It’s perfect for exploring the surrounding area Morar, Mallaig, Arisaig and Fort William in a very tranquil setting with no noise.. . Overlooks Loch Morar and has a daily visit from the deer who are extremely tame and willing to approach you. I was shielding and was able to do it perfectly in the surrounding area. Loch Morar is only 2-3 minutes away and we only saw a couple of people on our walk.

An amazing location.. We particularly enjoyed the fact that we could sit at the table with a view out over the loch and often see deer wander nearby. It was great to be able to self-cater, especially during Covid19. We are planning to return to Cooinda Flat next year as we had such a wonderful time.

Cooinda Flat is located above the owners own property but has its own separate entrance.. It is set back slightly from a quiet road next to Cooinda Cottage. There is a washing machine and dryer on the “ground” floor as you enter then stairs to the flat. As others have pointed out, the roof is sloping so those of taller stature might have an issue (and a sore head) by the end of their stay. The three bedrooms are a good size, though the beds aren’t the most comfortable and the furniture is beginning to show its age. The views from the living room window are stunning and there is a deer family that regularly visits the field nearby. The bathroom let’s the property down as the corner bath is under the sloping roof so it’s virtually impossible to stand and have a shower and is difficult for older people to get in and out of. A rethink of the layout might help. There was however plenty of hot water for a bath. There is parking in front of the Flat and cottage as well as directly outside in the street. Mallaig is 2.5 miles away with tourist shops and tea rooms as well as a small Co-operative Shop with all the basics for self catering as there is no shops in Morar itself. Mike (the owner) popped round at the start of the stay to say hello. If you’re looking for a base on which to travel over to Skye on the ferry, Cooinda flat is perfect.

We were not told about the low ceilings until we got there my father cut his .... We were not told about the low ceilings until we got there my father cut his head the day we arrived and left a bad scaring and bruising there was no shower curtain and we could not stand in the shower we were very careful but still the water went everwhere my 3 yearold grand daughter slipped and banged her head there was not enough kitchen space to prepare a meal would not recomend for young children and older people

Location good.. Flat comfortable and warm. The shower is a problem as previous comments have stated. Needs to be mentioned in details that there is no hairdryer. Be prepared to put in the miles to access visitor attractions.

Had a fantastic time.. The flat has a homely and cosy feel. The view is stunning and u could spend all day just sitting at the window watching the change in the Loch as well as the wildlife. Cannot wait to return.

It is a lovely flat in the most perfect place.. The accommodation is a lot larger than it looks in the pictures. If you have the weather there is no finer place to holiday. We had a great time.

The apartment was ideal for our holiday over looking Loch Morar.. It had everything we required to enable us to self cater in the evening. I would comment that as with most self catering units the cookery knives whilst they look nice in their block are not up to the basic job they are designed for i .e. being sharp enough to cut the produce. My only other comment and this is personal, the corner bath and shower head are through necessity fitted in the bathroom corner with a sloping ceiling I found difficult to access through not being able to bend my knees sufficiently.. Mike the owner is a charming and attentive host and I think Cooinda is ideal and I would. recommend it to friends and relatives as the perfect base for this area of Scotland. Another bonus is that the railway station is a ten minute walk away enabling you to visit Mallaig and Fort William without using the car.

What a location! The breathtaking views of the nearly Loch Morar are an instant hit, which can be quickly followed by wonderful walks alongside it and to the beach on the other side of the town. The flat itself was spacious enough for our party of 3 and provided the basics for our stay. The seating was less comfortable than we would have liked and the awkwardness of the shower arrangement, because of the sloping roof, took a little getting used to. But these are minor gripes and we were very happy, especially when engaging with the local deer, some of whom are tame enough to be fed and stroked.

The only pity is it's such a long way to get here.. The owner Mike was very helpful on arrival. The flat is spacious especially as there were only two of us. Location is fabulous ….The view ! constantly changing over the Loch......The walks..... The almost tame deer....Oh and the beaches, especially the coast road between Morar and Asisaig !!... and if you want to do the train ride from the village to Fort William the ordinary train has the same views and is much cheaper than the Jacobite (they share the same line). The road journey between Fort William and Morar/Mallaig is one stunning view after another so if you're the driver doing the same journey by train makes up for what you might miss even though you are tempted to stop every few hundred yards to take photos. We had mixed weather but it didn't detract from anything.

Very clean, home from home. Plenty of room for family to spread out but still good size lounge/ kitchen/diner for all to come together. Good location in peaceful surroundings with walks straight from door to 'Silver sands' beach and Loch Morar where you can hire Kyacks. Great base to come home to and cool off/dry out whatever the weather.

I’d like to personally thank all of you at Sykes and the owner Mike Cunningham for everything! Everyone’s patience with us due to our delayed flights and lost luggage was a Godsend. It’s horrible when you have to call the owner in the middle of the night because Google maps was a bit off.. He and his wife were wonderful!! Again, I loved the house and the utter peacefulness of the area is something I will cherish for a long time. Thank you for such a perfect experience!

The only slight let down was that our partners had difficulty with the shower.. It is not a stand-up shower, rather a bath with a shower hose at lower than waist height. So it difficult for our parents to manoeuvre comfortably to bathe. Other than that, top place.

Myself, my wife and parents-in-law stayed here for a weekend and it's a lovely place to base yourself to explore the amazing scenery of this part of Scotland. We've stayed all over Scotland and this place ranks highly. The flat itself is well kitted out, kitchen is great with plates, bowls, cutlery and pans. There is a good fridge, TV and full Sky TV. The views from the living room are awesome. The only complaint was from the parents who found the lack of a stand-up shower quite a stress trying to manoeuvre in the bath. It has a shower hose, but it hangs at waist height. There is a seat in the bath though so you can sort something out. Would not stop us coming back though! Being in the back end of beyond, WiFi is slow, but I picked up 4g here so no problem if you have data and honestly, there is plenty to do so just put the phone and laptop away!! Mallaig and Arisaig are only a few miles either side so you can get a beer, go to the shop or find a place to eat very easily.

If you are looking for a wonderful place to stay and at a reasonable price...then this is it! My husband, my mother in law and my uncle in law had a great stay here. The view from the open plan living room of Loch Morar is beautiful and changes hourly. The nightly visits of deer and sheep could be viewed from the window. Bliss! The flat is above the owner's house but totally private. We did not hear or see the owner for our entire stay! So peaceful. The only warning I would say is that the sloping ceilings can be a hazard for tall people. My husband is 6ft 1 and on occasion bumped his head on the hall roof. However he says this would not stop him coming back. I however had no problems being 5ft 2! Mallaig is only a short drive away with plenty of eating places with set times 12- 2 or 5pm onwards. You can get snacks etc at the many tearooms all day. If like me you attend mass on a Sunday then there are plenty of churches..one being 2 minutes walk from this flat. Another in Mallaig too. We explored the whole area. A must is the walk to Morar and a short climb to the cross. The views are lovely. The many beaches around this area are wonderful. My favourite was at Traigh Golf course. I spent several hours reading whilst my husband played golf. He was able to hire clubs. 3 hours on the beaach and it was sunny. Scotland in the sun! We also did a day visit to Skye. Got the 12 ferry and the last ferry back at 7pm. It too was a great day. We wish to thank the owner for a great stay and having WiFi and sky TV on a wet day came in handy too!

Cooinda Flat was very comfortable and the living room had a superb view over Loch Morar. There were excellent walking routes near to hand and a very good train link with Mallaig which, in any event, is only 3.5 miles distant. Consequently, Cooinda is a very good base for visiting the small isles.

Wonderful location with selection of beaches, boat trips, swimming in sea and loch! Cooinda Flat is very quiet, as inland, but still very accessible to the beach by foot, car or bike. There is a beautiful view of Loch Morar from the sitting room window.
