We stayed at Castle St Cottage for half term in May, the cottage is in a perfect location getting out and about in Caernarfon and it suited us well. The marketing photos used are clearly very old and the cottage is very tired and in need of a redecoration throughout. The games room is almost unusable due to the smell of damp and moould, our children wouldn't go down into the cellar. The most dissappointing area of the cottage was the court yard, the whole are was filthy dirty, including a dead headless bird and all furniture was covered in pigeon poo - we had to clean it all up ourselves in order to use the outside area. On first inspection the hot tub looked great, we were assured that the tub was emptied and cleaned every single week! Clearly this was not the case because since returning from Wales 3 or the 4 of us that used the hot tub have all developed a nasty skin infection, confirmed by our GP to be folliculitis - an infection common found in dirty hot tubs. Although we really enjoyed our week in Caernarfon, sadly we couldn't possible reccommend this cottage as a great place to stay.

Very comfortable cottage with a bigger backyard than expected.. Very handy location. The whole group enjoyed this mini break and would love to go back

The cottage is fairly clean - however, the property is tired and run down and in need of some serious TLC.. The photographs of the property are very misleading! The beds are adequate but the bedroom curtains are very thin, so lie-in's are unlikely. The sitting room doesn't have enough seating for the number of people that the house will hold, and the cellar 'games room' is cold, unwelcoming and smells VERY strongly of damp. We spent most of our time sitting around the dining table. The kitchen appears to be well equipped, until you go to look for a small bowl to make scrambled eggs in or a small jug - there are a great many missing essentials ...... There is, however, ample crockery, cutlery and glasses. The hot tub is great - a pergola has been erected since the publicity pix were taken, which is OK, but the rest of the courtyard!! Where to start? A rickety picnic table, long past it's best, broken concrete underfoot with weeds growing through the concrete. A few sad, random plants, badly pruned ...... Not a 'courtyard garden', more a badly maintained backyard. Having said all that, the location is perfect! Within a 30 second stroll of the front door, there are pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops - and, of course, the Castle. Maybe the hire charges are a bit high for the condition of the property?

Really great location, easy access to pubs, restaurants, supermarkets.. Lots of room inside but decor is just a bit tired and needs updating. The main living room was a bit small and not the nicest room to spend time in so would have been really nice to have had a room we all wanted to spend time in! The beds were a bit uncomfortable... The hot tub could have been a bit cleaner and should have been emptied and refilled before we arrived - there was lots of grit on the bottom and the water sometimes looked quite scummy but we didn’t feel it was unusable as chemicals had obviously been added. There were 4 adults and 4 children so plenty of rooms for us all - dishwasher worked as did the washing machine so if you need somewhere to stay that is basic but functional, stay here

The holiday was wonderful and facilities and location fab! However cleaning was to a poor standard and the house needs A LOT of TLC and repairs. It is not really like the photos at all especially the garden even in winter conditions. My elderly grandfather also got a parking ticket for loading his car outside the day we left so be careful as yes it’s yellow lines but the car park is a long walk for someone age 73. I would stay again and even for longer but don’t expect wonders as it’s beautiful and well presented but dirty and fairly run down. However it’s prime location for pub, grub, dog walks and the castle.

The house is generally unclean.. There is grime and dust in all corners of the house. The kitchen does not have adequate cutelry and could do with a coffee machine. The 'games room' is a joke. The garden untidy. As a group we were all disappointed with the standard of the accommodation as we all hire weekend rentals regularly. This house needs to be either much cheaper to rent, or else cleaned up properly with new furnishings.

The property met our expectations it was fabulously placed in Caernarfon and in quick easy reach of Snowdonia.. Nine of us stayed at the property and there was plenty of room for us all.

The Cottage is a tardis.. Everything you could wish for. The location right by the castle walls is amazing. Beds really comfertable. Warm and cosy. Loads of space. The basement games room brilliant. Oh... and the hot tub, which is now covered over should it rain, is sublime and huge. Go here. It's perfect!

The property was in an excellent location and was close to a number of lovely independent restaurants and bars.. Paula arranged to call round to ensure we knew how to use the hot tub though also gave us lots of info about dog friendly places, where we could get great food for the children, events taking place over the weekend etc - super helpful, thanks Paula!

The cottage/town house was perfect for our girly get away, clean, comfortable, well equipped and the hot tub was lovely! Owner was so friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend staying here x

The house needs updating throughout.. Whether having good finishes to homemade shelving. Skirting boards, bannisters, window sills and wood panneling need painting. The sofas were badly stained and unclean and the cellar/games room was damp with everything being broken in some way. The games console buttons didn’t work, the tv remote batteries had leaked, the table football nets were missing. I do need to say that Paula was lovely and made us feel welcome.

June 2018
Cottage was fabulous! There were 8 adults and 1 dog and the cottage was brilliant for us. Paula popped over on our arrival to show us got to operate the hot tub, and told us some events in Caernarfon that we might like to attend. The cottage is in a brilliant location, very clean and added bonus of a hot tub.

Location was outstanding.. We really enjoyed our stay there. The house suited out family needs. We would be happy to stay there again.

February 2018
The listing was a little misleading.. There is no longer with full body massage available. Decorative minor damage - basically looking rather tired. Hot tub - only used for 4 days as the lady didn't come back to add water treatments midway through the week as promised. Games room - most items broken/unusable. The sofas where lacking comfort. The mattresses in the 2 main front rooms have seen better days. Waste water system in en-suite bathroom extremely noisy. We where all disappointed for the first time since using Sykes for our holidays in the last couple of years.
September 2017
My daughter booked this house for six of us, when we visited North Wales for a relative's wedding. The downstairs lavatory was so full of cleaning materials, etc, it was a fight to get in there. The cellar games room reeked of damp. The ensuite had a saniflow lavatory, which reverberated noisily throughout the two top floors every time it was flushed and had a breakdown of some sort, when stinking water seeped up through the shower floor when the lavatory was flushed. The plumber came to repair it but two days later, water ran down through the floor into the cupboard in the bedroom below, where it wet my clothes. Judging by the peeling wallpaper and stains on the ceiling of the cupboard, this had happened before. Our "king-sized" bed was two mattresses zipped together and because the bed did not have a mattress protector under the sheet (surely a hygeine requirement), I grazed my elbow badly on the protruding zip when turning over in bed. Paula, the housekeeper was great and very apologetic but this was not her fault. The rest of the house, apart from small details like no hooks on the door or shelf in the bathroom, was ok but four stars it certainly wasn't!

Very nice place certainly located lots to do
May 2016
People staying here have no respect for residents whatsoever. Have called the police on numerous occasions as a resident and dread the holiday season. The noise in the back yard with partying till early hours. Obviously this terrace house attracts groups of young party's.

We had a great time and will definitely be back.
February 2016
Set in the castle walls is this tardis like cottage, It looks tiny from the outside but is huge inside. A lounge with two 3/4 seater settees with a large TV and an open fire, a dining room that seats around 10. Plenty of bedrooms, a great sized kitchen, a basement which is ideal for younger guests and a rear yard which is very secure for simply letting the dog or children out to play. Plenty of outside seating and a hot tub which seats 7. There is one parking space right outside the cottage but free road side parking near the railway station if you're lucky.

A gorgeous spacious cottage. It was well decorated and furnished with everything you could need; from fluffy towels to hot tub. In a great location at the foot of the castle surrounded by cafes, shops and bars. The lady who oversees the property is amazing, very helpful.

Spent 5 days here ...theres everything you need in the cottage ...if you like a good nights sleep beds not very comfy ..son slept on settee in front room ...garden area lovely but there is an issue with the rubbish ..bins didnt get emptyied and dont seem to have been for a while ....we kept having to clear it all up ..hot tub wasnt working properly and paula the caretaker kept coming to fill it up every day so it seemed ok ...wi fi is a bit hit and miss ..dining room best place for it we found ...area itself is a bit run down and if you have small children there is a lot of teenagers mostly on skateboards outside the house at night we had to go and tell them to move but they didnt seem to bother ...caernafon castle is just a two minute walk away so that was a good afternoon ....all in all nice place ..homely

Location of the cottage was excellent and suited our family. Cottage was warm and the caretaker was fabulous. Cottage was well equipped and really comfortable, a real home-from-home!
September 2014
We have just enjoyed a lovely family holiday spending a week at Castle Street Cottage. The cottage is clean and well equipped in a very good location; very easy to walk to the pubs and restaurants and very accessible for Snowdonia, Anglesey and the Llyn Peninsula. The hot tub was enjoyed by every one and we were blessed with brilliant weather. However, the parking was an issue. We were only permitted to park one car outside the house, as we were advised not to park outside the adjacent property which was up for sale. We were also advised that we might be ticketed by the traffic wardens but if we were the owner would appeal it, as she had an informal agreement for us to park outside the house. This did worry us a little. We only found one small free car park, by the marina, but finding a space there was difficult, as was finding a space on the nearby streets. The other car parks now charge so if you have more than one or two cars, be prepared.

Overall, it was wonderful. Every thing you need for a comfy, relaxing holiday home. The caretaker is so helpful, nothing too much trouble. The hot tub was super, just the right way to unwind after a busy day round the Town and Castle. We very much look forward to returning to Castle Street Cottage.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Castle Street cottage and it was perfect for our needs. The hot tub was great for relaxing. The owner was very friendly and helpful and the location of the cottage is fantastic. We are planning on booking the cottage again for next year.
April 2014
Just got back from this cottage and can say we had a great time. The cottage is equipped with everything you could possibly need and more. There is a little welcome pack on arrival which was much appreciated. The hot tub, well what can I say, my husband was in there sometimes three times a day! The cottage is on the doorsteps of the castle, within the town walls. There are shops and bars all within minutes walk of the cottage. Great holiday, thank you.

Very central to the town. Well equipped. Beds were very comfortable. Nice and roomy.
December 2013
I stayed here in September with a group of friends and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Its a great location on the doorstep of the Castle, also very convenient for visits to other popular tourist spots in North Wales. The property had everything we needed and a lovely lady caretaker (sorry cant remember her name)gave us useful information about the property, the area and where to eat. The Hot Tub was a great way to relax in the evenings with a glass of wine, stargazing after a day spent touring. The only thing that was not 100% was the basement games room that had a damp musty smell. That said the owners are aware of it and it might now be fixed. However it would in no way stop me visiting this cottage again. The photos do not do it justice it is much bigger than it looks in this photo and very tastefully decorated.

This was our first week away as a family with the grandchildren we found the accommodation excellent in every way. It was very well equipped as our grandchildren were very taken with the games room and up early most mornings to go in the hot tub! We will definitely book again.

There was everything we could need in this cottage and more! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There was lots to see and do. It's situated right in the middle of Caernarfon with easy access to a range of shops and supermarkets and lots of places to eat. The Hot Tub was an added bonus and lovely to sit in especially in the evening with the lights on. We would love to return.
