We enjoyed a relaxing week at Corner Cottage.. It is clean, well equipped, and tastefully decorated. The owners have clearly given some careful thought to the comfort of their guests. After a long journey we were very happy to find milk in the fridge so we could make a reviving cup of tea and we also enjoyed the tasty biscuits that were kindly be left for us. Having a beautiful beach just a short walk away was a real bonus. We loved splashing in the waves and skimming stones and then returning to our cosy holiday home for hot chocolate, and on a practical note, the entrance hall/utility space was very handy as it meant we could get out our wet gear quickly and hang it all up to dry ready for our next adventure. We also visited the nature reserve just around the corner and were impressed with the warm welcome in the lovely lookout cafe, which was perfect for bird watching... and eating cake! As well as venturing out we also rather liked staying in with the log burner on watching family films. The cottage has a great selection of dvds, books, and a basket of toys for little people.

Great cottage in a really good location for exploring the Northumberland Coast.. Lovely places like Warkworth, Alnwick, Bamburgh and Seahouses are within an easy drive, and sights such as Cragside are a mere hour away by car. This is a beautiful and cosy cottage that is really comfortable and welcoming. It's excellently presented and very clean. Excellent facilities and wonderful to have a well done kitchen with everything there for those of us who like to cook. Great library and DVD collection too for nights in. The only bits we'd say to bear in mind are about the beach location and the broadband. The walk to the beach is ok for an adult - it's a good 10 minute walk - but we found it was too much for a young child. There is thankfully a car park nearby. Also, broadband speed is slow. This is no fault of the cottage, it's just that it's in a rural location. The Wi-Fi is good throughout the cottage and you can browse the internet but it's no use for streaming on a tablet.

A beautifully presented little cottage, so comfortable and spotlessly clean.. Location in beautiful Northumberland just perfect, close to so many interesting places to explore. A great holiday.

Never been to Northumberland before but can’t wait to go back.. So much to see. The cottage was the icing on the cake.

June 2019
The owners had been very thorough in the cleanliness of the cottage, and in the equipment provIded; from the comfy beds, extra blankets, kitchen tools and crockery, to a wide range of books, DVDs and information about the local area, they thought of everything.. We really enjoyed our stay, and appreciated the welcoming items. For the size of the cottage the owners have made the very best of the space, and the seating area in the back garden was a real bonus.

The cottage was charming and extremely well decorated with great attention to detail.. It was well situated for many attractions in the area and very close to a wonderful beach. I would recommend this listing to anybody visiting the area. A wonderful holiday enhanced by the quality of the accommodation.

Corner Cottage is a beautifully appointed and very comfortable cottage which has real style - probably one of the best we've ever stayed in.. There is everything you could ever want, from the log burner to the selection of books! It was a delight to return there after windblown and chilly days out. It's also ideally situated for exploring the area, either straight outside the door or within an hours drive. We'd definitely stay there again.

A delightful cottage.. Meticulously clean and beautifully decorated and equipped - especially the kitchen and lounge. Terrific library. All the decor and furnishings are well thought-out and integrated, and the lounge is one of the best we’ve seen in our many holiday cottage stays; one of our party was ill for most of the week, but there couldn’t have been a nicer cottage to be ‘stuck’ in. Upstairs is a bit less spacious, but beds are comfortable and the shower is good. Footpath across the fields gets you to the shoreline in ten minutes. Overall, a first-class cottage, really well looked after. Kudos to the owners. :-)

December 2018
Corner Cottage in High Hauxley is a super place to spend time and a great location to explore Northumberland from.. The cottage is thoughtfully put together and is clearly cared about. We choose the cottage because it had a woodburner which kept us toasty during out stay (we did bring and buy our own wood to see us through the week) and it had a kitchen capable of cooking Christmas dinner. When we arrived some Christmas decorations had been hung which was an unexpected and thoughtful touch. We are keen walkers so that boot room behind the kitchen was perfect and in poor weather outdoor weather could be corralled in one place without trapsing through the house. The cottage was always warm to come back to and there was plenty of hot water. It matched our needs perfectly and we would recommend to anyone else who wants to explore the Northumberland coast and genuinely self cater.

One of the best holiday homes we have stayed in.. Spotlessly clean, very quiet, great position close to the coast. Highly recommended

August 2018
Corner Cottage, High Hauxley, is a very nicely presented and clean holiday cottage, with a lovely welcome pack of Prosecco and biscuits on arrival.. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare breakfasts, lunches and evening meals (when not eating out). The book library is well stocked with a whole range of books, plus there are a good selection of DVDs (in particular for little ones). There are plenty of games to keep families entertained on evenings too. Corner Cottage ideally suits couples as opposed to families due to it's size, which we felt was somewhat lacking, in addition to their being limited storage space to put away clothes for a weeks stay. On a personal note we felt the beds were too hard (for us it was like sleeping on floorboards) and the bathroom sink far too tiny. We decided to cut short the week's stay due to the uncomfortable beds as it was very difficult to get a good nights sleep, plus the people staying next door in Middle Cottage were very noisy through to the early hours of the mornings which kept us awake most nights! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OWNERS REPLY - We take our customer's feedback very seriously and we were saddened to hear that you cut short your holiday at Corner Cottage due to the beds and noise from holiday makers in the adjoining property. With regard to the beds, you compared sleeping on them to sleeping on floorboards. We should like to = point out that our mattresses are of medium firmness and in three years of running our cottage we haven't had any negative feedback about them. Everyone is different however, and although we have tried to strike a balance, it obviously didn't work in your case. With regard to the noisy neighbours, although we cannot be held responsible for them, it is a great shame you hadn't thought to get in touch with us at the time using the details provided in the cottage, or alternatively you could have contacted Sykes. Either way, we could have got on to the problem immediately and dealt with it. Once again, we are very sorry that your holiday didn't live up to expectations.
Mr Aston
July 2018
We really enjoyed our time at the Corner Cottage but there were 2 or 3 things that would have made it better.. These are not complaints - they are just recommendations based on our experience. We had intended to use both bedrooms but our daughter was taken ill & the 2nd bedroom was therefore available fo us to use & we did find it beneficial as the master bedroom was a bit cramped for space & we were able to make god use of the set of drawers & the hooks of the wall in the 2nd bedroom. We believe that the master bedroom would be much improved if the large Wardrobe was removed & was replaced by a small set of drawers & wall hooks similar to those in the 2nd bedroom. The bed could then be moved to a more central position, perhaps creating room for 2 small bedside cabinets & certainly giving more room around the bed near the window & providing somewhere for day-clothes to be placed conveniently overnight. We also feel that a slightly larger hand-basin in the bathroom would be an improvement. The current basin really is difficult to use properly. A few CD's would also have been welcomed for use on the player you supplied in the lounge We hope you will not be offended by these suggestions - we loved the cottage & the amenities & we had a super week there. You have obviously gone to great trouble to proved a warm, friendly & cosy environment - and we loved it!! Warm regards David & Sharon

I was incredibly impressed by the cottage.. It’s a beautiful little place with fantastic facilities and so, so clean. Communications with the owners were slick too. We particularly appreciated the range of books and games but even details like a parking permit were much appreciated. I couldn’t recommend highly enough.

June 2018
An immaculately clean, well decorated cottage.. Well equipped for all your self-catering needs. Great selection of books: good literature and everything relating to Northumberland's walks. places of interest, history, wild life, etc. Lots of children's stuff too. Beds a little firm for us, but that's a personal preference. Quite location, beach and nature reserve easily walked to. Shops, pubs etc., a short drive. Convenient for all Northumberland has to offer. Highly recommended! Tip: after unloading, move your car to the road. The off-road parking at the rear is under a large tree which, in early June at least, dropped a lot of very sticky debris. Road parking is no problem; the road is quite wide and has very little traffic.
Mrs Ransom
April 2018
The cottage was extremely comfortable and had every creature comfort you could ask for.. Felt like a real home rather than a holiday cottage. It also had a well maintained pretty garden. We couldn't wait to return to the cottage after a day out exploring the wonderful Northumbrian Coast and Countryside.
Mr Poulton

October 2017
Lovely. traditional, well-presented cottage - comfortable, cosy and very warm.. Coffee, tea, sugar and milk left by owners which was very welcome on arrival. Also the bottle of Prosecco and packet of luxury biscuits left by the owners was a lovely gesture that was much appreciated. Great location for exploring this section of the Northumberland coast. Alnwick, Alnmouth, Rothbury, Craster, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island and Berwick all within acceptable travelling distance.Spoilt for choice for tourist attractions and visits eg. Alnwick Castle, Woodhorn Mining Museum, RNLI Grace Darling Museum, Wallington Hall, Cragside House and Gardens to name but a few. Fantastic coastal walks and beautiful beaches (eg. Durridge Bay) all on the doorstep.
Mr Grubb
September 2017
FANTASTIC is a word that describes this beautiful cottage that has everything you require to be a hermit, its location for long walks through stunning unspoiled and deserted countryside couldn't be better.. Ambel is a short walk away which the however as a town is a throw back there are some lovely restaurants. Highly recommend a week away from it all in Northumberia

August 2017
As we wrote in the guest book at Corner Cottage, we went straight into holiday mode the moment we arrived.. Ideally located for Amble, the beach, local restaurants and all the wonderful attractions of Northumberland. No place felt too far afield because Amble is so central for anything coastal or inland. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the cottage and the atmosphere it created. Lovely clean and fresh living space and kitchen with everything we needed to hand, so much so that we felt at home at once. A big thank you for all the thought and care that has gone in to creating the perfect self-catering holiday cottage. We would highly recommend it.

July 2017
Although the weather was not brilliant, this cottage was a lovely comfortable home from home.. ...we even lit the log burner.! It is stunning and stylish throughout and equipped to the highest standard. Everything you could possibly need is there. There were fresh flowers, cakes and wine waiting for us and milk in the fridge. We cannot recommend this cottage more highly.

May 2017
We stayed at this delightful, cosy cottage from 29th May to 3rd June 2017 – the nicest holiday let we have stayed in.. The decor and furnishing are really tasteful and it was spotlessly clean. Following an easy booking process with Sykes Cottages and helpful, personal e-mails from the owners, we arrived to find fresh flowers, wine and delicious home-made cake awaiting us. We loved using the wood-burning stove – even though we didn’t really need it! We would very definitely recommend it.

April 2017
We had a fantastic holiday at Corner Cottage.. The cottage itself was immaculately clean, beautifully decorated and very cosy. Its position makes it ideal for exploring the Northumberland coastline and there are walks from the door onto the local beaches. The owners left us a homemade cake and a bottle of Prosecco which was a lovely touch and we would highly recommend staying there.

December 2016
My Mother and I booked this cottage over Christmas.. We were between houses on a move to the area. I cannot praise this cottage enough. It is stocked with everything you need and more. Open a drawer or cupboard and there was a surprise! From games, cds, children's book, Baby dishes and spoons to birthday cake candles. The bird life in the garden was a pleasure to watch, although they did make a mess of the car! Situated just outside Amble it could not have been better located. The Owner and her Mother were waiting on our arrival and we were welcomed warmly. We were shown round the cottage which had been tastefully decorated for Christmas so we did not miss out on festivities. The log burner made us feel very snug in the evenings. This is truly a delightful place to spend a holiday.
Mrs Chapman, December 2016
October 2016
Great cottage which is extremely well located for a beach style holiday.. An ideal base for touring coastal Northumberland. Easy walk to local beach with Amble close enough for a good walk along the road, coastal track, beach (depending upon tide) or a short drive. Very clean and well equipped with everything one could need for a self-catering holiday.
Mr Bowden, October 2016
October 2016
The question of re booking has to be no as of 2017 the owners are NOT allowing dogs and that's a real shame but I'm sure they have their reasons, otherwise the answer would be yes.. I also would like to say how helpful the ladies on your phones were on 9th Oct. They were very efficient at helping us when we got locked out of the cottage, Thank You again.
Mrs Parker, October 2016
October 2016
What a fantastic cottage, small but had everything you could wish for even down to a lemon squeezer.. Situated perfectly for beach, Amble and lovely walks. What a pity we can't return as from next year they are not excepting dogs. Jennifer Clelland.

October 2016
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Corner Cottage.. It was so beautifully furnished and impeccably clean. The location was ideal for visiting places of interest in Northumberland and there was the added advantage of being so near to the sea. Sykes cottages can be proud of having such a lovely cottage on its books as it is such an excellent advert for the company and would encourage us to book again.

A plethora of books, board games and videos to suit all ages and numerous guide books and maps of the local area and places to explore. A wonderful little cottage - just a shame it won't be accepting dogs from next year as we would hae booked again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and could not fault anything. It is one of the best places we have stayed and we have been on self catering holidays for many years. My wife, myself and our dog recently holidayed in Northumberland for the first time and were delighted when we opened the door to this lovely cottage. The overall presentation of the cottage could not be faulted; fresh and bright decoration throughout, stylish and new furniture with a great kitchen. It has a very homely feel to it with lots of books, boardgames, DVDs and a great log burner for the colder evenings. It is the best cottage we have ever stayed in after 30 years of renting cottages in England and Wales. The garden at the rear was great for sitting in the sunshine with a cup of tea, watching the local birds, and the separate enclosed grass area was perfect for the dog. The hamlet where it is situated is really quiet, only 15 minutes walk to a great beach but is still just a short drive to Alnwick, Warkworth and other locations to visit in the area. We would not hesitate to return there in the future and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to holiday in the area.

Just returned from a week at the lovely Corner Cottage. A beautiful property, in an excellent spot, we were welcomed with fresh cut flowers, home made cake and a bottle of wine. We brought our little dog who loved the beach that is less than a 10 minute walk away. Ideally positioned to visit any of the many places of interest Northumberland has to offer, we had a fantastic time. Coming back to such a pretty and cosy place was such a treat. We'll definitely be back

I spent a week at Corner Cottage in April, and I'd rate this as the loveliest cottage I've ever stayed in. Beautifully furnished, with wonderful detailing. Immaculately clean and very well equipped, everything felt (and often was) brand new. We were welcomed with fresh flowers, homemade cake and wine which was a really nice touch. I'd definitely return, hopefully soon!

Corner cottage is the perfect spot for either chilling out and spending time on the nearby beach or exploring the castles, bays and other interesting places in Northumberland. The cottage is stunning, lovely modern deco, but still retains the charm of a cottage, well equipped and very comfortable. The small attention to detail, makes you feel welcome the minute you step through the door. Even our little mutt had a small welcome gift!. I would highly recommend this lovley place as a perfect get away. It may have been a cold week in February for a quick holiday, but the cottage is lovely warm 'home' to come back to at the end of a day's exploits. We had a lovely week. X

One word sums this cottage up "PERFECT". We have just returned from 3 nights at the "Corner Cottage" and we were blown away by the quality of the interior and the attention to detail offered at the property, From the moment we walked through the door we were struck by the clean fresh decoration and lovely interior design touches. Everything is colour corrdinated and the cottage boasts contemporary prints on the walls and well stocked bookcases. The cottage was warm and cosy and there was plenty of wood for the stove. Our dog (Harvey) appreciated the complimentry doggy treats as much as we appeciated the delicious home made lemon drizzle cake and the bottle of prosecco that had been left by the owner to make our first evening extremely enjoyable. On top of all this, the location is wonderful. The cottage is situated in beautiful contryside and is just a 1/4 mile from some lovely sandy beaches. We really enjoyed our stay - thank you!

Corner Cottage is an absolute delight. It is modern inside but definitely retains all the charms a cottage should have. All amenities are available within the beautifully decorated and furnished rooms. It is very comfortable with a wonderful wood burning stove for those chilly nights. The kitchen is well equipped with every conceivable pan, dish etc that you may need. There is a lovely cottage garden which is dog proof against escape! The location could not be better with the beach and sand dunes only half a mile walk away (even quicker by car). There is a good coast road which takes you to Amble. Alnwick and all points north. Corner cottage is definitely worth coming to and I would recommend it to all.

Corner Cottage had a lovely modern inside but also retained the character of the cottage.. The décor was well thought out with simple, well placed artwork. The furnishings were extremely comfortable, as was the whole cottage. The cottage garden was very pretty and definitely dog proof. Our pooch really loved it. Well located for visiting many lovely places throughout Northumberland. The owners made us very welcome. We loved our time there and would definitely recommend Corner Cottage to all.
