with any questions. Would love to come back here!!

Greeted by the owner Nicky on arrival who lives next door with a smile and a welcome box of shortbread. Beautifully appointed cottage, spotlessly clean, a perfect home from home in an ideal location. Games, DVDs, books, jigsaws and even a telescope. The cottage was beautiful but what made it more special were the spectacular views from every room of the sea and mountains. When we visit Skye again we will definitely book this accommodation.

The scenery was spectacular and the places of interest are worthy of your bucket list. It was lovely to have breakfast in the morning sitting at the dining table watching the mountain being reflected in the water and seeing the little ferry carrying passengers over to Raasay. MacKenzie's Peak is on the site of where John MacKenzie was born. We could not have asked for a better place to stay while enjoying Skye.

This house is situated between Broeadford and Portree. It has beautiful views and is decorated to a very high standard. On arrival we were met by the owner who was so nice and very welcoming. We travelled with elderly parents who were very comfortable in one of the downstairs bedrooms , one bathroom was straight across the hall from their room. We couldn't fault the house at all but sadly the garden with patio was not at all evident. We had beautiful weather for the duration of our holiday but there was nowhere to sit comfortably to enjoy the outdoors. The side and back of house was overgrown, uneven and untidy. I managed to find four plastic chairs next to an old shed but sitting on them was difficult as the ground was uneven. I even weeded the front to tidy it up a bit!! However it is a great base for exploring Skye and definitely would return . A nice outdoor area would make a huge difference.

This place is really nice. The cottage is basically a fully self-contained part attached to a larger house where the hosts, Nikki and Angus (very friendly and helpful!) live. It's a two-story cottage with a nice, large, fully equipped kitchen (fridge, large oven and stove, microwave, dishwasher, washer, and dryer) and dining room on the lower floor, where you also have two bedrooms (a double and one with two single beds) and a bathroom with shower -- and the heated floors are a nice touch! On the top floor, there's another large double bedroom, a full bathroom (with bath and shower), and a very cozy living room with TV, DVD player, and even a selection of DVDs (which the kids appreciated very much!). There's also a nice telescope you can use to get close-up views of the bay and mountains opposite the cottage -- you really get an amazing view from the living room and dining room! The cottage is spotless (including the bathrooms) and very elegantly finished and furnished -- there's a lot of attention to detail, much more than you would typically expect from a rental accommodation. And its childproofed as well, except for the stairs (no barriers), in case that's relevant. The only thing I found a little disappointing was that all the "consumables" you use during your stay (and which in my experience with self-catering establishments are normally provided in ample amounts), such as toilet paper, paper towel, tea, coffee, sugar, etc., were only provided in bare minimum amounts -- a couple of spoonfuls of coffee and sugar, a few rolls of toilet paper; not nearly enough to last the entire week, requiring us to purchase all these things at the grocery store. Either you provide these items in sufficient quantities for the entire stay or you don't, but don't provide just enough for 1-2 days when you rent the place out for a week at a time... Also, items of which you need much smaller amounts over the course of a week than the smallest packaging you can buy (e.g. oil, vinegar, spices...) should also be provided (they were not, and we had to buy large bottles of each). I nearly reduced one star in my ranking for this, but decided not to in the end. The cottage is very well situated on Skye, with most of the major attractions and hikes/treks within a 0.5-1 hour drive away. There are grocery stores (Coop is the only chain on the island) and gas stations in Broadford (which you pass along the way from the Skye bridge, about 15 min before reaching the cottage) and Portree (the "capital" of the Isle of Skye), about a 15-min drive North past the cottage (the Coop in Broadford is much larger than the one in Portree). You've got a number of restaurants in Portree as well. With the one caveat above, I highly recommend this self-catering cottage.

This was a fantastic house for a great week in Skye. We were 4 adults and 2 young children and there was plenty of space to spread out, unlike a lot of more traditional properties. Great kitchen, lovely bedrooms and a fab big lounge with the most amazing view over to Raasay. The owners leave a telescope in the lounge which was great, and we saw an eagle, buzzards and eventually an otter from the house. Sconser is a great base for the island, half way between Portree and Broadford which both have supermarkets. A local pub would be ideal (though we didn't try the local hotel to be fair). The owner is really helpful. Overall fantastic - a great find, which we'd love to revisit.

We chose this property particularly for the views from the lounge. We were not disappointed. On really wet days we were content to watch the wildlife from the comfort of the house.
