August 2020
I booked this cottage for a family break for 5 adults and 4 children aged between 5 and 12. We wanted somewhere where we could distance ourselves from everyone and avoid covid19 if things got bad in Pembrokeshire but also go on day trips if covid remained low in the area this corrage completely met the brief. The children loved the shallow stream which was only a couple of inches deep despite heavy rain so was safe for even the youngest with minimal supervision. The cottage looked and smelled clean apart from a healthy collection of cobwebs caused by many daddy longlegs but I think this is to be expected in the middle of the countryside. The bed sheets and towels were hotel style giving confidence in their cleanliness. The cottage is situated down a log track which is directly off the main road which meant easy to find and we went out on lots of lovely day trips all within half an hour of the cottage. The whole cottage was really well equipped there was a coffee machine so we has fresh coffee every day, the kitchen had everything you would likely have in your kitchen at home (all but one knife was blunt and the knife sharpener wand was of little use so if your planning on doing a lot of chopping/carving a joint then bring a knife or sharpener) the appliances were all good quality and in good condition. Blackout curtains in all the bedrooms were a real bonus and meant the children didn't get up with the sun! There were a few sheep in the field right next to the cottage garden which was lovely. There were 2 different patio areas with picnic tables so you could have a sunny or shady choice both ends of the day. One of the twin bedrooms was directly off the main living/kitchen room so careful thought had to go into who slept where but all other rooms were well distanced from this main living space. The access track to the cottage has a few potholes but our family cars were able to cope with this fine if you have a very low car you may have concerns. All in all it was an ideal setting for a family break, lots of quiet open space so you felt like you were in the middle of nowhere but short drive took you to little towns and beautiful beaches.

Our second visit here, and although this time the weather was cold, with frosts and hail, we were beautifully warm in the cottage.. Another great holiday.

A peaceful and comfortable cottage, although signposting outside could be clearer for easier access.. Games room was run down and we found a razor blade in the garden so could be more child friendly! Also, rubble and broken wooden beams with rusty nails sticking out of them. All together, a lovely cottage but in need of some maintenance to make it more family friendly.

Just as we were leaving to start our holiday, the review entitled "The cottage was very unclean.. ..." appeared on your website. We were therefore slightly apprehensive when we drove up to the property. We can confirm there are sheep in the surrounding fields and the approach to the cottage is a country track and therefore bumpy. There were no sheep in the garden of the cottage when we were there, nor any sheep poo, and the garden gates were all shut. Several of the reviews mention the sheep, if I booked a holiday in London I would expect to see London buses and black cabs everywhere, not sure they would warrant a mention on a review of my accommodation. We found we had very comfortable mattresses, clean white cotton bedlinen, a well equipped kitchen and weather permitting two lovely garden areas to sit and eat in. There were plenty and board games for the children, and the games room itself is under redecoration, but the pool table and the table tennis table were excellent fun, and all needed equipment was present.

The cottage was very unclean and full of cobwebs and spiders.. The garden was not enclosed and sheep often wandered in and left mess which wasn't good for children and pets. The games room was like a derelict building and the garden was unkept. Damp was evident throughout the house. **** Owner response; Thank you for spending some time to leave your feedback from your recent stay and I am sorry to hear you did not have the holiday you were expecting. We take pride in our customer's having a great holiday and the majority of our guests go away having enjoyed themselves. The Ground source underfloor heating with air handling system has been checked and it is working correctly - I cannot see any current issues with damp at the property. There are local animals in the surrounding area as per the description and the garden is not advertised as enclosed - again we are sorry if this has not met your expectations.

Very remote.. Fence should be erected around part of the garden as children could not play due to sheep mess.

Very nice, comfortable cottage, well equipped.. A few very small issues - an instruction book for the cooker would have been helpful, a choice of a lighter duvet would have been nice as it was very warm at night. Also missed having a toast rack and egg cups.

We all thought that the property was excellent. The layout was first class and the rooms were well proportioned and comfortable. There were good cooking utensils and importantly lots of crockery and cutlery and a good selection for children. Thanks you for all help from the Halls
