We stayed in the stone cottage.. It is one of the loveliest places on earth. Really well appointed, warm, and the view from the living area is breath taking. I cant wait to return.

Fabulous view.. Stunning scenery on walks just up the road. Shingle beach a few minutes down the lane. House modern and clean and well appointed. Very helpful owner. Comfortable fresh cotton bedlinen. The leather armchairs were comfortable but a bit weathered! And although there was a large pasta cooking saucepan there was only one other small useable saucepan - the non stick ones were too scratched to use with bits coming off into the food - possibly worth throwing them out and replacing them with a non non-stick saucepans.

The cottage is in an excellent location with stunning scenery within view and even more so with a short walk or car ride up the hill, where it is easy to park in a lay-by to watch sunset over the Skelligs and the fantastic coastline.. The entire area is a walker’s paradise (in clear weather) and there are walks to suit all grades at this end of the Beara Peninsula. We may have missed finding a shop at “2 miles”, usually picking up groceries in Eyeries, Allihies or Castletownbere which are further afield. We didn’t use the nearest pub but one in Allihies where the food was well cooked but gourmets might find it basic in scope. The owner is extremely friendly and also has another cottage next to Cahirkeen cottage. There is sufficient space and privacy between the two although we did not like to “invade” this by moving our picnic table into the evening sun at the end of our cottage patio. As there was a sharp north westerly blowing during our stay we were a bit chilly outside in the evening due to its aspect so preferred to eat indoors and admire the view from there. There is also an outdoor bench which we did move to a sunnier position late pm. No problem with sunrise! The cottage had pretty much everything we needed with comfy beds. The cottage was clean and tidy and we found the layout and uncluttered feel easy to settle into. We would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends and relatives, or rebooking.

The cottage was beautifully kept with fantastic views of the the sea and hills from the kitchen/living room.. When we arrived, the house was already lovely and warm. The landlord was extremely friendly and very helpful in every way. The kitchen was fully functional and had everything you need for self-catering. There was also useful information on the local attractions and sights. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return again.

The stone cottage is a delightful place to stay. The owners Pat & Theresa give you a warm welcome and live close by should you need anything. The cottage is well equipped and is in a stunning location. It has storage heating on a timer so is warm and cosy place to return to after a busy day sight seeing. I would recommend this as a great place to stay to explore the magnificent Beara Peninsula

excellent location and very helpful owner . clean and modern inside, but lacked a few kitchen utensils for us as we cooked most evenings. fantastic location for the ring of beara but lots of windy roads means it takes longer than you think, to get anywhere, but excellent for walking.

Cahirkeen is a lovely cottage on the Beara peninsula with gorgeous views over coulough bay to the ring of kerry. There are beautiful walks, runs, cycles to Allihies,Eyries or round the Ardgroom peninsula. We'd recommend the fishmongers at Castletownbere for some gorgeous fish (and great tips for novices!). Pat and his family live on the farm nextdoor and could not be more helpful both in terms of things to do, history of the area, and even providing a gift of fresh free range eggs for brekkie. We'll definitely be back there again.
