Church view-Cottage in Newport is a very good place for a lot of activities.. Biking and hiking is possible in the nearby area. Bike hire in town, good maintained bikes and shuttle service to Achill Island. As we were travelling without a car, these possibilities were important for us. Nice view to the mountains, pleasant garden, close to the town. The host likes to meet the guests and is interested in their convenience.

This is the perfect small cottage - immaculately presented and with personal attention from its owner Paddy Costello, himself something of a local legend. A short walk to the pubs, cafes and good shops of Newport, which is largely unspoiled by tourism but is a short drive from the great tourist sites of the area, such as Achill Island and Croagh Patrick. We particularly enjoyed the Ballycroy national park - admittedly helped by lovely weather! Don't miss the Harry Clarke stained glass windows in the Newport RC church.

Spent a week here in May. The description did not do it justice. The views across the valley towards the mountains is fantastic. The cottage had everything we needed and was ideally situated for touring the area. The Greenway is on the doorstep so ideal for cyclists/walkers. Will definitely coming back next year.

VERY CLEAN & COMFORTABLE HOME, SITUATED AT THE TOP OF A LOVELY VALLEY WITH A VIEW OF HORSES AND SHEEP & THE NEPHIN BEG MOUNTAIN RANGE FROM THE WELL EQUIPPED KITCHEN & A BEDROOM.. A VIEW TOWARDS TOWN FROM THE OTHER BEDROOM & THE LOUNGE. VERY HOMELY DECORATED & MODERN BATH. MY HUSBAND WALKED INTO TOWN EACH DAY. IT WAS VERY PRETTY. PADDY CAME & TOOK MY HUSBAND FOR COFFEE IN TOWN. WE HAD GOOD LAMB FROM THE BUTCHER. WE TOOK PICNICS ON DAY TRIPS TO BURRISHOOLE ABBEY, WHERE I SKETCHED, WHILE HE HIKED, TO MULLRANNY TO HIKE, TO KEEL BEACH, ACHILL ISLAND (BOUGHT MORE LAMB), KEEM BEACH, BALLYCROY NATIONAL PARK, CROUGH PATRICK & THE NATIONAL FAMINE MEMORIAL. BACK TO CHURCH VIEW TO COOK, RELAX, WATCH TV AND PLAY CANASTA. THE FISH & CHIPS FROM THE FOOD TRUCK WAS GREAT.

Very conveniently placed for Newport and surrounding area. Cottage is well equipped, warm and welcoming. Very friendly owner who will welcome you to visit Ashford Castle as well. Quiet situation off the main road but walkable into Newport. Perfect if you want to explore north mayo or fish the many fisheries in the area. Shed outside is perfect for wet gear. Lots of nice places to eat locally from brilliant fish and chips to gourmet dinners at Newport House. Great music in town at Grauine Uaile.

The owner, Paddy Costello, was extremely helpful and provided a welcome pack including a large bowl of fruit.. The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. Paddy also recommended places to visit. The location was perfect for cycling the Great Western Greenway and cycle loops around County Mayo.

The cottage was first class.. It had all the facilities one could want and was very comfortable. The location was very peaceful and the views were great. The town was within easy walking distance - about 12 to 15 minutes depending on your pace. We had some difficulty in finding the cottage as it was just out of town and and off road. We contacted the tourist office which was very helpful and gave us fail-safe directions. More explicit instructions for locating the cottage would be very helpful and a couple of strategically placed directional signs would be great. Overall we enjoyed our holiday in Newport and felt quite at home in the cottage. If we visit the area again we would be very content to rent the cottage again.

Wonderful cottage in a lovely location. The cottage is well equipped and warm. Plenty of hot water and lovely log burner for those cold evenings. Plenty of outside space. The kitchen is well equipped if I was being really picky it's lacking a decent sharp knife! Paddy makes you feel very welcome. Newport itself is great plenty of pubs and shops within walking distance and lots of great places to visit in a short distance.

Our host, Paddy went out of his way to make my stay special and personal.. His warm and engaging manner made my stay feel more like a visit to a friend's home than a rental property. He goes way beyond what one comes to expect from a similar experience. The cottage is well appointed and everything functions properly. The house is warm, cozy, quiet and clean. The views are splendid and the location was ideal for my purposes. I can say many more positive things and I cannot think of anything negative to say. I would return in a heartbeat and would recommend this cottage to anyone I know.

Church View was 10 minutes walk from Newport in County Mayo.. This made it an excellent location for sight-seeing, walking and cycling. The cottage was a one-storey bungalow - warm, clean with excellent equipment, private parking outside on the large surfaced area within a lovely garden. It was well-decorated with comfortable beds, furniture etc. Beautiful mountain views from the windows and lots of places to visit. We went primarily to hike the countryside and the maps, leaflets provided by the owner were very helpful. There were also lots of historic sites to visit and we managed one or two (a week wasn't really long enough).Achill Island is only a short drive away with lots of paths, places to explore. We had a great week in a lovely place.

After spending two wonderful weeks in this well-equipped and very cosy cottage we would like to confirm that our expectations were exceeded by far.. This holiday home is an ideal starting point to go to Achill Island, Doohoma, Carrowteige (exciting cliff view) and Down Patrick Head. But also to go to the south to Doolough Valley, Croagh Patrick and Kylemore Abbey, to name a few. We highly recommend taking a trip to Lough Corrib, making a visit to Ashford Castle and enjoying the interesting boat tour to Inchagoill island. In the end we sadly had to say goodbye to Mayo. This won't be our last visit to this beautiful country!

The property was nicely located, but not labeled (no sign indicating "Church View").. Directions given by property owner were very good (I like using landmarks!!!) Very clean and comfortable, nice to have some basics at hand on arrival (coffee, tea, milk, butter & bread). Enjoyed visiting with the horses and the sheep & lambs at the bottom of the hill, and watching the elusive magpies, who were very camera shy! Neighbors were friendly, neighborhood quiet, garden beautiful, and view of the mountains and hills out the back were refreshing to the soul. The town is lovely, many good options for dining or enjoying a coffee. Highly recommend the "proper fish & chips" from the Blue Dolphin food truck behind the gas station! The only thing that kept it from being absolutely perfect was the clothes washer didn't work. (Just an inconvenience, as we packed light for travel from USA). As far as the booking process with Sykes, thank you for working with me when my banks' fraud protection protected! I would definitely consider this property again, as well as using Sykes!!!

I have already put a review on trip advisor for this property that's how highly I recommend it.. We live in a village, so having the use of this cottage for our base to tour this area was ideal. We like peace and quiet, venturing into the town when we need to. The property was in an ideal location up a lane with around 5 other properties. It was nice, you had views of hills not someone else's property. You still felt part of a community. The property had everything you would require for day to day living, it didn't feel like a holiday let. It was cosy and warm. It is in an ideal location with the town of Newport within walking distance, around a mile away. Westport is 7 miles, a nice quiet drive. We ventured into Galway and went to Achill Island. Knock Airport is just under 1 hour away and is also a nice unhurried drive away. Its a totally gentle place and you feel the calm and serenity when you enter the cottage. We could in fact live there.

We really liked the Church View Cottage, it was rather small, but very cosy and standard was very high.. We loved being able to walk into Newport in 10 minutes and there were plenty of nice restaurants and things to do. The water splash activities on the river in the late afternoon/early summer evenings were great fun for the kids. Our host was very keen that we enjoy our stay and gave us plenty of recommendations on were to eat and things to do!
