Area
The tiny, pretty village of Noss Mayo is hidden away on the southern bank of the Yealm Estuary and is home to two good pubs. Across the water is the larger village of Newton Ferrers, and you can get between the two villages by a causeway at low tide and a seasonal ferry that operates a triangular route and calls in at the SW Coastal Path, Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers. Newton Ferrers has a local butcher, chemist and Post Office. The village pub has fantastic views across the water towards Noss Mayo and the creek. The area is blessed with many walks that meander along the waterside and across the fields, while to the north Dartmoor's high tors and open spaces beckon those who love wild country. The city of Plymouth with its shops, Marine Aquarium and Barbican quayside area is just 10 miles away.

Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?

Really enjoyed staying here, it's a very comfortable cottage.. Plenty of kitchen equipment, good quality furnishings, pleasant decor. And the WiFi and TV are excellent.

Super cottage, our 5th visit.. So this says it all. Bit disappointed that the previous week's guests were left wine and cake, whereas a basic not even any milk was left for us for a much deserving coffee on arrival. We were careless enough to pull the door to and get locked out mid week. Rang the first number...no, we couldn't leave an email. Rang the second mobile number....no answer. Jackie, our last resort at Helpful Holidays was excellent, professional and helpful. Seems that this has been an issue before us, so a 2nd keysafe has been installed. Had we have been able to contact the Caretaker first thing (or read this in the cotttage info on our arrival, had it been there) ..we would not have had to worry (despite it being our fault) and resolved in a few minutes. **Owner Response** We are sorry that, due to a delivery problem, no welcome pack was available. We were however very glad that our caretaker was able to respond promptly when our guests accidentally locked themselves out of the cottage.

Pub-restaurants are liable to reduce kitchen opening and food service as soon as the high season is over.. Some local roads were closed for maintenance and traffic sent on difficult diversions. Dogs (many of them!) were friendly and well-behaved, everywhere. Beware of satnav shortcuts in the narrow lanes. Helpful Holidays did very well to accommodate a last-minute booking.
